Activities coordinated/organised:

● Furore: Ananya has been assigned a cultural wall by the university which

comprises four boards named as Furore. Members of Ananya decorate these

boards every third month with their articles, poems, stories etc. on it for the

students and teachers of university to read and get inspired.

● Hosted and coordinated Independence Day celebrations: The members

of Ananya hosted the 71th Independence Day in the university premises. The

event was celebrated to keep alive the flame of patriotism and highlight the

importance of the day and recall the contributions of the national leaders for the

independence of the country.

● Hosted Foundation Day and Freshers’ Party: The members of Ananya

hosted the Freshers’ party which is organised to welcome the newly admitted

students of all courses.

● Slam Poetry: The members of Ananya performed slam poetry on the

theme ‘Depression’ on the occasion of Freshers’ and foundation day 2017

● Organised auditions: Ananya organised auditions for the intake of newly

admitted students in the club. Auditions have many rounds like debate

competition, creative writing and extempore.

● Coordinated and hosted RMSF-2017: Hosted a two-day 'Rashtriya

Media Sammelan Evem Filmotsav' - (RMSF-2017) organised by YMCA

University in association with Vishwa Samvad Kendra (VSK), Haryana.

● Organised declamation and essay competition in collaboration with

IOCL, Faridabad: The students of Ananya organised a declamation and essay

competition in the university premises in collaboration with IOCL, Faridabad.

● Organised a debate competition: The students of Ananya organised a

debate competition on the topic ‘This house believes that quit India movement

disintegrated India’ in the university premises.

● Organises various literary sessions: Ananya organises various literary

sessions twice or thrice a week during the whole year to make the students learn

the various literary activities and new forms of debates, different writing styles

and group discussions, etc.

● Organised debate competition: The literary and debating society

organised and participated in a debate competition in collaboration with NTPC,

Faridabad.

● Hosted a programme on the account of Engineers’ day: The members

of Ananya hosted a two hour programme on the account of Engineers’ day at

Hotel Millennium which discussed the role of engineers in development of India.

● Hosted and coordinated Science Conclave: Hosted a two-Day Science

Conclave which was organized by the University in collaboration with

Department of Science and Technology, Haryana to mark the Swarna

Jayanti Celebrations.

● Attended an interactive session at NDTV, Delhi: ‘Reconnect with

Good’ was a special audience based interactive panel discussion which was aired

on NDTV 24x7.

● YMCA YOUTH CONCLAVE (10th -11th March, 2018)

Ananya, The Unparalleled, the literary and debating society of YMCA University

organised a youth parliament - YYC following the ideals that were presented by

our honourable Prime Minister Mr. Narendra Modi during his speech in 'Mann

kibaat'. YYC was a two-day debating event in which over 50 delegates from all

over the state represented various MPs. Three committees were simulated,

namely 'LokSabha', 'Stakeholders’ Meet' and 'AIPPM'. The agendas proposed

were 'Women safety and empowerment', 'Review of national education policy'

and 'Review of Reservation Policy in India' respectively.

The delegates were judged on the basis of their speech, conduct and content. The

winners from various committees were as follows :-

The event ended on a happy note and the delegates appreciated Organising

Committee for their hospitality and management.

● ELEMENTS CULMYCA’18 ( Cultural and Technical Fest of YMCA

University Of Science and Technology)

Events organised by Ananya:-

Insurrection

A bilingual conventional debating event organized by the literary and debating society was a team event

which provided a platform to the participants to voice their opinions. It saw some of the finest speakers

competing for the top place! The team led by Aashima and Vanshika won the first prize followed by the

team led by Utkarsh and Sarvesh.

Big Fact Hunt

A general knowledge quiz, it had multiple rounds. This mind race testing the knowledge and spontaneity of

the contestants in parallel, took this rebellion of awareness to an enormous stature. The team of

Tanushi,Pallavi and Niyati won the first position followed by the team of Prateek and Sahil

Witswilla

A three round event organized by the literary and debating society of the college, it saw the participants

compete to put their point forward in a “Group Discussion”, testing their presence in opposite shoes in a

“Turncoat” followed by the last round of “Extempore”. Aditi Utreja of YMCA took home the first prize with

a performance that really impressed the judges while the second prize was bagged by Aashima Anand.

