International Centre for Students (ICS) services are designed

to help international students succeed academically in

a Canadian university environment, adapt to and experience

Canadian culture, share their international perspectives

and make new friends.

ICS programs and services are offered throughout the

year and include:

• Cedarwood Intercultural Retreat

• Welcome Dinner for new international and

exchange students

• International Student Mentorship Program

• Volunteer Language Exchange Program

• Intercultural Development and Leadership Program

• International Student Advisors offer students year-round support with their transition to Canada and the U of M, university policies, personal matters and more

• Orientation programs offered at the beginning of each term that meet the needs of international students

LIVING AND LEARNING COMMUNITIESEach year one designated residence building becomes home to a Healthy Active Living Learning Community that emphasizes the importance of incorporating a healthy lifestyle into the commitments of a university student’s agenda.

Students must apply to be part of this community in addition to their normal residence application.

Program Codes

1. NOMINATIONTo qualify for the exchange program, we must receive your nomination from the Exchange/Study Abroad Coordinator at your home institution. You must be a student at one of our partner institutions to be eligible to participate in an exchange.

2. APPLICATIONYour Exchange/Study Abroad Coordinator at your home institution will provide you with a link to our online application portal. Please contact your Exchange/Study Abroad Coordinator for the most up-to-date application materials.

3. ACCEPTANCEProvided that you meet all the entrance criteria, the University of Manitoba will send your digital acceptance package by email. This digital package will include vital information about arrival, orientation, and finalizing your study plan.

4. PREPARATIONYou may need to obtain a visa to enter Canada and a Study Permit to stay here legally. Please check with the Canadian Embassy in your country to get the necessary information and applications. We recommend that students apply for housing as soon as possible. The University of Manitoba Exchange Coordinator will assist you with course selection and registration.
