Sgraffito Clay – Zentangle Youth 11+/adult
You love to draw and doodle, and this is the perfect way to make a permanent drawing – on clay! Draw through a coloured slip glaze to reveal the natural colour of clay to make a plaque that is uniquely yours. All materials and firing included.

Clay for the KitchenAdults 18+
Create your new favourite lasagna/casserole pan in time for Thanksgiving —no experience necessary! This workshop will introduce you to skills in hand-building and surface design as you make your own lasagna/casserole pan. Fee includes clay, glazes, use of tools and firing. Note: 2nd class is a glazing session and will be about two hours in length.

Art in the Park 8 – 12 yearsGet creative and explore the great outdoors at our four-day afternoon summer camp. Have fun with paints, pencils, pastels and a sketchbook—carried in a beautiful art bag you can decorate yourself. Visit scenic spots on foot including the Little White School, Art Gallery of St. Albert, St. Albert Place, and St. Albert Grain Elevator Park. We’ll provide all the supplies—so dress for a mess and artistic success!

Tuesday: Art in the studio with AGSA
Taking inspiration from nature, we will make sun prints on paper and fabric – watch the process as your image appears like magic under the sun.

Create nature sketches before embarking on a leaf-rubbing nature walk to the Little White School for Game Day.

Visit the Musée Héritage Museum for a tour of the exhibit, Take Your Best Shot – My Canada, before returning to the art studio to make a collage using pictures based on the exhibit. Friday: The Art of Play
Together with sketchbooks and art supplies in hand, spend time creating art at the St. Albert Grain Elevator Park while enjoying a tour, cookies and lemonade. Drop-off and pick-up at St. Albert Grain Elevator Park

Pottery - Wheel Throwing: Level 1Youth 11+/adult
Make it a date with your teen or friend! Take a 3 session class to try out the pottery wheel and create a hand-built project. Includes step by step instruction, clay, use of tools, glazes and firing.

Pottery – Adult Open StudioAdults 18+
Participants must be current or previous AGSA clay program participants or guild members. On the second and third Sunday of each month create a hand-built project or work on the potter’s wheel this summer. Space is limited to 10 people in the studio. These sessions are self-directed and do not include instruction.
Session cost does not include clay, this must be purchased, $25/box H450/H435 from technician/studio monitor.
Notes: for the safety and integrity of our kiln, projects built outside of the sessions will not be fired.
If using wheel, remember to sign up for the following session for trimming. Studio fee covers use of tools, firing and glazing of projects.
Glazing of projects can be done on August 13 or September 10. Interest allowing, this Open Studio will run until November 12.

Are you new to painting? Scared stiff? This summer, build confidence and skills while learning essential painting fundamentals. Prepare for fun in the studios…Participants must be the age noted for each class before the class starts, no exceptions. To benefit fully from the instruction in each of the programs, we recommend you attend all classes in a session. Additional studio time is not available as registration fee is for class time only. Art is fun and often messy – come to class in clothes you don’t mind getting dirty.
Pottery course information: Students may bring a small toolbox or lidded container to hold tools and a neck-to-knee apron to the first class. For classes requiring the purchase of a tool kit, a complete tool kit can be purchased from the instructor ($25) at the first class. Wear closed-toe shoes, and for safety on the wheel we ask you to trim long or acrylic nails and leave jewelery at home.
CANCELLATIONSFor full cancellation and withdrawal policies please visit our website. Please note that classes may be canceled due to low enrollment. If you wish to withdraw or change your registration, we require 7 days notice prior to the start of the first class.
