In Key stage 4 (years 10 & 11) students follow a course of study leading to the award of the International General Certificate of Secondary Education (IGCSE). The syllabus we are following is from the Cambridge International Examination Board. (Students in year 9 select their subject options in the spring of that year. New entry students for year 10 select their options after the offer of a place has been made). Eight subjects will be studied with English, Mathematics and one of the Sciences being compulsory. Arabic students are also expected to take Arabic language as a certificate course. Certificate examinations take place in April/ May each year with re-sits being available the following November. Advice with regard to the selection of option subjects is available from the school.

Communication between parent/teacher & school

Each week there is a newsletter sent out in electronic format to all parents. Teachers use a “Class Dojo” system which records students merit points.

Parents have access to this and are able to communicate with the class teacher using this home work diary.

Each month there is the opportunity to have coffee with the Head of School and voice any concerns issues you may have. It can also be the opportunity for a social chat if you wish.

A parent Teachers Association has been established which offers another avenue through which issues can be raised.

The Head of School & Deputy Head as far possible operate an open door policy and will try to accommodate parents coming to the school without an appointment where possible but may not always be able to do so.

Each term there is a scheduled formal parent teacher consultation session where each student progress can be discussed. This does not include a parent arranging a special appointment to discuss a particular issue with a teacher.

What the students will receive on first school day?

Students will receive the time-tables indicating specialist lessons and homework diaries. During the course of the fourth week students will receive their tablet if entitled to one.

There are various methods which are used.

Dear Parents,We would like to invite you to the school on Thursday 1st September 2016, so that you may find out the class and class teacher your son/ daughter will be placed in for the coming session ( if you are already not aware). It would be an opportunity to meet briefly with the class teacher, to introduce yourselves and to know the location of the class base. As time will be limited, this is not the opportunity for an in-depth curriculum chat with the teacher; that will come later. We look forward to greeting you on Thursday 1st September between 12:00 – 2:00pm.
