Kim Ramsey“SUCCESS ... YOUR WAY”Kim Ramsey is the President and Founder of The Executive Edge®, Inc., a niche national consulting firm that specializes in coaching executive leaders and their teams in reaching their full potential. She holds a Master’s degree in Human Resources from the University of Illinois, School of Labor and Employment Relations, Champaign-Urbana and a Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Psychology, also from the University of Illinois. She was recently chosen to be a member of the Forbes Coaches Council which serves as a governing body that provides thought leadership in the area of executive development. In addition, she has served as the Vice-President of Programs for the Chicago chapter of the Association for Strategic Planning and the founding member/chairperson of the Chicagoland Human Resources Consortium. In the past, she served as a Vice-President, Programs for the American Society of Training and Development and an elected member of the Board of Advisors for the University of Illinois, Graduate School of Labor and Employment Relations for a three year term. She is also a member of the National Association of Woman Business Owners, Society for Human Resources Management, Organizational Development Network, the Chicago Human Resources Management Association, a professional association for advancing Human Resources.

Human Resources is a passion for Kim and her family. She is married to Paul Ramsey, who is also an alumnus of the University of Illinois, School of Labor and Employment Relations – Class of 1986. She has four children: Zack, Krysta, Kaitlin and Jake. Krysta completed her graduate degree from LER in 2016 and Kaitlin is graduating with the Class of December 2017.

THE SCHOOL OF LABOR AND EMPLOYMENT RELATIONS

The School of Labor and Employment Relations (LER) has a long and proud tradition of excellence. LER was founded in 1946 after a resolution was introduced by the Milk Wagon Drivers Union Local 753 at the Illinois State Federation of Labor annual convention in Chicago. There have been twelve directors/deans: Phillips Bradley, W. Ellison Chalmers, Milton Derber, Robben Fleming, Martin Wagner, Melvin Rothbaum, Walter Franke, Peter Feuille, Joel Cutcher-Gershenfeld, Joseph Martocchio and Fritz Drasgow.

Consistently ranked as one of the top human resource and employment relations graduate programs in the country, the School has a tradition of multidisciplinary research and teaching excellence in human resource management, employment relations, labor economics, organizational behavior, psychology, law, and related disciplines. The Labor Education Program faculty has strong ties to trade union programs across the state of Illinois, offering on-going education on a variety of topics. LER faculty also interact with corporate partners through the Center for Human Resource Management, conducting applied research in partner corporations. Strong international connections also help define the direction of the School, with major relationships in Japan, Taiwan, China and Korea among others.

Students who graduate from LER have studied with some of the most well respected scholars in the field of human resources and employment relations. Many views of the workplace are strongly espoused at the School exposing students to a breadth and perspective not found in any one discipline, but no one ideology takes precedence.
