Today’s Game: The Baysox open their second seven-game homestand with the Harrisburg Senators coming to Bowie. The Baysox failed to get the sweep last night @ Erie, but were still able to win their first series by taking two out of three from the SeaWolves...Prior to last night’s loss the Baysox had won four games in a row, which is impressive after the 1-7 start...This is the first time the Baysox have played Harrisburg this season...The Baysox currently sit at 5-8, tied for third in the Western Division...Yesterday, the Baysox lost to the SeaWolves 7-1...The game was never really close, as Erie got out to a fast start by scoring runs in the first three innings to get out to a early 7-0 lead, assisted by a couple errors in the field by the Bowie defense...The lone Baysox run came in the fourth inning off a single by SS Adrian Marin to score 1B Trey Mancini...Surprisingly Bowie had twelve hits, but could only muster one run as the team set a season-high for men left on base (12)..Losing his third consecutive game was Baysox RHP Joe Gunkel, he threw 3.1 innings and allowed seven runs (three earned), on seven hits in the loss...SeaWolves starter RHP Tommy Collier won his first contest of the year as he threw five innings and allowed just one run, one walk and struck out four. The strong right-hander enters the 2016 season as the No. 18 rated prospect in the Orioles organization according to Baseball America...After a slow start in 2015, Hess was dynamic down the stretch and pitched two huge playoff games for the eventual Eastern League Champions, Bowie Baysox. During his final 15 starts plus two Eastern League Playoff wins he posted a 1.61 ERA...A big second half of 2015 could lead to a breakout 2016 season for David Hess...He features a good fastball, a slider and a curveball as his secondary pitches...Hess, originally a 2014 draft pick was the first player of his draft class to make their Double AA debut in Bowie... RHP Reynaldo Lopez makes his third start of the season...In his last start 4/16, he threw 6.0 innings and allowed two runs on four hits while walking one and striking out five in a 3-1 loss vs. Reading...Originally signed by the Washington Nationals in 2012...After a tough start in the organization Lopez had a dominant breakout 2014 season...This season is his first in the Eastern League and currently has a record of (0-2, with a 4.09 ERA, 11.0IP)...Lopez pitching arsenal features a good fastball, a powerful 11-5 curveball and a solid changeup as his third pitch...He enters the 2016 as the No. 5 rated prospect in the Nationals system according to Baseball America... Gone Streaking: After a slow start at the plate for the team, there are now several Baysox hitters who are currently on significant hitting streaks...Chance Sisco currently has the longest active hitting streak on the team and the longest on the year with hitting safely in now (8) consecutive games... Playing primary DH is no easy task, but Corban Joseph has found a way to make it work at the plate in recent games, and has now hit safely in 7 straight contests...Infielders Drew Dosch and Adrian Marin have both extended their hitting streaks to 6 games in a row... Marin has impressed al year at the plate so the hot hitting comes at no surprise, hit safely in 10 out of the 11 games he has played this season... From Cold to Hot: After one of the worst starts in franchise history where the Baysox opened the season 1-7, the team has now one four of their last five games that has helped them climb out of the Western Division gutter and into a tie for third place...Although, the team only scored one run last night the hot hitting has continued, which has produced 58 hits during the last five games...This hitting surge has helped improve the teams batting average from a league worst .233 just three days ago to a middle of the road .255 after Wednesday’s loss...One again the bullpen has impressed after pitching 4.2 innings of scoreless and hitless relief.... Regular Rosa: Since signing with the Orioles in 2006, Garabez Rosa has played more than 900 games in the Orioles Minor League system...Back to open a fourth season in Bowie after spending almost all of his time with the Baysox since 2013, he currently ranks sixth in career Baysox games played in franchise history (366)...The Dominican Republic native is also 4th all-time in hits (366), 10th in runs (155), eighth in doubles (65) and fifth in RBI (164)...He’s served as the ultimate utility man throughout his career, this year alone he has already started at five different positions - 3B, SS, 2B, CF, RF...In 2015, Rosa started games at 1st base, 2nd base, shortstop, 3rd base and 35 games in the outfield...All the movement on defense has not affected Rosa at the plate where he has been red hot...Rosa is picking up right where he left off during Spring Training, where he impressed the Orioles by hitting .571 (12-21) with eight RBI while appearing in 16 Major League games... 2016 BOWIE BAYSOX GAME NOTES Thursday, April 21, 2016 - 6:35 p.m. Prince George’s Stadium - Bowie, Md.
