2017 EHS
SALARY SURVEY
Thank YouWe would like to thank each and everyone of you that participated in our survey. The response was
outstanding – so much so that it delayed our publication of the results. For that we offer our sincere apology.
The upside is that the great participation level should equate to more statistically significant and accurate
results. Most importantly, we hope you find the results beneficial to you as you seek to advance your own
career and/or seek to hire other EHS professionals for your staff. We wish you the best of success in 2018!

Client Support Manager, EHSCareers
About EHSCareersEHSCareers was launched in 2003 with the mission of supporting & advancing the environmental,
occupational health & safety profession and the careers of those in it. Our goal was – and still is, connecting
top companies with top talent in the EHS profession. As the #1 job board for the environmental, occupational
health & safety profession, we are uniquely positioned to help employers conduct targeted sourcing of EHS
talent.
For EHS professionals we provide robust and accurate job search results. As an original source of EHS job
openings, our positions are listed by employers themselves - not scoured from the Internet or traded with
“partner” sites. We also offer an EHS-focused resources section complete with articles, advice, surveys and
more to help our users develop their skill sets and arm themselves with helpful information to advance their
careers.

About the SurveyThis EHSCareers Salary Survey was distributed & collected between September 2017 and January 2018 to
the environmental, health & safety professionals in our EHSCareers network. The actual survey consists of
13 questions about the experience, education, certifications, scope of responsibilities, salary and total
compensation of individual EHS professionals. The response was outstanding as 6,446 EHS professionals
completed the survey. Most of the respondents are based in North America and they work for a wide variety
of public & private companies. They are full-time EHS practitioners with varying scopes of responsibilities.
While there are other sources that conduct EHS salary surveys that provide some good data & insight, our
objective was to provide survey results that facilitate more specific peer-to-peer comparisons. We believe the
results compiled will be a valuable tool for HR & talent acquisition professionals, EHS department heads,
search firms, and the entire community of EHS professionals that use our career site.
For employers, it will assist in determining if you are offering competitive salaries for the EHS openings you
are currently looking to fill. It will also allow you to benchmark salaries as you develop future staffing
strategies to compete for top EHS talent.
For EHS professionals, it will help determine if you are being paid competitively compared to your peers. It
can be used to aid you in salary negotiations and provide insight into your earnings potential as you advance
in your EHS career.
