PREPARING FOR THE SALE
“Just In Time” Training (JIT)
• New this year, Council will also be providing “Just In Time (JIT)” training. This does NOT replace one on one training, just an additional supplement.• JIT training will consist of short
descriptive videos or written directions sent out/posted in Snap+ right before a certain event or deadline. The links to these JIT tutorials will show under the Messages section of the Cookie Sheet. This will help remind troops of the deadline approaching and show exactly how to complete that task in Snap+.
JIT Training Schedule

Training Your Girls and Parents
• Please use the provided training presentation for Girls and Families. We have this available in PowerPoint and PDF formats. This training can be gotten from your ACM or found online our councils website under the forms page. • Allot a full hour to go over training with your girls and parents.• Do not rush training. Parents that are fully aware and informed
of all the steps and processes of the cookie sale will be much easier to work and communicate with during the busy time of the sale.• Statistics have shown from past sales that parents who do not
get adequate training often end up with collections issues and/ or routinely miss deadlines for turning in orders and money.

then her name will not appear in Snap+. •We will do uploads twice a week from December
through February to capture newly registered girls. • If you have a girl that does not appear in Snap+, first
check to make sure the girl is registered to your troop for the current year. • ACM’s and/or Troops are not able to add girl
names into Snap+. • Girls names will appear in Snap+ once they are
correctly registered to your troop and council does another bi-weekly upload

Training Your Troop and Parents
• Do not rush your training, allot at least 1 hour so you can effectively go over everything with your girls and parents• You must use the PowerPoint training available on our
council website and/or through your ACM. • Check out ideas, games at ABCsmartcookies.com and
clip art on Flickr at www.flickr.com/photos/abc_bakers•Work with your girls and parents to set
individual and troop goals and decide what your troop will do with cookie money earned
Setting Goals
• It is especially important with a direct sale for all troops to set a goal and to use this goal to help with deciding the initial order.• Girls and troops that set goals sell 30% more• Set troop goal and individual girl goals• Enter and track goals at
www.abcsmartcookies.com/goals (COCO)• Girls that enter goals in COCO by January 31
earn the Goal Getter patch below
Initial Troop Cookie Orders
•Due in Snap+ by December 13, 2015, 11:59 pm• Troops should view the JIT training tutorial posted in
Snap+ on 12/7/15• Troops should use their goal and previous years orders
to help determine how many cookies they order initially.
Initial Delivery (ACM will have date, time and location)
•Bring a printed copy of your order from Snap+ and picture ID•Plan for appropriate number of vehicles and
people to pick up cookies at one time (see chart on next slide)•No kids allowed (dangerous)•Count and check cookies multiple times
BEFORE signing!•Sign for only exactly what you receive
How Many Cases Fit in My Car?
Use the chart below to help determine what size and how many vehicles you will need to pick up your
troops initial cookie order. Please note this chart is based on an empty vehicle using all space
except the driver’s seat.
Private Deliveries
• If a Troop’s initial order is 500 cases or more council will arrange to have it delivered directly to the troop• If you see that your order will qualify for a
private delivery- please work on securing a location where we can deliver your troops’ cookies BEFORE council contacts you•Council will contact the troop to find out the
desired arrangements once the initial order is placed in Snap+
At Pick Up
• Troops should have a printed copy of their order from Snap+ to in order to pick up cookies. The order can be printed from Order reports in Snap+ and is called Troop Initial Order
Troop Initial Order Report
Distributing Cookies to your Girls•Establish place and time for girls to pick up
cookies – keep weather in mind•Remind parents to count cookies before signing
the G-2 Cookie Receipt•Do not give cookies to a parent or guardian until
they sign the G-2 Cookie Receipt (triplicate form given to you with your cookie materials, this is the most important form for you to keep track of and accurate- there is one form for each girl in your troop)
G-2 Cookie Receipt
• Official form on which to obtain parent signatures• Important documentation
if collection issues arise -- transfers responsibility for payment from troop to girl/parent• Save this form for EACH
GIRL for at least 6 months AFTER the Cookie Sale ends.• Only turn in a copy for girls
that do not pay entire cookie bill
NO Selling Before January 16th
•Even though you will have cookies in hand, troops ARE NOT to begin selling cookies until Saturday 1-16 at 9am •Troops found selling before the start date may be dropped down a tier in our new proceeds plan and/or no longer allowed to participate in the sale.

