our mission DefineD:To support and enhance the education of students in the Bentonville Public Schools.
ENRICH educational opportunities and strengthen student achievementINCREASE community involvement to promote quality educationSUPPORT teaching innovations and initiativesENCOURAGE parental participation for students to work at their highest potentialRAISE and provide funding for activities and projects which support academic excellenceELEVATE public awareness of the Bentonville Public Schools Foundation.
The BPSF Wall of Honor was constructed to serve as a permanent reminder of the benefactors who generously give to the Foundation. The Foundation Wall is maintained by the Bentonville Garden Club.
The Foundation manages close to $110,000 on behalf of several community scholarships including the Ruth Hale Barker Scholarship and the Carla and Alleen McKinney Scholarship.
Our Bold for Gold Campaign is held from August to December. Last year, community leaders and district parents overwhelmingly showed their support, with the Foundation raising $43,000. Further, 100% of the Foundation Board of Directors personally pledged their financial support of our campaign. Additionally, designated gifts in the amount of $70,800 were given to the Foundation in 2015-2016.
In April 2016, the Foundation awarded 24 teachers a total of approximately $39,087. Grants were awarded for a variety of creative and innovative projects and programs, all of which will enrich our students’ learning experience.
In cooperation with the Bentonville Public Schools Foundation, the Bentonville Public Schools established the Bright Futures Program. The Bright Futures Program works to fill student needs from food, clothing, medical/dental, household items and much more. Community support through financial and item donations made the program an overwhelming success in the first year.
The Foundation awarded $10,750 to the “Teacher of the Year” recipients. One teacher from each school was chosen by their peers. In addition, one was recognized as the “District’s Top Teacher of the Year”.
The Eights Annual Gold Rush 5k and fun run were to occur April 22th. Over 2,900 runners registered in the highly touted competitive event. The Foundation raised $78,959, providing proceeds of almost $57,865.
On May 16th, the Foundation recognized the top 21 Bentonville High School academic scholarship recipients at our Academic Signing Day Program. In addition, the teacher who made a significant impact in the academic success of each recipient was presented with a Teacher of Excellence medallion.
The Bentonville Public Schools Foundation teamed up with Bentonville Downtown Merchants for the annual Jeans Week Fundraiser. The staff purchased a pass to go casual for one week and received a punch card for offers and discounts from ten Bentonville Downtown Merchants. Close to $14,000 was raised for the Teacher Grant Program.
Support of the REAP Program, an afterschool program supporting at-risk youth. Over $9,000 was donated to outfit the REAP Room with furniture.
Provided $2,000 to Bentonville Schools in support of the lunch feeding program.
Dear Supporters of Bentonville Schools, As we are well into the 2017-2018 school year, it is beneficial to both reflect back on the previous school year to understand the impact the Bentonville Schools Foundation has had, as well as look forward to the impact the Foundation is having and will have during this school year. Over the past five years, the Foundation has invested over $1.4 million across the schools in the District. This includes direct grants to teachers and nearly $500,000 in technology investments in classrooms, allowing teachers to innovate in the classrooms and prepare our students for the future.
During the last school year, the Foundation continued to be very active in the community:
letter from the presiDent
Moving forward this year, the Foundation is evolving to focus investments in innovative STEAM solutions (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts & Math) into each and every school in the district. This year alone, the Foundation will invest in direct grants to the schools and expanded teacher grants worth nearly $250,000. As of December, the Foundation has already approved and provided grants to the schools totaling $140,000 and is on track to provide the most funds to schools and teachers in the District ever in its history. It goes without saying that the Foundation could not deliver on its mission without the support of the Bentonville community. Thanks to all who support the Foundation. We could not do it without you.
Sincerely,
Marcus Osborne, Board PresidentBentonville Schools Foundation
The Foundation’s Fall Fundraiser (previously known as Bold For Gold) raised nearly $43,000 from community supporters. Furthermore, 100% of the Foundation’s Board of Directors personally provided their financial support.Over $70,000 was provided to the Foundation in designated gifts. The Foundation manages over $125,000 in designated funds that support specific needs in the district, from support for specific schools (i.e. R.E. Baker Elementary) to specific programs (i.e. Music programs in the District). In the Spring, the Foundation net raised almost $58,000 connected with the Annual Gold Rush 5k and Fun Run. While the race got cancelled due to inclement weather, the race had its highest ever number of registrants: 2800. And we expect to have more this year.In May, the Foundation recognized the top 21 Bentonville High School scholarship recipients at our Academic Signing Day Program. In addition, the teacher who made a significant impact in the academic success of each recipient was presented a Teacher of Excellence medallion.Beyond the traditional funding the Foundation provides, there were a couple of key needs the Foundation was able to address during the year. The Foundation provided $9000 to the REAP Program. REAP is an after-school program which assist students to be more successful in their academics as well as providing them with basic essential needs and stronger bonds with their friends and teachers. In addition, the Foundation provided $2,000 to Bentonville Schools related to the lunch feeding program for children to ensure that every child in the District had a hot meal for lunch.

The Foundation was very disappointed when the Gold Rush Run had to be canceled due to the approaching inclement weather. The canceling was made for the safety of the children, families, staff and all of the runners. We do want to thank all of our participants, sponsors and everyone who worked so hard to make this event happen. Looking forward to seeing you all in April 2018.
