The Knights TaleDavis Lambright Council #4101 Fort Worth, TexasNewsletter for November 2015
Grand Knight’s ReportGreetings Brother Knights,
The month of November is here at last, and we can see that the end of this calendar year is now in sight along with the holiday season. The work I've seen from everyone is awe-inspiring, and I hope to see more of it especially now on this month.
As many of you are aware, our Tootsie Roll Drive, which is our biggest fundraiser for our council, will be taking place on the 27th and 28th of November. We will begin at 9AM and conclude our operations at 3PM. We will meet inside Cowtown Bar-B-Que, located in Ridgmar Farmers Market across from the mall. It is vital that we have committed members come to assist in this event, as this happens only once a year. So in conclusion, we must make this count.
Of course, we must also remember that this is also the month of Thanksgiving. The history actually stems from the English colonists we call Pilgrims, who celebrated days of thanksgiving as part of their religion. But these were actually days of prayer, not days of feasting, as so many know it to be now. We too should be thankful for all that we have in our lives, and above all else, we should thank God for giving us a road to redemption through his only son, Jesus Christ, for without Him, we would be lost.
So as we reflect on what we are thankful for in life, let us remember the words from the book of James:
"Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of lights with whom there is no variation or shadow due to change."
- James 1:17
Thank you, and may the Lord watch over us all.
Fraternally yours,
Lorenzo R. Mendez, Jr. - Grand Knight

Pope Francis To Visit Mexico Next Year
VATICAN CITY (Reuters) - Pope Francis plans to make his first official trip to Mexico next year, a Vatican spokesman said on Tuesday, announcing the Argentine pontiff's latest visit to the Americas.
Francis made a "homecoming" tour of Ecuador, Bolivia and Paraguay in July, and visited the Spanish-speaking
Caribbean island of Cuba and the United States last month. His first trip abroad after his election in 2013 was to Brazil. "I can confirm ... that a project exists for @pontifex to visit Mexico in 2016," Vatican spokesman Manuel Dorantes said, referring to the pope's official Twitter account, which has more than 7.5 million followers.
Dorantes, writing on his @TweetingPriest account on the social media site, added that Francis, who is also due to visit his native Argentina next year, would visit Mexico City's Basilica of Our Lady of Guadalupe.
The most powerful person in finance may surprise you
“We think financial power is about the ability to affect people’s lives,” says Richard Bradley, editor-in-chief of Worth Magazine. “It seems like an unconventional choice but the Pope has the world’s biggest pulpit. He’s also got the world’s most passionate audience.” Bradley believes that Pope Francis’ appeal and persuasion have moved
beyond just Catholics and to the general population. “With the things that he’s talking about -- immigration, poverty, climate change -- he’s reaching more people about financial issues than anyone would have expected.”
