Greetings in the name of our Lord and Savior Jesus, who is indeed the Christ!
Our October 2015 trip started out seemingly on the wrong foot. Jesse, a young man, who attends our
church, was unable to go on this trip. Jesse was scheduled to sit next to me on the flight from New York
to Johannesburg, Africa, and again from Johannesburg to Lilongwe our final destination. However, in his
place a man named Milward sat. This man was dressed in a suit…very immaculate in every detail of
dress and mannerism. I engaged him in conversation and learned he was one of the men Malawi’s
president sent to the UN meeting in New York. He was a very influential man dealing in commodities---
corn, rice, Milo etc. He buys from one country and sells again in his country. The man is a Christian who
has been on the local news many times. He feeds thousands of poor, lame, and “the unlovable” providing
food and blankets. He also gives many 100’s of sacks of grain to local villages. He has built a series of
six churches throughout his area also.
His English was poor but we managed to communicate over the 14-hour flight. His sister was sitting a
few rows back and overheard his difficulty in understand me. She came along side and helped in the
communication for some time. I showed this man photos of our church and of projects, we had
accomplished in Malawi. I explained how we started with $34 USA dollars and a vision to build a debt
free ministry that reached around the world. We began with just my wife, mother in-law, two families
and me. I told him about our Bible school and that Sat. we would hold our graduation. He was very
interested in how we trained Malawians. He gave me his phone number and insisted I call him when we
arrived because he wanted to come to the graduation.
This was the first indication that God would use Jesse’s not coming to our benefit, as I would not be
sitting next to this man otherwise.
We did call Millward and were invited to his home where he introduced us to his family and greatly
honored us. He then took us to his church and wanted us to preach the following Sunday. I could not, nor
any of our team as we all had pre-planned engagements. (We never did get back with Millward, as the
president of Malawi, called a special meeting of all delegates sent to the UN). However, this man has
promised to help in our orphanage which I will share later herein.
The Bible graduation was awesome. As individuals came forward to receive their diploma (8- second
year associate in ministerial study- and 5- in first year fundamentals of faith 24 lessons), family members
sang a special song as they danced to the front gathering round the graduate for photos….The song in the
African language told how they were all proud of the graduate and desired this event to be so. It was a
surprise. Two students who had no family were touched when the chief of their village and elders
humbled themselves by singing and standing with them…truly it was humbling for me to be a small part
of knowing I simply forwarded materials and books to these Christian pastors who have really done all of
the hard work. I only inspired them with an idea…..They teach 2 days every week for 6 hours. The
students work the fields for $2 per day and study by candle light. Most have no electricity in their homes.
Computers cannot be used unless students have transportation to go to town to charge the batteries etc. As
I questioned students latter in the week, their knowledge of the various subjects studied was amazing.
Not just basic understand but deeper principals involving all walks of their life.
This year we helped Pastor Lester, our man on the ground in Malawi who runs the orphanage, bible
school and oversees 6 churches to recently purchase 1.5 hectors (our acres) of land and to build a large
structure 85 feet long by 35 feet wide. The goal is to use the building as a church, Bible school,
conference center, and yearly meeting place for all 6 churches to hold ladies retreats etc.. I pledged to
raise $4,000 for their roof, which I am in the process of doing now.
2015 MALAWI MISSION TRIP UPDATE
Enclosed are some pictures of the orphanage, Church, and school …We now have 13 orphans and two
Mamas full time caring for them. We installed solar lighting this past trip and purchased eight cows, 15,
goats, 3 pigs and 300 chickens that are not yet delivered until the chicken pen is completed.
Last year we meet a member of Parliament named Peter Dimba, who toured our facility this year. He has
been a blessing to us by putting his approval on all we do. He gets a little credit for well repairs and that
makes him look good in parliament too…a win-win for all of us. We have dined at his home and enjoyed
fellowship with his wife and two children. They are wonderful Christians serving the Lord.
