AWARDS PRESENTATION NIGHT

Our Awards Presentation night will be conducted at the Bendigo RSL. The Bendigo RSL

club is located opposite the showgrounds.

Everyone is welcome to come along and members will be able to purchase a meal from

the Bistro between 6.00pm and 8.00pm and the Presentation Awards night will

commence at 8.00pm.

We will be presenting our Diamond awards (including bronze, silver and gold), Annual

High Point Awards and also our National Show High Point Awards. We would like to

encourage all members to attend this social evening as we don’t seem to have the time

when we are showing to chat and see everyone.

RSL DINNER RAFFLE The Bendigo RSL Club has kindly donated a voucher for main meals for 2 adults to be used

on Saturday 27th November at our Presentation Night.

We will be selling raffle tickets for this wonderful prize at the Secretary’s Office on

Saturday and will draw the raffle at 4.00pm.

Cost of tickets: $2.00 ea

At the Awards night we will also be having a

Silent AUCTIONDonations for the Silent Auction will be greatly appreciated, they can be horsey or non-

horsey items. To prepare for this type of Auction we do need to know what is being

donated so could you please contact Sharon McDonald on 03 5265 1247

All proceeds will be used to help in the running of the National Palomino Show.

2016 PALOMINO NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP SHOW

RULES & REGULATIONS

1. The age of the horse is to be calculated from 1st August. The age of the rider is at the day of the Show.

2. All Stallions and Colts must be equipped with a bit and proper headstall/bridle and have a competent attendant in charge

aged 18 years and over.

3. All horse must be registered in the APHA Studbook and all owners’ current members of the APHA Inc. All foals must be

foal Recorded (applications must be submitted by 1st November to be eligible to compete).

4. All exhibits manes and tails must be free and flowing on both days of the National Show. False tails and plaited &

hogged manes are PROHIBITED.

5. Horses with manes and tails showing evidence of being dyed or bleached will be disqualified. Any exhibitor who has

been found to have dyed out spots or dyed or bleached the mane and/or tail, or who has given stimulants or

tranquillisers to a horse will be disqualified from that class and the balance of the Show and could be liable to expulsion

from the Association.

6. THE JUDGES DECISION IS FINAL.

7. Any protest (which must be in writing) must be in the hands of the Show Coordinator no later than one half hour after the

class and be accompanied by $50.00 which will be forfeited if the protest is deemed frivolous or not upheld.

8. Horses in Handler classes must be 3 years old or over. Please refer to Handlers Regulations on information page.

9. Horses entered in height classes must provide proof of height if required. RASV Height Certificates are acceptable.

10. Exhibits shall be distinguished by a number (one number per horse) and this number must be displayed on the

handler/rider when horse is exhibited. A deposit of $5.00 (refunded on return of number) must be paid when paperwork

is collected from the Secretary’s office. The same exhibit numbers will be used on both day of the Show.

11. The entry of any animal shall be taken as guarantee that the horse is free from disease as far as it is known to the

exhibitor. If a disease is detected, the owner shall remove such animal from the Showgrounds, if asked to do so by a

member of the Show Committee.

12. Entry fees are as stated in the Schedule. Ribbons to fourth placing will be awarded, subject to the Judge’s discretion.

Ribbons for the President Senior Grand Slam and Edna Clark Junior Grand Slam will be awarded to 6th place. Trophies

and prizes must be collected on the day of the Show.

13. Full entry fees must be paid at the time of lodging entries. Facility fee, Stable fee and Catalogue fee are compulsory

and must be paid with entries.

14. Exhibitors compete at their own risk and the Association cannot be held responsible for injury sustained by exhibitors,

helpers, riders, handlers or horses.

15. All disputes to be dealt with by the appointed Show Committee.

16. Horse boxes (stables) are for horses only and will be allocated with payment of $10.00 per box per day to be paid at the

time of entry. All horses are to be stabled and fees paid. Horse boxes must be CLEANED OUT at the end of the Show.

