This past year has been one of many innovations and amazing numbers. On the tail of last years impact study which demonstrated that every $1 invested into our clubs generated $18.76, a $78 million impact. We con-tinued to capture some of the amazing numbers that show our clubs success on changing the lives of so many children. Here are just a few:
• 8,000 youth benefited from the programs and activities
• 1.8 million service hours provided to youth
• 1 million hours of mentoring
• 108,000 hours of literacy instruction
• 8,800 filed trip experiences
• Over 55,000 lunches were served
• Over 100,000 snacks were served
• Over 150,000 hours of volunteerism by parents and supporters
• Over 100,000 crayons were used in the Art rooms
While the numbers are amazing, it truly is about changing one life at a time. Innovative programs such as our robotics program at our South Beach Club and Kendall Clubs truly inspire children. The Little Chefs program which teaches children and parents how to cook healthy. Our partnership with MISO (Miami Symphony Orchestra) that introduced 50 children to music and the arts. The expansion of the charter school that provides parents a complete educational care program for their children from 7 AM to 7 PM each weekday.
This is what makes our clubs and the programs we provide at a success. All of this is possible because of the dedicated staff that spends their days working with these children and their families. In addition, we want to thank our community partners, generous donors and of course the Board of Directors. We look forward to another wonderful year together.

Every summer Fishing for Families in Need Inc. runs a program at the Boys and Girls club. The program uses the sport of fishing to teach the youth about the importance of marine science and conservation. Then meet 1-2 times per week and then journey on a final field trip. The classes feature lessons on invasive species, overfishing, ocean pollution, climate change, and marine conservation. In addition, there are knot-tying, fish dissection, and casting classes. During
the final field trip, the participants were taken to either John Pennekamp State Park for a snorkel adventure or on a deep-sea fishing trip out of Ft. Lauderdale, FL. At the end of every summer program, each child is given a brand new fishing rod and tackle box.
Date Smart
A $100,000 grant check from HopeLine® from Verizon, for the creation of Boys & Girls Clubs of Miami-Dade’s Date SMART program, promoting healthy teen relationships. The Date SMART program, which will take place at Boys & Girls Clubs of Miami-Dade’s Kendall, Northwest, Hank Kline and South Beach Clubs, is targeted for 400 members aged 12–18. It is intended to increase young people’s understanding and build the skills they need to achieve healthy relationships free of violence and abuse. The program addresses violence and abuse in young people’s dating relationships.
The Date SMART program will complement and enhance the Clubs’ overall goal to offer Miami’s disadvantaged youth with great access to quality programs and services that will enhance their lives and shape their futures.
Our primary mission at Boys & Girls Clubs of Miami-Dade offers a safe haven for kids so that they are not home alone and/or on the streets after school or not and during the summer by offering organized sports leagues led by coaches who serve as role models who teach them camaraderie, discipline and team work. Through their participation, youth not only become physically fit, but they also develop the social skills they need to succeed in school work and in life. We offer a variety of sports programs: baseball, basketball, cheerleading, dance, tackle football, flag football, soccer, softball and tennis.
After School
Boys & Girls Clubs of Miami-Dade’s offers high quality after-school programming at four club locations. Through Project Learn, hundreds of children between the ages of 5-16 years old receive assistance with homework; nurture their creativity through arts & crafts; participate in Reader’s Theatre that promotes a love for literature; and polish their social skills with help from mentors and role models. Project Learn also offers one-on-one tutoring in Exceptional Student Education (ESE). The program also offers ballet, dance, and intramural sports. The program runs concurrently with Miami-Dade County Public Schools schedule and is open on teacher planning days and during Spring Break. Healthy Snacks are provided as part of the registration.
CLUB PROGRAMS AND EVENTS
Lil Chefs
Through the generosity of the Aetna Foundation, four of our clubs were asked to think outside the box and develop initiatives to promote healthy eating among staff, parents and/or club members. The Hank Kline, South Beach, Kendall and Northwest Clubs put our club members to the challenge. 120 Youth were invited to become “Little Chefs” and compete on cooking a healthy meal, taking pictures of their adventure and writing about their experience in making and eating their delectable dish. The competition was on! One of the first dish challenges was Macaroni & Trees. Youth were given the recipe, all of the required ingredients and some cooking utensils.
The results surpassed our expectations. Youth expressed how they truly enjoyed creating a healthy meal and had much to say via pictures and words about their experience. As usual, Boys & Girls Clubs of Miami-Dade devised a creative way to get our kids to eat healthy, try new green foods, and make sure kids had fun along the way.
Fishing For Families
MISO
This year 30 youth attending Boys & Girls Clubs of Miami-Dade’s Hank Kline Club benefitted from participating in the Music Arts Challenge, a program led by the Miami Symphony Orchestra (MISO). Through the Music Art Challenge youth worked with world renowned Composers, Musicians and Artists to learn about classical music and its connection with other art forms. They learned to use watercolors, created several art pieces and brought their art to life through storytelling.
On Sunday, April 12, 2015 at the South Miami-Dade Cultural Arts Center b the children’s stories came to life on stage through Moz-Art! MISO performed their original compositions led by conductor Daniel Andai in a special evening with new musical compositions created by MISO inspired by the art and stories created by youth attending Boys & Girls Clubs of Miami Dade. The narration of their stories and their artwork was projected onstage during the world premiere of these compositions.

