“After I had given just a few talks about the climate,
I realized that the Actions I was Suggesting to my Listeners to take,
while Essential, were NOT a Match for the Problem.”
While I suggested ways for
People to reduce their use of carbon.http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Compact_fluorescent_lamp
Congress extended a law that
gave $18 billion in Subsidies
to Oil and Coal companies.
“I realized that anything they intended to do would be Swamped
by what the Government did or did not do.”
I realized that Ordinary people like me would
have to:
• Organize,
• Educate Ourselves,
• Give up our Hopelessness and
Powerlessness, and
• Gain the Skills to be Effective with our
Government.
The purposes of CCL are:
1) To create the Political Will for a Stable and Sustainable Climate
2) To Empower Individuals to have Breakthroughs in Exercising
their Personal and Political Power.
Oct, 2007 - Marshall Saunders started Citizens Climate Lobby.

Climate challenges we need to address
1. Mitigation
● Turn off the tap = lower our
carbon emissions.
● The first priority is to price
carbon or cap it.
● Must be done nationally.
● We can do it quickly… with
enough political will.
2. Sequestration
● Remove water already in the
tub = Remove excess CO2
already in the atmosphere.
● Forests, oceans, and soil do it.
● Humans need to do it, too.
● New technologies required.
3. Adaptation
● Protect tub rims from
overflowing water = Adjust
to rising seas, drought,
wildfires, etc.
● Raising streets, building
levees, cutting fire lanes
● Localities & states are
already doing this.
● Federal help is needed.
4. Restoration
● Repair damage done – Maria,
flooding, wildfires, etc.
● Our federal failure to act has
caused this!