COCO (Cookie Command)
•COCO= online marketing e-cards/promise ordersCOCOdirect= Part of COCO used for complete online
sales, customer gets specific COCOdirect e-card, places order, pays with credit card and has cookies shipped to them
COCOmobile= COCO’s mobile app that can go on your smart phone or tablet that gives you access to everything you can do on COCO and COCOdirect right in the palm of your hand!
Your troops have a customized web–based “business center!” Our Cookie Command Center, or COCO, lets girls
manage their cookie activities online.Set and track goals: Girls determine their individual cookie goals. They record their progress toward goals, and set stretch goals along the way. Girls choose which recognitions they want to achieve and see the ones they can earn if they sell at higher levels
Create a plan: Girls determine what activities they will undertake as part of their cookie program, choosing among a list of recommended activities and/or adding their own. Each activity is tied to one of the 5 Essential Skills. Girls earn and collect “5 Skills Bling” when they complete planned activities.
Use marketing tools : Girls can import a contact list and save this information from season to season. They can send e-cards to friends and family. Friends and family place orders online (girls still fulfill the order). Girls that send 15 or more online e-cards receive the Online Patch!
Custom COCO Dashboard: Girls can upload their own image or choose a fun avatar to personalize their dashboard. The troop/group leader can also upload a team photo to COCO’s troop page.
Custom Troop Dashboard: An ideal vehicle for volunteers to communicate with girls, COCO’s troop page allows volunteers to post messages about the cookie sale to girls and monitor the troop’s progress. Volunteers can help girls set goals and cheer them on!
With COCOdirect...Consumers can have cookies shipped directly and pay via credit card.
Girls can sell using COCOdirect in 2 ways:1- Using COCOmobile - ABC’s proprietary girl ordering app2- Using COCO Online Marketing - Girls can send an eCard to friends and family that includes a secure link to COCOdirect.
Easy to Use!For sales made through COCOdirect, there’s... NO money collection and NO hand delivery!
Customers can choose from packaging sizes:- An eight-pack sampler that includes one of
each variety- A half dozen of any one variety- A dozen of any one varietyAnd for a limited time only, they can order ABC’s gluten free Trios
Girls with at least 1 online order will receive this Team COCO Patch!
For step by step instructions on how to get set up in COCOdirect, please visit www.abcsmartcookieu.com and click on the Technology Tab, see the flyer on your thumb drive or view the insert in every girl order card.
This mobile app puts cookie selling right in girls' pockets!
COCOmobile allows girls registered on COCO to set cookie goals, track sales progress, and take orders via an iPhone®, iPod touch®, iPad® or Android device™. Girls can:Set & track goals, View recognitions, identify level achieved, track sales needed for next level & celebrate recognition achievement, Enter & manage cookie orders, View a summary of orders & item totals, Email confirmations to customers for new & updated orders, Share nutritional information & product images with customers when taking orders, Track order payment & delivery status, Export sales data, Automatically sync with online COCO information on abcsmartcookies.com.
For step by step instructions on how to set up COCOmobile, please visit www.abcsmartcookieu.com and click on the Technology Tab.
How do girls get sales credit for cookies they’ve sold online?
How does Snap+ show the financial transactions for the orders that
customers bought and paid for online?
IMPORTANTIn order for each girl to receive the proper
sales credit from any online sales, her name in COCO must match EXACTLY the way it
is listed in SNAP+ (which is the way the name was spelled when the parent registered
the girl).
It’s a good idea to have a troop meeting where all you do is look at your list of girl names in Snap+ and then help each girl set herself up
in COCO. This will prevent any sales from not transferring from the online
site into Snap+.
Planned Orders
• View the JIT training tutorial posted in Snap+ on Planned Orders 1/8/16• A planned order is when you need to order more cookies after you’ve
received your initial order of cookies. You can order more cookies once a week.
• 6 planned order weeks• First planned order due in Snap+ by Sunday January 17 at 11:59pm• Cookies can be picked up at cupboards, traveling trucks and/or warehouses
beginning January 19, 2016• Troop must place Planned Order in Snap+ by 11:59pm on each Sunday
night to be guaranteed cookies the following week• Troops will receive receipt called M-8 from the delivery agent or cupboard
manager (Save your receipts! The delivery agents put your cookie pickups into Snap after you get them. If they make a mistake in this entry, your receipt is the only documentation you have for us to correct this.)
• Available in case increments only (troops will always place orders in case quantity, be mindful when placing your order in Snap+)
• Step by step instructions for placing a planned order are in your Troop Reference Guide. Video instructions are on ABC Baker’s YouTube channel as well. www.youtube.com/abccouncils
Planned Orders