17. Horse boxes (stables) are not to be used for sleeping, cooking or the use of lighting.

18. Stallions are not eligible for classes unless stated.

19. Campsites are to be left clean and tidy on departure.

20. The Show Committee reserves the right to cancel or combine classes or alter the sequence of events.

21. Dress standard for Rider/Handlers – neat and tidy (no tank tops, singlets, T-shirts, runners, thongs etc).

22. ALL RIDERS MUST WEAR A HELMET THAT COMPLIES WITH AS/NZS3838, EN1384 OR ASTM1163 FOR ALL

MOUNTED CLASSES.

23. All Riders and Handlers must be members of the Australian Palomino Horsebreeders Association Inc.

24. All Riders/Handlers who are NOT financial members of the Australian Palomino Horsebreeders Association Inc. are

required fill in a Non Member Waiver form and pay a fee of $10.00. Entries will NOT be accepted unless Non Member

Waiver forms are signed and fees paid. One form per person.

25. The use of electric fences or yards is strictly PROHIBITED.

26. Riders will not be permitted to remount in show ring after a fall resulting in disqualification from the class. This is an

insurance requirement and is compulsory for all.

27. Exhibitors do not have to compete in a led class to be eligible for ridden and/or rider classes.

28. NO DOGS PERMITTED ON SHOWGROUNDS.

29. REFUND POLICY: The Show Coordinator must be informed of the scratching as soon as possible. A refund will be

provided on the presentation of a Veterinary Certificate or Medical Certificate within 7 days of the event. The refund will

be 80% of the CLASS entry fees only. Refunds are at the discretion of the APHA Committee.

30. NOVICE COMBINATION – rider and horse/pony combination never to have won a 1st prize at a Royal Show, Agricultural

Show or a Breed Show.

** INFORMATION SHEET ** The Schedule & Entry Forms Please read your schedule and entry forms very carefully as there have been changes. The National Show is now a two day Palomino show.We will be adhering to a strict timetable for this event therefore we will not be able to hold up classes so please be on time. If you have any queries regarding the schedule please contact the Show Coordinator.

Foal Futurity The 2014/2015 Foal Futurity will be judged on Saturday in Ring 2.

Grand Slam The Grand Slam events will be judged on Saturday in Ring 2. Both Junior and Senior Grand Slams are judged by three Judges using a points scale. The points will be allocated as follows:- General Presentation / Appearance = 15 points, Paces / Manners = 15 points, Execution / Correctness of workout = 20 points – TOTAL 50 PointsThe workouts are in this schedule, however only the Juniors will be given the opportunity to look at the workout on the day. Seniors are required to memorise the workout as they will NOT be given the workout on the day. The winner of the Edna Clark Memorial Junior Grand Slam will receive a 1st place sash and inscribed rug. Sashes will be awarded from 2nd to 6th place. The winner of the President’s Senior Grand Slam will receive a 1st place sash and prize money of 50% of total entries. Sashes will be awarded from 2nd to 6th place.

The APHA Challenge The APHA Challenge class will be judged on Sunday in Ring 1. All horses entered will complete a ridden workout and only the top 6 horses will then go onto the next round. The top 6 horses will be stripped down for inspection and then shown in hand by the rider. The class will be marked - 60% ridden and 40% in hand. A strapper is permitted to hold the horse when it is being unsaddled by the rider – assistance to unsaddle may be given to young children. The winner will receive a trophy and sash, sashes will be awarded from 2nd to 4th place. This class is not eligible for

Champion Ridden Stallion/Mare/Gelding or Supreme Ridden Champion.

Freestyle Ridden Class The Freestyle Ridden Class will be judged on Sunday in Ring 1. In this class riders can perform their own freestyle performance. The performance is not exceed 3 (three) minutes in duration. The performance must contain the following movements as a minimum: walk, trot & canter. This class is not eligible for Champion Ridden Stallion/Mare/Gelding or Supreme Ridden Champion.