CLUB PROGRAMS AND EVENTS (continued)
On Wednesday, December 17th, baseball’s Alex “A-Rod” Rodriguez hosted and funded his seventh annual holiday party, treating 270 children of Boys & Girls Clubs of Miami-Dade to a party like no other. During the event, children met the legendary third baseman and enjoyed a pizza party, sweets inflatables and karaoke. The party was held at the Hank Kline Club, the same club at which A-Rod played baseball as a child.
A-Rod Christmas Event
A former Boys & Girls Club member, R&B star Ne-Yo, stopped by the Boys & Girls Clubs of Miami-Dade’s Kendall Club for a holiday party. At the event he and Angela Simmons, reality TV star, gave away bikes, video games, CD’s action figures, sneakers and toys to more than 500 children. This was the first leg of his seventh annual four-day, four city gift tour.
This year was our second time taking a group of kids camping. Twenty kids between 10 years oldand 18 years old made the trip to Westgate River Ranch Resort. This year they were able to set up their own tents, make their own breakfast and lunch. The kids were able to experience things they had never done before such as line dance in an actual country club, attend a real live rodeo show, and go horseback riding. They also had an opportunity to ride on a mechanical bull, go on a zip line,
play miniature golf, go on a hay ride around the resort and enjoyed a southern barbecue meal after. They truly enjoyed waking up every morning to the sound of the horses. The tents were set up right next to the horse. One evening the group sat around bonfire roasting marshmallows, telling stories and dancing around. It was truly an amazing experience for the entire group.

We offer a variety of sports programs: baseball, basketball, cheerleading, dance, football, soccer and tennis.

Our summer camps focus on offering youth rich social and cultural experiences through exciting recreation, activities and field trips that build team work and social skills. Our camps reserve time for educational enrichment activities to make sure our youth have an edge when they begin the new school year. To showcase some of the highlights of the camp experience, at the end of the summer, parents are invited to a spectacular youth talent show that is thrilling for all: youth, staff and parents alike.

Boys & Girls Clubs of Miami-Dade…• Serves over 10,000 youth ages 5-18. • Over 60% of members are from low-income families. • More than 40% are from single parent households.
Our Programs begin at 3:00 pm daily after the school bell rings. If not for the Boys & Girls Clubs thousands of kids would turn to the streets afterschool or during the summer. The programs and services provided throughout our five clubs include literacy, character development, the arts and athletics for kids ages 5-16 year-round. The positive experiences gained by children as a result of these programs help guide them and provide a moral compass throughout their entire lives
