DearFriendsofOrphansAfrica,

OrphansAfricabelievesitcanbesteducateorphansthroughacombinationofvariousinnovative,yetpracticalstrategies:

• Constructandoperateself-sustainableschoolsfororphansthatfocusoneducationalexcellenceandleadership;

• Providesaferesidenceswhereorphanscanliveandthrive;• Educateorphansthroughprovidingtuitionfeesandessentialsupplies;• Provideteachertraining;• Providepreventivehealtheducation;• Collaboratewithlocal,grassrootsNGOs;• Collaboratewithinternationalnonprofitcharities;• Fosterstrongrelationshipswithlocalcommunitiesand

government.

In2015,wecontinuedtodeliverexcellenteducationtobothorphansandpayingstudentsatourschools.Highlightedhereareafewofouraccomplishmentsduringtheyear:

• OurstudentscompletedtheNationalExamswithoutstandingresults:OurForm1studentstook2ndplaceoutof35schoolsinthedistrictandForm3took4thplace.Wealsohad9ofthetop10scoringstudentsinthedistrict.

• Mwajihasatotalof215students—85tuitionpayingchildrenand69orphans,ofwhich31girlsareand38areboys.

• Healthinsuranceforall111childrenattheVwawaNurserySchoolcosts$1,735fortheentireyear.Wemadethatpurchaseandhavealreadyhad18verysickchildrentransportedandtreatedfortheirillnesses.

• WehavethreeclassroomsunderconstructionattheIsandulaCenter.

• AverygenerousdonorhaskickstartedournewdrivingschoolatIsandulawithadonationof$5,000,andweheldamatchingdrivethatraisedanother$5,000fortheprogram.Inaddition,thelocalNGOmembersofMOPboughtasmallcarandareprovidingworkersandfundstocompletetheclassroomsandother

requirementsforgovernmentapproval.Withthesefunds,wearebuyingandequippingacar,improvingfacilitiesandpurchasingsupplies.DrivingisahighlymarketableskillintheremoteareasofTanzania,andweareconfidentthisprogramwillbeasuccess,althoughcomplyingwithandachievinggovernmentapprovalisgoingtotaketime.

• InstalledsolarpanelsontheOAhousetoprovideyear-roundpowerforourvolunteers.

• InFebruary,PaigeWebberleyandDavidMacDonaldmovedintotheOAhousetostartayearofteachingourchildren,andBrettandDianeWebberleycametovisit.

• TheWebberley-MacDonaldteambuiltachickencoopattheOAhouse.

• ContinuedconstructiononthesciencelabatMwajiSecondarySchool,includingcementworkstations,andplumbingforwaterandgas;

• Solarpowerisnowupandrunningatoursecondaryschool;• Thepermacultureprogramisinfullswing.Manyvegetablesarebeingraisedandarebeing

eatenandextrassoldsothattheycanbuyotherfoods.Wealsohave2goatsand3pigs,withalitterontheway!

• PabloRodriguezandtheOAMountainBikeTeamrodeCapeEpicinMarchinSouthAfrica,raisingalotofawarenessandmoney.ThankyouPablo!Coolridingjerseysavailablenow!

• Purchasedandinstalled25desksandchairs• BuiltoneclassroomandtoiletfacilityandinstalledwindowsatIsandulain

acooperativeeffortwithMOPlocalsupporters;• VolunteersworkedtheU.S.OpenGolfTournamentinChambersBay

raisingfundsforOAprojects.• PatrickCaseyvolunteeredtobetheOrphansAfricaSurvivorMudRunCzar,leadingthehardy

individualsontheOATeamtoamuddymessand$8,000intoourprograms.• TheBillandMelindaGatesFoundationprovideda$4,125matchinggranttofundourprograms.• BillFaycelebratedhis60thbirthdaybyascendingMt.Rainier,raisingmuchneededfundsfor

OrphansAfrica.• OtherfundraisingeventsincludedhostingaboothatEthicFest,aconcertattheSwissinTacoma

andahouseconcertbyDaveNachmanoffattheReid’s.

WecontinuetodeliverhighqualityeducationandkeyservicestoourchildreninTanzania.Overall,2015wasasuccessfulandproductiveyear,thankstoourmanyfriendsaroundtheworld.Yourcontributiongoalongwaytohelpourchildren.Asimportantasthebuildings,facilities,supplies,healthinsuranceandfoodaretothesekids,ourloveandconcernforthemissoimportanttothechildren—knowingthatpeoplefarawayworkhardtohelpthemandcaredeeplyaboutthemnourishestheirspiritandsoul.Wearesofortunatetohaveyouworkingwithus.Thankyou.Pleaseconsidervolunteeringafewhoursormakinganotherdonationsoon.Asante!
