Hazard Communication

Purpose

• You have a Right to Know about the hazardous materials used in your work area and the potential effects of these materials upon your health and safety.

• Meet intent of requirement contained in NASA SL Handbook, Proposal/ Statement of Work, Safety, para. 1.2– Describe the plan for briefing students on hazard recognition and

accident avoidance, and conducting pre-launch briefings.

Lithium Polymer Batteries

• Volatile when punctured

• Over-discharging causes permanent damage

– Damage is internal

– Potential fire when recharged
