CAPITAL IMPROVEMENTS: OKUMA MA600II HORIZONTAL MACHINING CENTEROur manufacturing facility in Muscatine, Iowa is home to an integrated machining department. There are very few outsourced components in our assemblies. Aside from motors, seals and select hardware, all pump components are machined under one roof. The Okuma MA600II HMC Rail Cell is the newest addition to our wide array of machining equipment.
The 1000nm high-torque spindle enables us to apply high feed milling techniques with extraordinary accuracy,
which improves metal removal rates, reducing labor cost and lead time. The 10-pallet automatic pallet changer allows common fixtures to remain on the machine to reduce setup time in addition to improving spindle utilization while parts are being removed from the loading station. The Okuma was added in 2016 as a complement to our large part machining cell’s existing 6-Pallet 630mm HMC and 6-Pallet 800mm horizontal machining center vertical turret lathe.

SENATOR ERNST VISITS CARVER PUMPUS Senator Joni Ernst visited Carver Pump during her 99-county tour across the state of Iowa. We are a major pump supplier to the US Navy fleet, and also supply pumps to the US Coast Guard. We have services on all major shipbuilding programs, including Ford class aircraft carriers, Virginia class submarines and Zumwalt class destroyers.
The visit gave Senator Ernst the opportunity to see firsthand how we manufacture the pumps used throughout the Navy and Coast Guard fleets. While touring our manufacturing facility, she spoke with our employees regarding manufacturing processes. She also met with our management team to discuss important policy issues for the defense industry and US manufacturers.
Senator Ernst, in her first term representing the state of Iowa, is known for being the first female combat veteran elected to serve in the Senate.
Plant Manager Matt Steffen talks with Senator Ernst during a tour of our manufacturing facility.
