The COYOTE Youth Program Kicks Off Another Year
Workforce Development Manager Jen Miles has nurtured
the COYOTE Youth Program from a concept to the fully
institutionalized program is it today. Over the past 10
years the program has helped over 1000 youth prepare to
enter the workforce.
The COYOTE program prepares youth for the real world
by learning to complete applications correctly, create
strong resumes and cover letters, and obtain a job. They
also learn how to keep a job by utilizing time
management techniques, appropriate behavior and task
completion. The program contains basic life skills
components including budgeting and financial
management.
With teams in
Kingman, Bullhead City, and Lake Havasu City, Miles
oversees what is necessary for each city to successfully
execute the summer component of the program such as
Work Readiness instructors, additional staff, sponsors,
employer-partners, COYOTE participants, etc.
This year the COYOTE motto is: Live. Dream.
Live. Miles describes this as giving the
individual COYOTEs a different outlook. Live
– One lives at some level of confidence.
Dream – One should try to open their minds
and have improved awareness of what they
can achieve. Live - One can move on to a
bigger and better life. KICK-OFF