Alfaaz The literary and debating society organized a fiesta for all the writers, penmen, wordsmiths and scribblers to jot down their artistry in the most emancipating way. This event was followed by an online competition which drew a leader board of best entries on three topics, for three weeks. However the offline creative writing competition was open for all. The offline competition was highly competitive and saw a hoard of entries come in. Utkarsh Srivastava took home the first position while Sarvesh Patidar came in second.

JAM JAM – the acronym for “Just A Minute” – was an event organized by the literary and debating society of the college. It put forward the spontaneity, reflexes, adaptability, fluency of the participants in just a minute. After the close competition in the final round, the first prize went to Anshul Koul and second to Himanshu Chugh.

Kaavyotsav In this bilingual event, the contestants unleashed the kavi in them. Kaavyotsav comprised of the poetic symposium ‘Mushaira’, the audacious ‘Slam Poetry’ and the conventional poetry ‘Poemgasm’, any way the budding poets liked to perform. Parth, Tanisha and Mandeep, Pratiksha bagged the first, second and third positions respectively. Whip It Up

Whip It Up was a bilingual, online event wherein participants were given a prompt every 3 days and they had

to send in their entries according to the theme given for that prompt. The participants could submit any form

of prose within 100 words. The winners of this event were Aditi, Aashima and Swarnim for week 1 and Aditi,

Osheen, Jyoti for week 2. Simran, Harsh and Bhuvan were given special mentions

Club Name: Microbird

● ESCALADE 6.0 ESCALADE 6.0, the annual National Robotics Championship organized by IIT Guwahati.

The Delhi Zonal preliminary round was held at YMCAUST Faridabad on 8th July-9th July

2017. The event was conducted in the University Microbird which consisted of 14

participating teams from various colleges of north India. A total of 7 teams qualified for the

Main round to be held at IIT Guwahati during Techniche 2017. The winning team of

Ashwani Gupta, Aman Garg, Yatin Bhatia, Anup Vashisth and the second runner up team of

Anubhav Aggarwal, Ujjwal Singh, Nitin Bindal, Yashika Garg consisted of members from

Microbird- Techno club, Ymcaust.

A proud moment for YMCA as 6 out of the 7 teams shortlisted for the Main round were from

YMCA.

● PLANTATION DRIVE Microbird actively took part in the plantation drive organised by the university. Members

from all the clubs in the university planted splings around the university. It was our

contribution in the noble cause for a cleaner and greener environment.

● DTMF HOME AUTOMATION WORKSHOP Microbird made a kickstart beginning for the academic session 2017-18, conducting its first

workshop on Home Automation using DTMF alloying with Basic Electronics. The workshop

saw active participation from the students. The workshop gave the students an insight about

the world of electronics and help them hone their technical skills.

● VISIT TO NATIONAL SCIENCE CENTRE-DELHI Microbird- The technical club of YMCAUST organised an educational cum excursion trip to

National Science Museum, Delhi on 3rd September, 2017.The trip aimed to sensitize the

members about the various scientific concepts used in the various exhibits in the museum.

● REIZO’17 Microbird,The technical society of YMCAUST augmented into Freshers cum Foundation

Day Celebration on 16th September,2017 by the showcasing two of its events. Shadow

Wall and Hammer Hit became the charm of the day with its technical and fun giving power.

Hammer Hit being the Fun+Tech Game of a version of your strength checking skills became

the enjoying event for from children to adults. While Shadow Wall being a wall illuminating

light out of your shadow became the attracting point for the viewers.

● ORIENTATION AND AUDITIONS Microbird organised its orientation and annual auditions so as to allow new students with an

insight to gain technical knowledge to join the club. The auditions were open for both first

and second year students. The auditions were conducted in various rounds. The first round

was the written round. The second round was a PPT presentation round for the first year and

a Group Discussion round for the second year. The final round was an Interview round after

which the shortlisted students were welcomed in the club.

● SCIENCE CONCLAVE The University organised a two-day Science Conclave on 25th and 26th October,2017. The

club members actively participated in the exhibition and well-coordinated the whole event.