GUIDELINES FOR HANDLER CLASSES

Horse/Pony must be 3 years old and over – No Stallions for Handlers under 18 years of age To be judged strictly on the Handler’s ability to handle and show their horse/pony. No consideration should be given

to the horse, other than correctly fitting tack.

1. Judging techniques and procedures will vary according to individual Judge’s preferences therefore no

individual judging form or pattern is given here.

NOTE: It is permissible for a Judge, if he or she desires, to ask the Handler questions on horsemanship and

conformation. Questions should be in accordance with the Handlers age and knowledge level.

2. Regardless of where the Judge stands in the ring the following apply:-

• The Handler shall always lead the horse from the left side (near side) of the horse/pony.

• All turns shall be to the right with the Handler walking to the right – around the horse.

• Failure to recognise and correct the faults of the horse/pony’s position

• Conversing with other competitors in the arena during judging is not permitted

• Loud voice commands to the horse/pony is not permitted

• Blocking the Judge’s view of the horse/pony

• Causing the Judge to move to avoid being knocked by the horse/pony

• Improperly fitting equipment

• NO WHIP OF ANY TYPE IS TO BE CARRIED

GUIDELINES FOR BEST PRESENTED HANDLER & HORSE/PONY CLASSES Guidelines for the Handler class are to be followed as well as the following:-

• A workout is required.

• A turnout cane, (up to 18 inches/45 cm in length), may be carried.

Horse Sports are a Dangerous Activity In consideration for being permitted to participate in any way in horse sport activities and in particular this event, I,_______________________________________ (PARTICIPANT'S NAME), the undersigned, understand, acknowledge and accept that: 1. Horse sports are a dangerous recreational activity and horses can act in a sudden and unpredictable

(changeable) way, especially if frightened or hurt. 2. There is a significant risk that serious INJURY or DEATH may result from horse sport activities and in particular

this event. 3. I knowingly and freely assume all such risks, both known and unknown, even if arising from the negligence of the

Australian Palomino Horsebreeders Association Inc. (hereafter referred to as the "Releasees") or others and I voluntarily PARTICIPATE at my OWN RISK and assume sole responsibility for any injury, death or property damage I may suffer that arises from my participation in horse sport activities.

4. I understand and acknowledge the dangers associated with the consumption of alcohol or any mind altering drugs before and during the activity and I take full responsibility for any injury, loss or damage associated with their consumption. I agree not to drink alcohol or take drugs prohibited by law before or during this event.

5. I agree to follow the directions of any event organiser or official and that any misconduct or refusal by me to follow any direction of any organiser or official can result in the CANCELLATION of my participation in the event and my immediate removal from my horse NO MATTER where that may occur. I understand that any such non-compliance may result in injury, death and/or permanent disability and I agree to indemnify the Releasees against all claims made by any person as a result of my failure to comply.

6. I agree to wear a helmet at all times during the event and agree that I am solely responsible for ensuring that I wear a suitable helmet at all times and take sole responsibility for my actions.

7. I, for myself and on behalf of my heirs, assigns, personal representatives and next of kin, HEREBY RELEASE AND HOLD HARMLESS AND AGREE NOT TO SUE the Australian Palomino Horsebreeders Association Inc., their officers, officials, volunteers, coaches, agents and/or employees, other participants, sponsoring agencies, sponsors, state bodies, affiliated clubs and if applicable, owners and lessors of premises used to conduct the activities (all of whom are referred to as "Releasees") WITH RESPECT TO ANY AND ALL INJURY, DISABILITY, DEATH, OR loss or damage to person or property, WHETHER CAUSED BY THE NEGLIGENCE OF THE RELEASEES OR OTHERWISE.

Effect of this Document I have had sufficient opportunity to read this release of liability and assumption of risk agreement, fully understand its terms, understand that I have given up substantial rights by signing it, and sign it freely and voluntarily without inducement of any kind. I understand that my signature to this document constitutes a complete and unconditional release of all liability of the Releasees, to the greatest extent allowed by law in the event of me and/or the children under my care, suffering injury or death.
