Upholding tikanga, preserving wahi tupuna and enhancing matauranga of Te Arawa River Iwi

Te Arawa River Iwi Trust represents the interests of our iwi (groups), within the Upper Waikato River catchment area which extends from the base of Huka Falls to Pohaturoa and north towards Rotorua.

The Trust was established in 2009 to represent the Te Arawa River Iwi (groups) , Ngati Tahu-Ngati Whaoa, Ngati Kearoa-Ngati Tuara and Tuhourangi-Ngati Wahiao in a Co-Management Framework for the Waikato River and to assist them to exercise their kaitiakitanga (Guardianship) and to act as a forum for the three Te Arawa River Iwi to collaborate on issues relating to the Waikato River and its tributaries.
