GUEST SPEAKERSThe Minister and Self-Care

Dr. Cadenhead retired last year from 46 years in ministry, the last 17 as Senior Pastor of Providence Baptist Church in Charlotte. Writing has been an important part of his ministry, authoring five books and writing for newspapers in all the towns where he lived, totaling over 1,000 articles. Dr. Cadenhead is also a Clinical Member of the American Association of Marriage and Family Therapy, serving

as a therapist in several locations through the years. Dr. Cadenhead and his wife, Suzanne, have two adult children and five grandchildren. Following retirement, he is now serving part-time in the Church Relations Department of Gardner-Webb.

Dr. Tracy Jessup serves Gardner-Webb University as Vice President for Christian Life and Service and Senior Minister. A graduate of Gardner-Webb with a BA in Music, Dr. Jessup earned his MDiv degree at Samford University’s Beeson Divinity School. He completed his PhD at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. He also enjoys the opportunity to serve the local

church through interim pastorates, pulpit supply, and preaching revival services. He and his wife, Teresa, have two children, Christian and Anna.

Adam is the Director of Association Member Services for the Cleveland County Family YMCA. He received a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry from Gardner-Webb University and a Master of Divinity in Intercultural Studies from Gardner-Webb University School of Divinity.

ADAM VELEZ

Rachel is a native of Arlington, Texas, and received her BA in Telecommunications from Baylor University. She received her MDiv from Truett Seminary at Baylor, and a ThM in Pastoral Care from Duke Divinity School. She has completed eight units of CPE at Duke University Medical

Center and UNC Hospital in Chapel Hill. She began working at Hospice Cleveland County (HCC) as a chaplain in February 2010, and is currently the Director of Supportive Services for HCC. Rachel is married to Garin and they have two sons, Isaac (age 9) and Eli (age 7).

RACHEL HILL

Lamont, Servant Pastor /Teacher of Mt. Calvary Baptist Church in Shelby, NC, is a three-time graduate of Gardner-Webb University, having earned the Bachelor of Arts, Master of Divinity, and Doctor of Ministry degrees. He has served as the Second and Fourth Vice Moderator of the Ebenezer Missionary Baptist Association and currently serves on the Board of Trustees for Cleveland Community College, Community Math Academy, and Carolinas Healthcare System - Cleveland and Kings Mountain. Dr. Littlejohn is married to H. Nicole Littlejohn and has two children, L’mia and Lamont III.
