Events and Happenings / Will Cooper
So this Fall came and went without the Heritage Days Show. Several factors went into the hard decision to cancel the show. However, we would like to continue the event in some form and are asking for ideas and suggestions of what you think makes a successful show. As a visitor, what interests you about the show? Are you satisfied with what the Museum had to offer during past shows or is there something we have not includ-ed that would be of more interest? Have you thought about participating as a volunteer during the show and helping us present the Museum to the public? I would be interested in hearing from you about you overall impression of past shows and what you would like to see included in future events. Contact Will during busi-ness hours at 785-825-8473 with your opinions and suggestions.
Mission Statement
For the collection, preservation and dis-play of artifacts that pertain to our heritage and provide enjoy-ment and education for our members and the general public.
Thank you to Brandon Edwards for his Eagle Scout Project! He and a team of volunteers built a new kiosk for the lobby of the Museum. It re-flects the theme of the Museum and is larger to hold more material and very sturdy. All in all, a great project and we thank him for his efforts on behalf of the Central Kansas Flywheels.
The following is a list of potential projects needed to be done around the Museum. If you have an interest or wish to fund one of this projects, please contact the Museum.

Greetings to all,
As we continue to finish out the year I am reminded
just how great the volunteers are out here. I am grateful to all
of the hours they have put in transporting new donations, the
continual upkeep of the grounds, repairing and restoring oth-
er exhibits, and getting things ready for the cold snap. One of
the projects I would like to get started is the history of some
of our items. Just listening to some of the stories that come
out when we are working on things is amazing. It would be
great to get these recorded and saved for future kids to read
and hear. I had never thought about things like spacing when
you are planting corn by wire check method, and why it is
wider in some parts of the country than others. FYI it has to
do with the size of horses. We have had a flurry of activity
lately with weddings, demonstrations, scout functions, and
visitors. Join us Nov 10th for our Hunter’s breakfast. Also
keep December 15th open for a Christmas party. If you have-
n’t been out for a while come check out the new sign in table
in the Heritage Building, it was an Eagle Project. The new
SWAPS exhibit in the Museum of Scouting, it was a Bronze
Project, and all of the other new things we have.
Finally, enjoy your Thanksgiving. I hope you make it
a family event and maybe see some people you haven’t for a
few years. Sometimes life is too short and we don’t realize
how time flies. I enjoy every talk I have on the internet with
my granddaughter in Georgia. Again, thanks to all who have
helped so far this year.
Thanks to all,
Monty Hole
