Registration ProcessStudents should consider their course choiceswisely

In the JAE, applicants are posted to a coursebased on merit according to their netaggregate scores

Consider courses that are comparable to youraggregate scores, for better fit and higherchances of being admitted

Registration ProcessStudents should make full use of their 12choices

Unsuccessful in getting a place in any ofhis/her registered choices >>> posted to acourse with remaining vacancies (after allother students are being posted accordingto their registered choices)

Registration ProcessTo indicate at least 2-3 courses where theiraggregate scores are much better than theprevious year’s course cut-off points (COP)

Registration ProcessAppeal for Transfer after JAE Posting

Appeals are not likely to be successfulunless they meet the COP of the JC coursefor that year’s JAEORhave serious medical conditions

Retention CriteriaSec 4E and Sec 5N students are allowed to repeat the GCE O

Level Examination only if they satisfy all the criteria below:

a) i) Obtained no more than 2 GCE O-Level passes (excluding CCA) and an aggregate of 44 points or less in 5 subjects (excluding CCA), or

ii) Obtained 3 or more GCE O-Level passes (excluding CCA) but do not qualify for admission to Junior Colleges, Millennia Institute or Polytechnics;

Retention Criteriab) i) Will not be more than 4 years overage, for Singapore

Citizens/ Permanent Residents (i.e. born on or after 2 Jan 1997 for Sec 5N students, and born on or after 2 Jan 1998 for Sec 4E students), or

ii) Will not be more than 2 years overage, for International Students (i.e. born on or after 2 Jan 1999 for Sec 5N students, and born on or after 2 Jan 2000 for Sec 4E students);

c) Had been enrolled in a Government or Government-aided school in 2017; and

d) Had attempted the GCE O-Level Examination for the first time in 2017.

Application Procedures to Repeat ‘O’ LevelsEligible students who wish to repeat Sec 4E or Sec 5N shouldobtain the application form from the General Office andsubmit the completed form to the school in either of the timeperiods shown below:

a) First periodBetween the 1st to 5th working day from the date of release ofthe GCE O-Level Examination results.

b) Second periodBetween the 1st to 5th working day from the date of release ofthe JAE posting results.
