A LOOK INTO THE DRAFT ROOMGeneral Manager Brian Gutekunst heads up the football operations, and he and Green Bay’s coaches are known to Packers fans. But working with Gutekunst is a talented and experienced player personnel staff. uMembers of the personnel staff have spent months, if not years with

some prospects, studying for the 2018 NFL Draft. They visit schools throughout the season, attending practices, dozens of games and pro days in the spring. In each area, they have formed relationships with high school and college coaches, trying to get a better idea of who the person is, not just the football prospect.

WHO HAS BEEN THERE AT NO. 14?With its 7-9 record, Green Bay will have the No. 14 selection in the first round of the 2018 NFL Draft.uSo when was the last time the Packers chose at No. 14? It was 2000,

when Green Bay selected TE Bubba Franks.uHere is a look at the players selected at No. 14 in the first round over the

past 10 drafts (2008-17):

uWhile first-round choices certainly can be the cornerstone of a fran-chise, as the Packers have shown with Pro Bowl selections QB Aaron Rodgers (2005), LB A.J. Hawk (2006), LB Clay Matthews (2009), DT B.J. Raji (2009) and S Ha Ha Clinton-Dix (2014), and starters T Bryan Bulaga (2010) and LB Nick Perry (2012), second-round selections can prove to be just as valuable. WRs Jordy Nelson (2008) and Randall Cobb (2011) were both picked in the second and became the first duo in NFL history to both have 90-plus receptions, 1,200-plus yards and 12-plus touchdown receptions in the same regular season (2014). Other second-round picks included WR Davante Adams, who was selected to the Pro Bowl in 2017, CB Casey Hayward (2012), who became the first CB in franchise history (since 1967) to be named to the All-Rookie Team by Pro Football Weekly/PFWA, and RB Eddie Lacy (2013), who was named the NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year by The Associated Press and earned a Pro Bowl selection in 2014.

uWith 22 starters and a 53-man roster, selections in the third round often turn into significant contributors for a team. Examples are WR James Jones (2007), TE Jermichael Finley (2008), and S Morgan Burnett (2010).

uThe fourth and fifth rounds have also been a spot the Packers have found starters. Of the Packers’ main starters on the 2014-16 offensive lines, five were drafted in the fourth or fifth round: G Josh Sitton (2008/fourth round), G T.J. Lang (2009/fourth round), T David Bakhtiari (2013/fourth round), C/G JC Tretter (2013/fourth round) and C Corey Linsley (2014/fifth round). A mainstay on the Packers’ defensive line over the last few seasons, Pro Bowl DT Mike Daniels (2012) was also drafted in the fifth round. Green Bay has also found key contributors on both sides of the ball in the fourth and fifth rounds: DB Micah Hyde (2013/fifth), LBs Jake Ryan (2015/fourth) and Blake Martinez (2016/fourth), DE Dean Lowry (2016/fourth), RBs Jamaal Williams (2017/fourth) and Aaron Jones (2017/fifth).

uGreen Bay has received contributions from several late-round picks over the years, including DT Johnny Jolly (2006/sixth round), LB Desmond Bishop (2007/sixth round), K Mason Crosby (2007/sixth), QB Matt Flynn (2008/seventh), LB Brad Jones (2009/seventh), RB James Starks (2010/sixth), DE C.J. Wilson (2010/seventh), LB Sam Barrington (2013/seventh) and WR Jeff Janis (2014/seventh).

2018 DRAFT ORDER - FIRST ROUND

MOST SELECTIONS IN 2018 NFL DRAFT

2018 SCHEDULE RELEASEDThe Green Bay Packers’ 2018 NFL regular-season schedule – highlighted by five prime-time contests (subject to flexible scheduling) – was released April 19 by the National Football League.uFor the second consecutive season, the Packers open the season at

home and will play three of their first four games at Lambeau Field.uIn Week 1, Green Bay will host Chicago on Sunday night, marking

the 13th consecutive regular season that the Packers and Bears have squared off in primetime. For the first time since 2012, the Packers play two home games to open the season, hosting Minnesota in Week 2. It marks just the third time (2003, 2008) since the NFC North was formed in 2002 that Green Bay has played division opponents in both of the first two games.

uThe Packers’ first road contest is at the Redskins, marking Green Bay’s first September visit to Washington.

uThe Packers return home for two of three games before the bye, first taking on the Buffalo Bills in Week 4 and then traveling to Detroit to play the Lions.

uIn Week 6, Green Bay hosts the San Francisco 49ers on Monday Night Football, marking the fourth time the two teams have met on MNF and the first since 1999. It is the fifth time in the last six seasons the Packers have played at Lambeau Field on MNF.

uAfter the second Week 7 bye for Green Bay in the last four seasons (2015), the Packers will play four of five games on the road.

uGreen Bay makes its first trip to the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum since 1978 to play the Rams.

uIn Week 9, the Packers travel to the other side of the country to play the Patriots on Sunday night.

uGreen Bay returns home to take on the Miami Dolphins before a quick turnaround to play the Seahawks, marking the Packers’ second Thursday night game at Seattle (Week 1 in 2014). Including the postseason, it will be the seventh time Green Bay and Seattle have played since 2012.

uNovember finishes with a trip to play the Vikings on Sunday night, mark-ing the sixth straight season that the teams have met in a prime-time game.

uGreen Bay opens the final month of the regular season against Arizona, only the second time the Cardinals have played at Lambeau Field in December (Dec. 21, 1969).

uThe Packers will play back-to-back home games for only the second time in 2018 when they host the Atlanta Falcons in Week 14. It will be the fourth matchup (including postseason) between Green Bay and Atlanta in the last three seasons.

uThe Packers end the season with two road games in the final three weeks for the seventh straight year.

uIn Week 15, Green Bay will face the Bears in Chicago, a place it has won in the regular season each of the last seven years.

uThe Packers’ road slate will finish up with a game at the New York Jets, the third December game at the Jets in team history (1981, 2002). Three of the last four games at New York have been decided by single digits, including one game that went to overtime.

uGreen Bay will close out the regular season against the Lions for the third straight year and the fourth time in the last five seasons. Green Bay has an 18-6 overall mark (.750) and a 10-2 home record (.833) against Detroit under Head Coach Mike McCarthy.
