The grooming area in the Glenwood Centre will be limited.
Dogs left overnight are understood to be at the owners/agents own risk.
Dogs must be exercised in the designated area only. The SCHOOL GROUNDS and PARKLAND ARE OUT OFBOUNDS.
PLEASE REMEMBER TO CLEAN UP AFTER YOUR DOG. Any exhibitor caught abusing this and not cleaning up after their dog will be subject to expulsion from further competition. There will be extra dumpsters on the show grounds, so please use them to ensure our use of this site again.
Electrical Outlets: Do not use the wall plugs on the North (Back) side of Glenwood Arena. Please use the power boxes provided. Extra power will also be available in the front section of the arena near the stage so that we don't continue to blow the circuit breakers.
Thursday: The show building will be open for set up upon completion of the Ring Set up but not before 4:00 pm. The building will close at 10:00 pm
Friday and Saturday: the building will be open from 7:00 am to 11:00 pm
Sunday: Open at 6:30 am to one hour after BIS. In the evening please allow room for the cleanup staff to work.

Eligibility 1. The Sweepstakes are open to all dogs Junior Puppies: Male and Female
(6mos. to under 9 mos.); Senior Puppies: Male and Female (9 mos. to under 12 mos.); and Juvenile Puppies: Male and Female (12 mos. to 18 mos.) as of October 15, 2016
2. All entries must also be entered in a regular breed class on the same day. Classification
1. For the purpose of judging, the dogs will be divided by sex into the following classes: Junior Puppy, Senior Puppy and Juvenile.
2. For the purpose of judging, the First Place winners from each class will be brought together for the final placements of First, Second, Third and Fourth.
All dogs handled by juniors must be entered in one of the regular classes, or for Exhibition only, on the day, but need not be owned by the junior or his/her family. Registration will be posted in the judging schedule. Junior Handlers with the exception of PeeWees, must apply to CKC Head Office on the appropriate form for a Junior Handling Number within 30 days of competing in their first Junior Handling event. Only complete entries accepted. The Alberni Valley Kennel Club offers rosettes for Best Overall Handler and first in each class. Ribbons for 2nd through 4th are offered. Participant ribbons will be given to all Peewee entrants. Prizes offered for First in each class and Best Overall
SHETLAND SHEEPDOGS Prizes Rosettes will be awarded to First in each Class and a ribbon will be awarded to Second to Fourth in each class.

CONFORMATION CLASSES The following Regular CKC Classes (divided by sex) will be offered
JUNIOR PUPPY CLASS - This class shall be for any dog 6 months of age and under 9 months of age on the day of the show SENIOR PUPPY CLASS - This class shall be for any dog 9 months of age
and under 12 months of age on the day of the show 12 to 18 MONTH CLASS – This class shall be for any dog 12 months of age and under 18 months of age on the day of the show CANADIAN BRED CLASS - This class shall be for any dog born in Canada.
(Champions of any country excluded) BRED BY EXHIBITOR CLASS - This class shall be for any dog owned and handled in the ring owner/breeder. The handler MUST be the owner/co- owner AND breeder/co-breeder of the dog. The owner/breeder must handle
the dog at the class level, but need not handle the dog for further awards OPEN CLASS - This class shall be for all dogs SPECIALS ONLY CLASS - This class shall be for any dog which has a recorded CKC Registration or Event Registration Number and has attained the required points for Championship status. Note: A Listed dog MAY be moved to the Specials Only Class after the closing of entries, provided the CKC Individual or Event Registration Number was received prior to the first day of the show. The request to move a class dog to the Specials Only Class MUST be received by the Show Secretary ONE HOUR PRIOR TO THE OPENING OF THE SHOW ON THE DAY CONCERNED. Listing Fees WILL NOT be refunded

CHAMPIONS AND CHAMPIONSHIP POINTS SECTION #1. A dog awarded WINNERS at a Championship show held under these Dog Show Rules shall be credited with a number of championship points (ranging from 0 to 5), and the determination of the number of championship points to be credited to a dog awarded WINNERS shall be as provided hereunder.
SECTION #2. The schedule to be employed in the determination of the number of points to be allocated a dog awarded WINNERS shall be asfollows;

To determine the number of points earned by a dog awarded Winners, total all dogs in competition which were defeated, directly or indirectly, for the highest of the following official breed awards: Winners, Best of Winners, Best of Breed or Best Opposite Sex and then consult the schedule set forth above. The point system provides for additional points if a class dog awarded Best of Breed also places in the group as listed below;
A class dog awarded Best in Show at an all-breed Championship show will be credited with 5 points inclusive of any points earned at the breed or group level. In counting the number of eligible dogs in competition, a dog that is disqualified or that is dismissed, excused or ordered from the ring by the judge, shall not be included in the calculation for championship points (Absentees are not to be included). In order for a dog to be recognized as a Canadian Champion it must: (1) earn at least ten championship points under at least three different judges; and (2) be individually registered in the records of the CKC or have a CKC Event Registration Number (ERN)
RULES GOVERNING THESE SHOWS AND TRIALS 1. THE CLUB RESERVES THE RIGHT TO REMOVE ANY PERSON FROM THE SHOW. THE
SHOW SUPERINTENDENT SHALL HAVE FULL CONTROL OF THESE SHOWS AND TRIALS, WHICH WILL BE GOVERNED BY CKC RULES.
2. ANY DOG EXCUSED BY THE SHOW SUPERINTENDENT OR VETERINARIAN FOR ANY REASON SHALL NOT, COMPETE IN ANY CLASS FOR ANY AWARDS FOR THE BALANCE OF THE SHOW. 3. THE SHOW COMMITTEE WILL USE DUE CARE AND DILIGENCE FOR THE WELFARE OF
DOGS AND EXHIBITORS, BUT WILL NOT BE RESPONSIBLE FOR, OR ASSUME ANY LIABILITY IN THE EVENT OF ACCIDENT OR MISFORTUNE TO EITHER DOGS, EXHIBITORS, SPECTATORS OR VENDORS. 4. DOGS MUST BE ON THE GROUNDS 1 HOUR PRIOR TO THE JUDGING OF THEIR BREED. 5. THE OWNER OF A DOG ENTERED IN THESE SHOWS IS ENTIRELY RESPONSIBLE FOR

Please respect our parking volunteers as to their directions. Any argument, abusive language, or uncooperative will not be tolerated and expulsion from the grounds will result, along with future barring of parking at AVKC events.