● NBA ACCREDITATION EXHIBITION The technical skills of the club members were presented in front of NBA team through

various projects: -

a) Automatic Traffic Control System- An automatic traffic light system that controls

the traffic light based on density of traffic on roads using image processing techniques.

b) Smart Stove- An automatic stove that can be wirelessly controlled and has additional

features such as gas leakage sensor and whistle counter.

c) 3D Printer- A 3D printers made by the club members from scratch in fully working

condition.

d) IOT Home Automation- Home appliance automation-based project using Internet

of Things technology.

e) Sign Language Converter Glove- A smart glove which translates the sign language

into English language based on various signs made.

f) Gesture Controlled Wheelchair- A smart wheelchair whose moment can be

controlled using hand gestures.

g) Smart Bike Helmet- A smart helmet that does not let the bike start until the rider

wears it.

h) Jet Pack- A prototype of a jetpack was designed.

● ELEMENTS CULMYCA’18 Microbird actively contributed in organising the Annual Cultural and Technic al fest-

ELEMENTS CULMYCA’18 through its various events. The club organised the following

events during the fest:

a) Lumostanza- A stage event that was an amalgamation of lights and dance. It was a

dance performance where dancers wore LED Costumes and brilliantly entertained the crowd.

b) Laser Piano- It was a modern version of the regular piano where the musical notes

were played when the laser beams were touched.

c) Blackout- It was a fun cum technical game where the sole objective was to turn all

the LED panels off by aiming using a ball.

d) Battle of Brains- It was a fun quiz wherein participants brainstormed their general

knowledge.

e) TechChef- It was a technical event that aimed at testing the electronics skills of the

participants.

f) Deadlift- It was a robotics event wherein the participants had to cover a given track

and perform the given task in the shortest span of time.

g) Catch’em All- It was a technical event where the main aim was to catch the balls

that were falling after passing through various hurdles.

h) Bot Fütball- A game of football that is that is played among two bots. The aim of the

game is to score the maximum goals while protecting your own.

● INDUSTRIAL CONCLAVE An industrial conclave was organised in the university aiming to transform the ideas of the

students into industry worthy products. Microbird members actively participated in the

conclave showcasing its various events. The 3D printer and the Smart Helmet secured 3rd

position in the conclave.

Two Day Science Conclave

A Two-Day Science Conclave was organized by the University on 25th and 26th October 2017 in collaboration

with Department of Science and Technology, Haryana to mark the Swarna Jayanti Celebrations. Science Exhibition,

Short Films and Expert Lecture on science and technology were the main attractions of the Conclave in which more

than 1000 students from various educational institutes have participated.

Chief Minister Mr. Manhoar Lal was addressed the valedictory function of a Two-Day Science Conclave organized by

YMCA University of Science and Technology, Faridabad in collaboration with Department of Science and Technol-

ogy, Haryana to mark the Swarna Jayanti Celebrations in the University campus. He also inaugurated and laid the

foundation stone of various projects amounting to over Rs. 60 Crore. The function was presided over by Vice-

Chancellor Prof. Dinesh Kumar.

Addressing the gathering, Mr. Manohar Lal said that the contribution of the famous Indian Scientist Jagadish Chandra

Bose in the field of science is unmatched. On his name, the University will be known as ‘JC Bose YMCA University of

Science and Technology’. All the formalities related to this would be completed at the very earliest. He said that the

State Government would sympathetically think over the demands raised by the University for the Creation of new

Teaching and Non Teaching posts and budgetary provision for new courses. He assured that he would visit the Uni-

versity again.

Independence Day Celebration The University celebrated 71st IndependenceDay with

patriotic fervour and gaiety. The Vice Chancellor of the

University, Prof. Dinesh Kumar hoisted the Tri-colour at

the University campus.

He also took salute of March past presented by the Secu-

rity Staff of the University and addressed the gathering.

Foundation day celebration

University celebrated the 9th foundation day on

16/09/2017. On the occasion Vice Chancellor Prof.

Dinesh Kumar said that Foundation Day is the day to

remember the old days and to self-churning for future

plans for any Institution. The University is working on

important plans for the coming days which in- clude

increase the strength of student up to five thou- sand

and to introduce new advanced courses in the

University.