• When placing a planned order in Snap+, troops can choose to pick up cookies at a local Cookie Cupboard (often at a volunteers home), a Cookie Warehouse or at a Traveling Truck.• Each Traveling Truck will always come to the same location and on
the same day of the week, HOWEVER, the times may vary slightly due to order quantity. Please check the councils website or your Cookie Sheet in Snap+ (under the messages tab) each Monday for the exact schedule of the traveling trucks for that week.• Once you select your pickup location in Snap+, then you can not
pickup cookies anywhere other than at that location that week. Cupboards and trucks are only stocked with orders that troops placed for those specific locations and no extras.
During the Sale
• Check your Cookie Sheet in Snap+ frequently for messages. There is often important information under the Messages tab that you need to click on and read. All Just In Time Training links will be posted here also.
During the Sale
• Please continuously work with the parents of your troop when placing Planned Orders each week. Troops can easily get into problems if they do not communicate with girls and parents regarding amounts of cookies to order. Constant communication with the families about ordering quantities will ensure that they do not over or under order.•
Initial Payment
• View the JIT training on Financial Transactions & Drafts posted in Snap+ on 2/1/16• 50% of troop’s initial order drafted February 12 Transfers out
to other troops do not affect initial amount due . These are reflected in your final draft amount.• All monies should be deposited into the troop bank account by
Feb. 10• Council will send an email to TCM (contact email MUST be in
Snap+) about a week before the draft to let troop know of amount we are drafting • Check the Troop contact Information section in Snap+ to make
sure you have entered a valid email address and all other contact information. This is very important and one of the first things you need to do when you log into Snap+ for the first time.
Payment Auto drafting
• The Finance Department will auto draft troop accounts for cookie payments •We will upload troop routing
and account numbers into Snap+, but please double check to make sure yours is correct.• Bank account and routing #’s
are located in Snap+ in the edit troop information section.
DON’T FORGET…
Operation Cookie Drop (OCD)
• Troops and girls collect monetary donations which will be used to purchase cookies for our military troops • Great option for customers that don’t want to purchase
cookies but want to support the girl or troop• Troops and girls receive same sales credit and proceeds as
they would for regular box sales without having to deliver a single box of cookies!• Cookies will be delivered to military bases in May• ALL funds a troop receives from a girl
for Operation Cookie Drop MUST BE USED FOR THIS PURPOSE ONLY!!! Girls can not get sales credit for OCD if you do not count their donations toward OCD in Snap+!
The Buy 5 Program
•Customers that purchase 5 boxes or more (during a single purchase) qualify to win a year’s worth of free Girl Scout cookies•Girl Scouts give qualified customers a Buy 5
Certificate and customers enter themselves into the drawing online•Girl Scout families are eligible to win as well•One winner from each region (6)•Great way to “up-sell” customers that
purchased 3 or 4 boxes•You can use the promotion “5 for $20”
to help upsell your customers
Snap+ Booth Selection
• View the JIT training on Cookie Booth Scheduler posted in Snap+ on 1/4/16
• Booth selection will begin with one lottery• Once lottery is complete, booth selection will be on
a first come, first serve basis with initial daily limits• Troops can still secure booths that are not listed in
Snap+; called Troop Secured Booths• No limit to the number of booths a troop can select• Troops will receive email booth
confirmations• Real time booth locating for our customers
Snap+ Booth Locator
•All areas will use the Snap+ Booth Scheduler for the 2016 Cookie Sale
• Great Marketing Tool - All booths (including troop secured) entered into Snap+ are available to the public on the Booth Locator
• Having all booths in the Snap+ Booth Scheduler eliminates the chance of overlapping booths in the same area, shopping center etc…
Cookie Booths
• Troops should ALWAYS cancel a booth they are unable to host• Safety is a priority at all cookie booths• Cookie booths require a minimum of 2 adults and 2
Girl Scouts (the council can help team up Juliettes for booths)• New! Girl Scout Cadettes and up can have booths
with 1 girl and 1 adult. (Council still recommends 2 adults at all times however)• Troops should remember they are Girl Scouts and
act accordingly at cookie booths when either interacting with the public or other troops.
Cookie Booths - Etiquette
• Troops should ALWAYS cancel a booth they are unable to host• Customers get frustrated when there is no booth where there
should be one per the Booth Locator• Troops get frustrated when they lose a booth
opportunity because a booth was not cancelled in the Snap+ Booth Locator
• Safety is a priority at all cookie booths• Be on your best behavior at Cookie Booths! This is often the only
time the public sees and interacts with Girl Scouts.
Bling Your Booth!
• Bling Your Booth is a fun cookie booth contest hosted by GSUSA• Your troop could win $250!!!• Check out this video: https://

