A LOOK BEYOND STEREOTYPE ANDINTO THE LIVING IDENTITY OF ITALIANPEOPLEFriday, March 13, 2015 at 6:30pm

The lecture provides an understanding of thecommon temperament and world view of thosewho are born and raised in Italy. Going beyond

the factitious image of the Bel Paese, it offersan insight into historical and socio-cultural factorswhich contribute to make Italians what theyarefor better or for worse. Dr. Peroni traversesan imaginary body and lingers upon parts full ofsymbolic value and evocative of various themes. For instance, talking about hands he presentstopics such as gesticulation, praying/need forprotection; feet is about emigration, cars, soccerand so on. Moreover, he discusses some traits ofthe moral and civic sense which play a significant

role in the persistence of the political-economicstasis that Italy has known for almost ten years.Presented by Mauro Peroni, PH.D. in Philosophy andTheory of Human Sciences.
