• What was innovative or outstanding?

• What were the results of this action?

• Provide evidence to support your claims

12

Tips on your submission

• You MUST use the template provided on the website

• The submission should be ONE PDF document containing the full submission

• Stay within the page count, pages outside the allotted number will not be judged!

• If you are submitting in multiple categories, ensure that you have a dedicated cover page for each category and a category specific 100 word tailored summary

13

Tips on your submission

• Do NOT include hyperlinks to external documents, videos or websites, they will not be viewed as part of the submission

• A client letter of approval can sometimes take a long time to receive – ensure you have this to lodge with the submission

• Logos and photos need to be supplied in high resolution

Some obvios points !• Check your spelling and your grammar

• Keep your formatting consistent-bullets points, numbering, indents, units, etc

• Have you answered the question- Are you sure??? Check

• Remember the judges have no idea about your project. So have it proof read by someone who also doesn’t know it

• Proof read it again!

• What did this project teach you and the organisation- then tell us about it

14

More points continued• Believe in your project and explain why, how, you

managed it

• Highlight best practice

• Its not necessarily about projects that have gone well- a lot don’t! So tell us what you did

• Start early!

• Finally allow time to complete your submission –budget on around 40 hours

15

• Gather as many photos as you can then select the appropriate ones that tell your story

• REMEMBER the photos may be of interest to you but not to your audience

• Try to have people in the photo• Photos need to be at least 300 dpi and 2MB+ for

use in printed publications • Between 5 and 10 photos can be loaded separately

and should be labelled and numbered• If it is a IT/virtual project, consider using your

marketing imagery

A word on photographs

Start with a ‘Helicopter/Satellite View’

Journalistic ContentTry to balance project speak with some plain English.

Keep it tight - short sentences without too much jargon or technical detail.

Ensure you cover the Project Management issues, not the general project issues.

Remember to have some “sound bytes” that can be used by AIPM and your organisation later.

All projects are under budget, within schedule and have delivered the scope………….

Remember you are trying to win a project/individual award not a product award………

‘Put it before them briefly so they will read it, clearly so they will appreciate it, picturesquely so they will remember it, and above all, accurately

so they will be guided by its light.’

Joseph Pulitzer
