Our video compression technologies are the result of years of algorithmic research and development, and have been incorporated into products sold by the largest professional contribution, distribution and over-the-top (OTT) video equipment manufacturers. GigPeak’s technology is deployed by the world’s leading cable, telecom, and satellite oper-ators worldwide.
Our BusinessFor the telecom market, GigPeak features a broad family of wideband optical modulator driver amplifiers and tran-simpedance amplifiers to serve the exploding need for fiber optic data transmission. As the demand for bandwidth increases from service providers, data centers, and enterprise networks, these optical solutions – offering power- and cost-efficiency in a small form factor – will be required for use in metro, regional, and long haul applications. GigPeak’s products include a wide range of modulator drivers and transimpedance amplifiers (TIA) for line and client side 40G and 100G fiber optic transmitters and receivers. Our portfolio includes linear and limiting MZM drivers for long haul and metro transmission, linear TIAs for long haul coherent receivers, and limiting TIAs for shorter range receivers.
For the datacom market, GigPeak provides an industry-leading portfolio of innovative optical, analog, and mixed sig-nal solutions for high-speed data transmission products. These solutions address the challenging demands of higher data rates with lower power dissipation required in data center, high-performance computing, and consumer appli-cations. The comprehensive datacom products portfolio covers single, quad, and 12-channel solutions, and supports data throughput from 1Gbps up to 300Gbps, while supporting key industry standards such as Ethernet, Infiniband, Fibre Channel, SONET/SDH, and consumer applications such as HDMI and USB3.
For the wireless backhaul market, GigPeak offers a large selection of products that cover frequencies from L-band (1+GHz) to E-band (80+ GHz), providing unprecedented communication performance for microwave backhaul and GNSS/GPS satellite systems. These products include integrated transceivers, power amplifiers, buffers, LNAs, couplers, and more.
GigPeak’s ASIC product line addresses the emerging and fast-growing markets of industrial intense computation, mega data centers, and data communications, with CMOS ASIC technologies as low as 28nm geometries.
GigPeak’s video compression products include SoCs, software, and IP for the contribution, primary distribution, second-ary distribution, and OTT markets. These solutions have been designed to provide the highest quality video encoding and transcoding at the lowest bitrates in the form of hardware SoCs, as well as x86 CPU-based software technologies. Additionally, GigPeak offers professional decoding functionality for both the distribution and contribution markets.

Long Haul & Metro NetworkingOptical communication systems on the line side have been tailored to support the major transition to 100 Gbps data rates and beyond using coherent technology. GigPeak addresses the coherent systems for long haul and metro appli-cations with a comprehensive portfolio of modulator drivers and transimpedance amplifiers. Extending its leadership position in the telecom driver market into metro applications, GigPeak offers driver solutions to interface with the latest Lithium Niobate and Indium Phosphide optical modulators, available in both GPPO module and surface mount packag-es. Using a combination of Indium Phosphide, Gallium Arsenide, and Silicon Germanium technologies, GigPeak can offer best performance amongst competitors in the smallest form factors for coherent CFP and CFP2 modules, and higher baud-rate applications.
Linear & Limiting Modulator DriversGigPeak’s advanced integrated circuits use proprietary design topologies to provide the optical communication systems with high precision signal integrity, low power consumption, and small form factor solutions. GigPeak drivers consis-tently deliver best-in-class output and stability performance, while also minimizing mission critical parameters such as power consumption. DML Driver ArraysGigPeak offers a range of Direct Modulated Laser (DML) drivers for DFB laser diode applications. The portfolio includes single channel and quad channel solutions for distances of 100s of meters to 10km (LR), including CWDM4, PSM4, and CLR4. The DML drivers support the client side with bit rates up to 28.05Gbps and are integrated into QSFP or other form factors. Sunrise ASIC ProgramThe ASIC SunriseTM family of products deploys GigPeak’s customizable CMOS ASIC solutions at 40nm and 28nm geom-etries. The robust capabilities of GigPeak’s ASIC Sunrise products address the emerging and fast-growing market for industrial intense computation that is the growth engine for many rapidly developing areas, such as high-performance computers (HPC), super-computers, mega-datacenters, and algorithm-intensive cryptographic devices, such as those utilized in data encryption. The Sunrise ASIC roadmap was developed in response to wide interest expressed from leg-acy and new customers that wish to enjoy the significant benefits of the legacy Sunset RescueTM program, but through the modern low-geometries (deployed now by various foundries) that enable low power consumption and increased processing speed. With the release of the GigPeak ASIC Sunrise family of products to compliment the Sunset Rescue product family (which provides a direct pin-for-pin compatible replacement strategy for FPGA and ASIC device designs at 65nm and larger transistor sizes such as 0.13um, 0.18um, 0.25um, 0.35um, and 0.6um), GigPeak now offers a com-plete spectrum of processes to be deployed by its various industrial customers, mainly in the high-speed communica-tion, intense-computing, test and measurement, and military-aerospace markets.
Sunset Rescue ProgramThe GigPeak Sunset Rescue Program was created to help companies faced with ASIC or FPGA component obsolescence from their suppliers, particularly for the military-aerospace, medical, industrial, and communication markets. A majority of the time, when a supplier issues an end of life, they will offer a chance for last purchase with an increase in unit price; sometimes doubling or tripling the price. This results in a huge disruption in cash flow as well as an inflated inventory for the buyer. In order to help our customers avoid this problem, GigPeak offers a one-to-one, drop-in replacement of the existing ASIC or FPGA with a structured ASIC or standard cell solution. Our proven process and methodology ensures the replacement chip meets the customer’s most stringent requirements.
