Take Lisette Nieves, a member of our Senior Leadership Council in New York. Her story starts in Brooklyn where shelearned early from her Puerto Rican parents that education and hard work were necessary to achieve any kind ofsuccess. A product of the public school system, she was recognized by a few of her teachers early on for her academicefforts and was encouraged to seek more challenges, graduating from high school at the age of 16. A doctorate ofeducation, a Truman and a Rhodes scholar, Lisette has never forgotten the impact of those who supported her—andso, whenever the opportunity to support others presents itself, she always chooses to do so as was evident when shelaunched YearUp NYC, a program that provides training and internships for young adults who are educationally andprofessionally disconnected. It was, after all, with the help of her support network and the core values instilled in herfrom her childhood, that helped shape her sense of purpose and allow her passions to guide her path.

On December 5th, 2016, ALPFA will host a black-tie Gala at the Cipriani, featuring inspiring speakers, livelyentertainment, and live & silent auctions. Proceeds will go towards advancing ALPFA’s purpose and supporting thenext generation as they discover their values, passion, and purpose in order to reach their full potential.

Looking ahead to March 16, 2017, ALPFA will be bringing together leading women from across various sectors of theglobal economy for an opportunity to hear from nationally recognized speakers through keynote addresses, one-on-one interviews, panel discussions and interactive small group discussions where guests can also learn from each other’sstories. The programing will focus on discovering one’s purpose and passion, both at the personal and corporate level.