Competition on innovative ideas on Internet of Things

Samsung Electronics, Korea Division visited YMCA University and organised an interactive session for students on IoT

products and expected features on 15/11/2017. During the session, students were asked to renerate and provide their

expectations from next generation of IoT products or some device which can be used for safety and security of children

and women. About 50 project ideas were received and evaluated by the technical team of the Samsung Elec- tronics,

Korea and winners were awarded with prizes. The first prize won by Bhupinder and Harish Rana for their pro- ject

‘Smart Ring’. Similarly, Abhishek Saroha and Aman Pratap have bagged second prize for their project ‘Future Smart

Devices’ and Manu Dutt and Rajiv Kumar have won prize for their project ‘Striaksha’.

With the aim to promote academic research on technology-based innovation and application, the University has de-

cided to provide finance assistant to the students for their innovative projects. Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dinesh Kumar

today announced that financial assistance of upto Rs. one lakh would be provided to the students for their technology-

based innovation research projects.

The Vice-Chancellor was addressing the prize distribution function of a competition on innovative ideas on Internet of

Things (IoT) products organised by the Samsung Electronics, Korea at Department of Computers Engineering.

Vigilance Awareness Week Celebration The University in collaboration with NHPC Limited organ-

ised various competitions as a part of Vigilance Awareness

Week Celebration which was being celebrated from 30th

October to 4th November-2017. This year, the theme of the

Vigilance Awareness Week is “My Vision-Corruption Free

India”.

Mr. L.K. Tripathi, Chief Engineer (Vigilance), NHPC Lim-

ited was the Chief Guest of the function which was held to

mark the occasion.

Constitution Day The University celebrated “Constitution Day” on 27/11/2017, also

known as Samvidhan Divas in a befitting manner to commemorate

the adoption of Constitution of India. The programme was organ-

ized by the Vivekanand Manch of the University. It may be re-

called that on this day in 1949, the Constituent Assembly of India

adopted the Constitution of India, and it came into effect on 26

January 1950.

Yoga Camp

The University in collaboration with Bhartiya Yogsansthan organised a week long yoga camp for girl students living in

the hostels. The camp was being coordinated by the Women Welfare Cell of the University. A

number of girl students residing in the hostel participated in the camp and learned basic aasans of yoga. Yoga ex- perts

from Bhartiya Yogsansthan gave the tips about various types of yoga to keep body and mind healthy and disease free.

They also demonstrated many yogic postures and explained their benefits in detail. Pranayama, meditation and aasans

were the special features of this camp. The participants happily observed that they have got detailed knowledge about

different aspects of yogic exercises. Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dinesh Kumar appreciated the efforts made by Women

Welfare Cell for conducting yoga session for girl students.

Inter College Yoga Competition The Yoga teams of YMCA University won Inter-College

Yoga Competition in both boys and girls Categories which

was held on 14/09/2017 in the University premises. Echelon

Institute of Technolgy, Faridabad and Rawal Institute of

Engineering & Technology, Faridabad bagged second and

third positions respectively.

Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dinesh Kumar congratulated winners

and extended his best wishes to all the participants.

Republic Day Celebration

YMCA University celebrated 69th Republic Day with patriotic fervour and gaiety. The Vice Chancellor of Uni- versity, Prof. Dinesh Kumar hoisted the Tri-colour in the University premises. He also took salute at march past presented by the Security Staff of the University and ad- dressed the gathering. The flag hoisting ceremony was followed by the singing of the National Anthem and cul- tural performances presented by thestudents

Blood Donation Camp

The University in collaboration with Bharat Vikas

Parishad (BVP), Faridabad and Red Cross Society has

organised a voluntary blood donation camp in the

University premises on 7th Feb 2018 Above

250 volunteers including students, faculty and staff

members participated and donated blood in which

participation of girls students was encourag- ing.

Yoga Day

YMCA University celebrated 4th International Day of Yoga

on 21st June. As many as about 300 participants per- formed

yoga in a yoga session organised in the University premises.

Ms. Seema Trikha MLA from Badkhal was the Chief Guest

of the programme and participated in the yoga session.

Apart from volunteers from associated organisa- tions, a

number of people, staff and faculty members, their spouses

and students of the University attended the event.