Walkabout Terminology
• Walkabouts - When a Girl Scout(s) or Girl Scout troop map out a neighborhood and then walk the neighborhood selling cookies door-to-door in a residential area with adult supervision. • Rolling Sale - Putting cookies in a wagon and doing direct sales to
customers in residential areas with adult supervision. • Cookie Stand - This is a “lemonade” type stand a Girl Scout can
set up on her own property (i.e., in front of her house) to sell cookies as her home owners’ association permits.• Caravan - When Girl Scouts go door-to-door in a residential
area while the supervising adults follow in a car with the cookies.
Walkabout FAQs
• Can I have a Rolling Sale, Walkabout, or Caravan in a shopping center, park or other public area? • No. In order to maintain good relationships with
property managers, stores, and to be fair, only booth sales are allowed in non-residential areas. All booth sales must be coordinated through your Booth Manager.
• Can we do a Rolling Sale, Walkabout, or Caravan as a troop at one of our meetings? • Yes! What a fun outing for your troop and a great way
to help girls reach their goals!
• Can we do a Walk-About, Rolling Sale, Cookie Stand, and Caravan as a family? • Yes! Girl Scouts embraces family involvement.

problem

Definition of a “Selling” Girl
Any girl with any transaction in her name in Snap+ will be automatically calculated as a selling girl. This is reflected in the
Troop Balance Summary report. Registered Girls that are not selling will NOT count towards your box per girl average.
The Box-Per-Girl Average
The number of boxes received by the troop divided by the number of selling girls
Example: Troop sold 200 cases with 13 girls selling
200 x 12(number of boxes in a case) = 2,400 boxesdivided by 13 girls = 185 BPG average
Troop Proceeds
New this year! We now have a tiered level troop proceeds plan that is based solely on the troops box-per-girl average. No more bonus plan requirements- just sell more and earn more! (Snap+ will automatically reflect the correct proceeds plan at the end of the sale, based on the troops overall box-per-girl average.)
Box-per-girl average Proceeds Rate
1-149 $0.50
With All 150-249 $0.58
Recognitions 250-349 $0.60 350+ $0.63
1-149 $0.55
Patches Only 150-249 $0.63
250-349 $0.65
350+ $0.67
Prevent Parent Collection Issues•Make sure parents sign G-1 Permission and
Responsibility Form•Get signatures on G-2 Cookie Receipt EVERY
TIME cookies are distributed•Collect payments at each meeting, or more
often is even better (at least once a week)• Limit number of boxes given to girls and collect
payment before distributing more cookies•Be organized and get everything signed off on
and you’ll be in great shape!
Uncollected Cookie Money
•Obtain T-5 Outstanding Balance form from your ACM or on council’s website•Enclose documentation (cancelled checks,
receipts, etc.)•Provide as much contact information as possible
about debtor•Turn in anybody who owes your troop by March
18– even if you think they’ll pay soon
Preventing Troop Collection Issues
• Order only as many cookies as you need to fill orders or for one week at a time• Retain receipts for every cookie transaction• Check Snap+ frequently- look at your transfers for
accuracy• Collect cookie payments from girls frequently (at least
once a week!) and deposit money in troop account immediately• Never deposit cookie money into a personal
account•Maintain detailed records of troop cookie
deposits (who, what, when)
