Red River College Winkler Community Learning CentreRed River College Winkler Community Learning Centre offers the Mature Student High School Diploma, or your choice of high school courses in a variety of subject areas.

If you are 19 or older, you can get your mature Grade 12 diploma with eight credits. Four of the credits must be Grade 12 subjects (one must be English and one must be Math); the other four can be at any high school level. You may even get credit for previous experience via Recognition of Prior Learning. Grade 12 is the key for most employment today and is crucial to be able to enter post-secondary programs.

Professional Programs (Full-time) 2017-18Explore opportunities to build a career, change a career or attain a promotion through full-time programs at Red River College Winkler Campus. All full-time programs require an application form with a non-refundable application fee of $100 (by cheque, cash, debit card, money order, Visa, MasterCard or American Express). This program focuses on the administrative and technical skills needed to meet the demands of the current and emerging office environment. The program provides both the theory and practice for you to succeed in an entry-level administrative position.

After successful completion of the program, you will be knowledgeable in business office software, administrative procedures, communication, teamwork and problem-solving.

Business Administration provides a broad business foundation during the first year of studies. During the second year of the program, you will declare a major that focuses your studies in a particular area, either Accounting, Administration, Financial Services, Marketing or Human Resource Management.

Some courses focus on theoretical foundations; others emphasize application of knowledge. Group projects are integral to many courses offered in this program.

This program prepares you to provide quality child-care in the community. You will study practice based on a child-centered, play-based curriculum that includes topics such as child development, guidance techniques, communication skills, family and community relations and professionalism. Upon completion of the program, you will be able to competently plan learning experiences that stimulate the intellectual, physical, emotional and social development of young children.

This program provides you with practical experience working at a variety of children’s centres.

Early Childhood Education Diploma

This is an accelerated program in which you attend classes two full days per week and work at your centre the other three days. Your practicum is completed in the workplace.

The program integrates the knowledge and experience of employed CCAs in providing quality child-care in the community. Courses offered through Red River College Winkler Campus are designed to assist adults in improving their skills, learning new skills and facilitating personal growth.

All students are expected to be familiar with general information and policies pertaining to their programs, including admissions, registration and class cancellation.

It is the responsibility of all students registered at RRC Winkler Campus to be familiar with the specific academic and attendance requirements of the diploma or certificate they plan to pursue.

Note: The College reserves the right to cancel or postpone any class, limit enrolment for any class, change instructors and class locations, change class days or dates, and restrict admission on the basis of admission criteria.

Administrative Policies

FEES • Are shown in the Program Guide.• Include a non-refundable $40 administration fee.• Are GST-exempt for most courses.• Are subject to change, as are course details.

REGISTRATION RECEIPT Hang on to your receipt. Registration receipts contain important information – including dates, times and location – and will be mailed.

REFUND POLICYIf you wish to drop your course and still be eligible for a refund, requests must be submitted in writing within timelines identified below. Drop/Withdrawal forms are available through the Winkler Campus or email [email protected].

Full-time Funded Programs• Withdrawals within the first 7% of the term will be refunded 100% fees

less non-refundable deposit; withdrawal between 7% and 25% of the term will be refunded 50% fees; withdrawal after 25% of the term will receive no refund.

Full-time Cost Recovery Programs• A refund of 50% tuition will be issued to students who withdraw during

the first five days of the start of the program. No refund will be issued on Day Six of the program or later.

Contact the Winkler Campus to determine if your full-time program is funded or cost recovery.

Part-time Courses• Partial refunds are available for courses over 20 hours. Refunds, less

the administration fee, will be issued to students who wish to withdraw, provided that the Winkler Campus is advised on the day prior to the second class of the course.

• For courses/workshops (20 hours or less), partial refunds (less the administration fee) are available. Refunds will be issued to students who wish to withdraw, provided the Winkler Campus is advised in writing one week prior to the start of the course.

GENERAL REFUND INFORMATION• Refunds will be issued in the same form as payment; cash refunds and

debit card purchases will be paid by cheque.• All refund requests are processed through a centralized system.

Approved refunds will be processed within 15 business days. During peak periods – Fall and Winter Term starts – refunds will be processed within four weeks.

• Original receipts must be presented for refund requires of non-tuition items (books, lockers, etc.).

WITHDRAWAL POLICYIf you wish to withdraw from your course (after refund deadlines) you must submit your request, in writing, a minimum of three weeks prior to the original end date of your course and before writing the final exam. Forms are available through the Winkler Campus or send an email request to [email protected].

COURSE CANCELLATIONS• The College reserves the right to cancel a course.• Unforeseen events may require a course cancellation.• Notification of changes to course schedule or cancellations will be sent

via email to your preferred email account.

TEXTBOOKS• Full-time Programs: Textbook fees are extra. Textbooks are available

online through the Campus Store at bookstore.rrc.ca • Continuing Education Programs: Textbook fees are extra unless

otherwise stated. Textbooks are available for purchase at the Winkler Campus. Most courses require a textbook. Costs can range from $20 to $300.

GRADUATIONStudents who have successfully completed a certificate program of 240 hours or more are eligible to participate in the Winkler Campus’ convocation ceremony in June. Contact the Winkler Campus at [email protected] for information regarding convocation.

SPONSORSHIPStudents may be sponsored by their employer. To be sponsored, the employer must complete a sponsorship form. Contact the Winkler Campus to receive a sponsorship form. Sponsored students will not be able to enrol online.
