CAMP DIRECTORS Paula DeTellis Camp Director Hello, parents! I am looking forward to another fun summer. Camp Woodhaven has been part of my life for almost 23 years now. Soon after George and I were married, the baton was passed to us. We have seen the camp grow and blossom from just a dream. My role has been the “behind the scenes” person for many years. I enjoy plan- ning program that your children will find fun, but you will recognize as educational. Here’s a little about my life. George and I live and work in Florida dur- ing the school year. We have a son who is 23 and a daughter who is 20. I love to cook food from many countries. I enjoy walking, hiking, and biking for outdoor activities. I appreciate the business side of camp as my degree is in finance, but I also love the creative side of camp. I learned from a young age to use my imagination to create interesting activities. My life growing up on a dairy farm also gave me a love for God’s creatures and for plants and trees as we grew almost all our own food. I hope to share this love for the outdoors with your children. George DeTellis Jr. Executive Director Hi! My name is George DeTellis and I am the Executive Director of Camp Woodhaven. My grandfather, Charlie DiPietro, founded Camp Woodhaven sixty years ago. Today my grandfather is 96 and still drives out on a sunny day to check up on me. As a boy, I spent my summers here at camp when my Dad was the camp director. I love this old camp and want to preserve it for future generations of children. In 2002, I graduated from Rollins College with my MBA. During my time in graduate school, I decided to use the analysis tools we used for case studies to develop a business plan for Camp Woodhaven. In 2002, I turned Camp Woodhaven into a day camp focused on the needs of working parents. My wife and my two children live with me here at camp during the summer. Every year, my kids can’t wait to get out of school and spend their summers here at Camp Woodhaven. Camp is a lot of work and long hours, but there is something wonderful that takes place here in the lives of children. Seeing all of our campers having the time of their life gives me the greatest sense of fulfillment. JoshDirector of Upper Camp (ages 11-13) I am elated and blessed to announce that I will be returning for yet another summer at Camp Woodhaven. You might think me insane for returning for this my eighth year and I would have to agree with you because you have to be a little crazy to work at a summer camp, just ask any of my coworkers. Part of the reason I find myself returning each year is the relation- ships that have been formed over summers with campers and staff alike. There are many campers who were just Robins and Bluebirds when I started all of those years ago and just last year they became Owls and Eagles. Another gift I have received from working at Camp Woodhaven is the ability to see campers come full circle and now work right alongside me. This marks our third year of the “Upper Camp” program, which I have to say far exceeded expectations thanks to all of the hard work and cooperation by staff, campers and parents who contributed. I am so excited for camp to start because frankly it wouldn’t be summer without camp. This past year I worked in the Shrewsbury Public School system until February I began teaching fifth and sixth graders History and English at Holden Christian Academy. I was provided a unique opportunity in that I worked with many campers both current and former in the school setting. It certainly was a lot of fun to recall prior camp experiences and stories with them as we got down to learning and also generate excitement for the upcoming sum- mer. That being said I am really looking forward to another exciting summer with all of my friends at Camp Woodhaven.

Paula DeTellis Camp Director Hello, parents! I am looking forward to another fun summer. Camp

Woodhaven has been part of my life for almost 23 years now. Soon

after George and I were married, the baton was passed to us. We

have seen the camp grow and blossom from just a dream. My role

    educational.

Heres a little about my life. George and I live and work in Florida dur-ing the school year. We have a son who is 23 and a daughter who is

    20. I love to cook food from many countries. I enjoy walking, hiking,

    Office Staff/Administration Assistants

    Kim-Office Manager

Hi, I am Kim. I am proud to say that this will be my eighth year

returning to Camp Woodhaven. I've come to see the Camp Wood-

haven family as part of my extended family. Coming from an of-

fice background, I really enjoy the interaction with parents, direc-

tors and camp staff. As a parent, I can not say enough about the

nurturing environment my daughter has had at the camp with the

staff. She is always sad to leave. I am currently a school bus

driver for the Wachusett school district September through June

and enjoy my students very much.

    Michael-Administrative Assistant/Camp Shopper

Hello! My name is Michael, and I will be assisting the director this

year, as well as, giving some teaching for the Leaders-in-Training.

I've been working at Camp Woodhaven for seven years mostly

managing the Trading Post. I am graduating from Eastern Mennon-

ite University in May with a degree in History & Social Science.

    Taylor-Parent Communicator, Lunch Tickets, Photographer

Hi everyone! My name is Taylor, and this will be my sixth year working

at Camp Woodhaven. I am a recent graduate from the Savannah Col-

lege of Art and Design in Atlanta, and plan to have a future career in

television graphics! I live in Orlando, Florida but love to spend my

summers up here in West Boylston! This year I'll be helping out with

early morning extended day, lunch ticket sales, and helping keep par-

ents in touch with what goes on at camp through daily photo albums

and social media updates! If we haven't met already, odds are you'll

see me around at one point or another this summer!

Throughout these past years, camp has always been a big part of my

life, whether it be by helping out in the Trading Post or simply saying

hello in the mornings to those in extended day. I always look forward

to seeing familiar faces and meeting new people, and this year is no

different! I'm very excited for the summer ahead, and hope that we

can all work together to make it the best one yet!

  • Trading Post

    Sandy-Lunch Director

Hello everyone! My name is Sandy and this will be my 7th year at Camp

Woodhaven as the Kitchen Manager. I am convinced that there is no

place on earth like Camp Woodhaven where we all come together as one

in Christ to love, share, teach and encourage one another! A little bit

about me-I have 3 grown children 1) Rachel (24) who is married to

Caleb and who gave me my 1st grandchild, Titus, (18 months-old) who I

am CRAZY in love with! 2) Sarah (22) who loves art and works at A.C.

Moore, and 3) Aaron 20, who is an entertainer (not yet famous) and loves creating funny online videos. (And we all live harmoniously under

one roof-I think!) During the school year I work as a teacher and cook

for KinderCare Learning Center in Shrewsbury, Ma. I also work part-

time at a group home in Hopkinton with differently-abled adults. I also attend First Assembly of God church in Worcester, Ma. where I have

been a member for over 20 years. I cant wait to see what God is going to do in all of our lives this summer!

    Diane-Program Facilitator & Maintenance

Greetings! My name is Diane and this will be summer #5 for me at Wood-

haven. For 21 years now, Ive been married and living on a small farm in Paxton. Now that my son has graduated and there are no more football

games or practices in my life, Ive decided to start my childhood over. Learning to read Greek, track critters on my snowshoes, and play in the

brass ensemble, at church are at the top of my to do list in the winter. (And going south!) Here at camp Im behind the scenes although the green golf cart is frequently an indicator of where I am. From the kitchen,

to the pool, through the fields, and out into the woods you might find me

taking care of the camp property or helping staff in ways that better enable

them to give the campers great Woodhaven experiences. So, if its a hose you want to spray campers with on a hot day at the gaga pit, or you find a

skunk stuck in the mole-ball court: give a call on the radio and Ill be there!

    Joe-Trading Post Manager

Hello, my name is Joe and I moved to Florida from MA when I

was seven years old. Growing up I played all sports, but my fa-

vorite was always football. I am also very interested in com-

archery, singing at flagpole, eating ice cream at trading post, the blueberry

forest, Over-day, Friday Festival, and of course the campers and staff that

everyone and that everyone is different but that we are all the same in the long run, so

we shouldnt judge others or be cruel. A smile can mean a thousand words to someone and one smile can change a persons entire day and I want to be that person for your children so that they can pass the smile one and be that special someone to someone

else. I look forward to an amazing summer full of laughs and smiles.
