Abstract
Turkey’s Regional Role towards the Middle East (2002-2016) Mai Sami AL marshed Mutah University, 2016
This study aimed at identifying the transformation that occurred to the Turkish regional role towards the Middle East after the year 2002. In addition to reveal its principles and goals and to examine the regional and international changes that contributed to the articulation and crystallization of the said Turkish role.
The problem of the study focused on the primary question related to the clarification of nature of the Turkish regional role’s in the Middle East and the objectives which Turkey seeks to achieve by its returning to the Middle East during the period of 2002-2016 and through its utilization of political economic geography and military capabilities through crises and changes that the region is going through; and the retread of the Arab regional system. In addition the rise of regional powers which complete against Turkey over the region’s leadership such as Iran for example.
The study’s theory states that the changes and transformation which the Middle Eastern countries witnesses and political and economic conditions deterioration which coincide with international variables and the rise of regional powers which compete with Turkey over the region’s leadership all of these factors have contributed in having Turkey an effective and active role in the Middle East during the period of 2002-2016. This role has reached a level in which it seems that Turkey is the regional leader of the region’s countries. To test the hypothesis accuracy and to answer the study’s question.
The study utilized system analysis approach national interest approach and regional approach for being appropriate for studies similar to this.
The study revealed the following results: Turkey under the leadership of (Adalet and Tanmiyeh) Justice and Development Party to have an effective and crucial role in the Middle East through its investment of capabilities it owns in one hand and the changes and developments that the area experienced in the other.
Although the Turkish Foreign policy witnessed certain deviation from its original principles such as: be little the current problems policy; however Turkey remains the strong ally that most of neighboring countries trust in comparison with other competitors powers that compete over the leadership of the Middle Eastern region. A consequently has gained to have

an effective role in the Middle Eastern region. In addition by these results the accuracy of the study’s hypothesis is assured.