We distributed gift packages to all the orphans that their sponsors in the USA sent with us. We also
purchased shoes for each orphan and gave gifts to the Mama’s. At first, these orphans were most pitiful
to see. They hung their heads and were dressed in rags, dirty, eyes oftentimes had scum and hair dirty…
dirty …..dirty….But after three days of love and care they shinned, smiled, all held their heads high with
a newly found pride. We were saddened as we left. They embraced us as if we were their loving parents
forever. One little girl (the one with a pink headband in the pictures) hugged me and rubbed the hair on
my arm and just stared at me with a big smile. Truly I’d take her home in a second if possible…..but
must be content to do everything in my power to see this orphanage is the very best for her to grow up in
and learn about a savior that loves her dearly.
One last awesome event. The chiefs are willing to give us an additional 8 acres if we commit to building
a medical clinic. We have researched long and hard with the government who assure us they will staff the
clinic with two doctors and medicine, (two houses must be built with the clinic) Also the MP – Peter
Dimba agrees an ambulance will be placed at this clinic full time. We have much to pray about as this
clinic and two houses would be a huge undertaking…But look, how Rev Don’s small vision has grown in
just a few years. We laughed when we looked at the small storage building , 12 x12 brick building ,
which was Rev Dons idea of a small orphanage…my my, my, how God takes faithful men and transforms
their little dreams into His awesome plans to reach so many.
May God bless and keep you always as you seek His will for your life daily.
In Christ,
Dr. Steve Newton

Graduation 2015
Five first year graduates. Eight second year graduates. All 13 students are registered for 2016 with five
additional students requesting to join. Please pray God help us to continuing providing books, bibles and
free tuition for students. These young men work for $2 per day wages, must attend class 3 days per week 6
hours per day often times missing work and then study by candle. Most do not have electric or running
water in their homes. Young men like Gervasio preach with no income, work full time, evangelize
neighboring villages and train others in prayer groups from the lessons they learn weekly. Oh and did I
mention must also care for their families.
New Church on 1.5 acres (We are raising $3,700 for a roof on this building) The man standing in doorway is Gervasio…..a new pastor and 2nd year graduate of our Bible school 2nd year
We helped this church purchase their land, obtain legal
documents with the government and purchase cement.
The congregation sold goats to purchase the bricks. It is
important to build the roof as quickly as possible due to
the heavy rain cycle. All who have donated share in this
work and will be rewarded in eternity. This young
pastor thanked me at least a dozen times during our trip
for all the books, Thompson Chain Bible and helping
begin their Bible school. The church is 85’x35’ and will
serve as the Bible school location, church, and
conference center for the other five churches. Rev
David Shows preached here our first Sunday in Malawi.
As soon as we raise the funds for the roof, ($3,700) this
structure will be removed and the material used to build
a new church in a neighboring village. Rev Lester is
standing in the window. Pray God continue to
strengthen him as he oversees the orphanage, Bible
school and all six churches. He also evangelizes local
villages by feeding the poor and presenting the Gospel.
All the churches are doing fine. We provided the funds for World Phiri’s church to concrete their dirt
floor which has been a blessing during the rains. (The first church we built). I preached here our
second Sunday on the subject of “Love one another”. We met with pastor after church to help him
understand how to deal with woman in the church who became a Christians after she had already
married a man having a first wife. Should she stay with her husband or leave him. These are the types
of situations Pastors face when folks get saved as the culture allows a man to have two wives.
wives…and many men do.
If you look carefully, you will
notice a temporary bamboo
structure built within the walls and
a thatched roof.
Orphanage inside
Kids from village next to Lester Don and Lepherson at We purchases 15 goats for milk, meat Orphanage newly constructed cattle pen and to grow a herd for resale
8 Cows were purchased. They need to be fattened up but We installed solar panels and light will be the start of the herd to produce meat, milk, and fixtures income
Look what God has done with so little…truly the saying is true “Little is much if God is in it .”
The Lord has opened so many doors over the past 5 years. (Of which I have been involved the past 3 years)
Pastor World Phari’s church now has a
concrete floor.- photo from last year- This
is the very first church we built.
Our Forth building houses the orphans. We installed solar power this trip. To the right is our certificate of registration. Three years, attorney fees, $750 in various agency fees…But were 100% legal. Something we were told would NEVER HAPPEN.
Thank You Lord Jesus!!!!
