Review and Discuss District Policies

• The Board and Policy Committee will review and discuss potential policies for development, implementation, or improvement among groups.

• The Board will use the Green Forms provided to suggest specific policies for discussion among the entire committee

Adoption of District Policies

• The Board will adopt and approve policies discussed prior to lunch.

• Use the Green Form to write in the adopted policies by the Esmeralda CSD Board of Education

Data Review

• The Board will review and discuss the following district data provided in the portfolio:

• Needs Assessment Survey (Esmeralda CSD Staff)

• MAPS Test Scores (Students)• Discuss Smarter Balanced Nevada State

Assessment for Accountability

• The Board will listen to a presentation from Legal Counsel: Mike Pavlakis

• The two topics which will be presented are listed below:

• Effective Governance• Hot Topics in Educational Law

Strategic Planning

• The Board will develop the District Goals for the 2016 – 2017 school year

• Some suggested areas from the superintendent for development are as follows:

• Student Achievement/Accountability• Technology• Maintenance of the District• Community and Parent Engagement

• The Board will build on and develop a new Esmeralda CSD Mission Statement:

• The previous work suggests: • To educate our students so they have an

opportunity to be productive members of society.

• Objectives: It represents a simple purpose and mission that is perpetual and positive.

• Promote Student achievement • Recruit competent dedicated staff that will

provide excellence in academic and physical growth. Marriage between intellectual and physical growth – sound mind, sound body.