‘International Earth Day’

The University today observed International Earth Day and organised various

programmes including Scientific Poster Gallery cum Competition, Quiz and Ex-

pert Lecture to mark the day on 19th April 2018. This year, the theme of the day

is ‘End Plastic Pollution’.International Earth Day is an annual event celebrated on

April 22 marked across the world to show support for environmental protection.

Dr. S.D. Attri, Deputy Director General, Scientist-F, Indian Meteorological De-

partment, New Delhi was the chief guest and keynote speaker of the programme

and spoke about various climate change prospective. The programme was pre-

sided over by Prof. Sandeep Grover, Dean, Institutions. Prof. Raj Kumar, Chair-

person, Department Humanities and Science was also present in the programme.

The programme was coordinated by Dr. Renuka Gupta.

IndiaSkills Regional Competition 2018

Shubham Aggarwal, a student of B. Tech (ECE) of

YMCA Univer- sity has achieved Second Position in

IndiaSkills Regional Competi- tion 2018 which was

held in Lucknow from May 31 to June 2, 2018 and selected for National Competition. The IndiaSkills

Regional competitions are organized under the aegis

of Ministry of Skill Development and

Entrepreneurship to promote the aspirational value of

skills among youth. Shubham participated in the

category of Electronics Skill in the Competition. As

many as six students from different States of North

India participated in the Competition and Shubham

bagged 2nd Position.

Executive Report:

“Personal development is a major time-saver. The better you become, the less time it takes you to achieve your goals.”

Following the ideologies of Swami Vivekananda, The socio - Cultural society of university “ Vivekanand Manch '' organised “3A

workshop” to raise the intellectual and multidimensional development of students. Over 60 students from the university

participated in the workshop. Workshop was totally interactive and involved. The workshop commenced with some games that

helped students open a bit. Then students were divided into ten groups. Every group was given a title and assigned a coordinator

from the club. Solo introduction of every participant followed the suite. Then a group game was played. One member from each

team presented the summary of group discussion held in their group. Guided Meditation was the next in the series of events

which was followed by refreshments. The food helped students to gear up for the On-the-spot Play making around the topic

previously discussed in the group. The introduction of club Members, Coordinators and J-secs was also there. At last, the faculty

“Every blood donor is a lifesaver”

Blood Donation is an important and foremost sense of duty of every human being which saves the life of many humans who

need it in urgent situations. Vivekanand Manch organized a blood donation camp in University in collaboration with the Rotary

Club. The blood donation camp was inaugurated by Honourable VC sir. The camp began at 10:30 a.m. with overwhelming

response from the students and other donors and continued till 4:30 p.m. A team of 2 doctors and 5 staff have given their

positive support and help in organizing the blood camp. More than 250 people had willingly registered for blood donation.

Haemoglobin level was checked for all the donors and few of them were rejected due to low haemoglobin content. At the end

of the day 138 people have donated their blood with great vivacity. All the blood donors were given refreshment to re-energize

them. Each donor was given a cup with a quote to appreciate and thank them for their heroic act of donating blood and saving

many other lives.

Executive Report:

“How many drops make up an ocean? Conserve Water, every drop counts”

Vivekanand Manch organized a seminar on Water conservation .The purpose of this seminar was to create awareness about the

importance of water in our lives and show ways to conserve this most important source of life. A total of 50 students attended it

and were asked to conserve every drop of water and not waste it unnecessarily.The seminar was inaugurated with a theme

video on Water Conservation and its need. An expert talk on ‘Introduction to elements of Hydrology and Ground Water

Estimation’ was given by the speaker. Dr. Pradeep Dimri - faculty coordinator of VM emphasized the need of water and energy

conservation and proposed vote of thanks to speakers. She applauded the student organisers for the smooth conduct of the

seminar

Executive Report:

With the thought of ‘VASUDHAIVA KUTUMBAKAM’, Vivekanand Manch initiated “MISSION PANCHI'' in the beginning of

the summer season (apr-may) again. This seed of the legendary initiative was sown with an objective to arrange water

and fodder for the birds and little animals which are hit hard due to high temperature. A lot of students joined and

heartily participated in this mission. More than 40 pots were installed on the University campus at different places. And

VM members make sure to refill these pots timely. Also, an awareness drive was also conducted among university

students for the same. Vivekanand Manch is happy to serve the little guests of our environment in this summer season.
