1. Think Raipur Initiative On the occasion of National Youth Day on January 12, 2018, a program named “Arise”

was organized by District Administration Raipur and Public Relations Department, Govt. of Chhattisgarh. IIIT-NR received a special award in this program for its active participation in “Think Raipur Initiative”. Team “Soch” from our institute was among the top 18 teams and was awarded a cash prize of ₹15,000 and a certificate. The team comprised of Yogesh Agrawal, Anurag Sahu, and Keshav Krishna. On behalf of the team, Yogesh Agrawal received the award from Honorable Chief Minister, Dr. Raman Singh.

2. Science & Technology Exhibition (SCInTFIC) organized at IIIT-NR

International Institute of Information Technology, Naya Raipur organized a one day Science & Technology Exhibition, SCInTFIC, on February 02, 2018 from 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM at its campus. The entire event was planned in association with District Mineral Foundation (DMF) project of Raipur District Collector Office. The event was inaugurated by Mr. Vivek Acharya, Director, Technical Education Department, Government of Chhattisgarh. More than 1000 students from various Government and Private Schools from Raipur and nearby districts participated in the event. The exhibition was organized with an aim to make school children aware of the recent developments in science & engineering and various professional opportunities available for them. The event consisted of hands-on experience, workshops, career-guidance lectures and showcasing of hardware and software projects of societal importance like robots, drones, computer applications, smartphone applications etc. The entire event,

workshop and exhibition was planned and executed by the students of the institute under the supervision of faculty members.

3. IIIT Naya Raipur students Abhilash Pani and Md. Shadab Hussain from 2nd year, have secured 3rd Position in Tata Crucible Campus Quiz- 2018 (Raipur edition) held at GEC, Raipur on 21st February 2018. IIIT-Naya Raipur team qualified for the final six from among a total of 150+ teams from across the different places of the city. The team also won cash award of Rs. 25000.

4. Technical cum Cultural Fest „Technovate‟ organized at IIIT-Naya Raipur

IIIT-Naya Raipur, organized a two day Technical cum Cultural Fest “Technovate” on March 17-18, 2018 at its campus. The entire event was distributed in 21 sub events comprising of various technical and cultural competitions such as programming, circuit designing, web designing, robots designing, drones designing, singing, dancing, theatre, etc. Students from other technical institutes like NIT, Raipur, HNLU, ITM University, BIT, Durg, etc. participated in the competitions.

The “APPINESS” contest was sponsored by Chhattisgarh Tourism Board and they appreciated the students of IIIT-NR for organizing such an event and also for including such a contest, which gives an opportunity to the students to contribute in image development of the state, as well as in promoting tourism in the state.

5. A two-day intra-college sports fest “Aarambh” was organized by the students of IIIT-NR from March 29-30, 2018. The main objective of conducting “Aarambh” was to create a sporting culture in the college and to inculcate sportsmanship among the students. Three groups were formed and various sports competitions like cricket, football, table-tennis, volleyball, basketball, badminton and chess were conducted, where members from these groups competed, to increase their group points. Group “Titans” were adjudged winners of the competition and lifted the trophy with 60 points on the table.

6. L&T TECHgium Contest

TECHgium® is an open-innovation initiative by L&T Technology Services Limited. With this endeavour, they aim to provide a platform for the nation‟s most-talented engineering graduates to solve real-world engineering problems and also get due recognition for it. Students are given an opportunity to use their futuristic ideas to come up with creative solutions.

The presentation round of TECHgium was held from January 8-12, 2018. 53 teams across India were shortlisted for developing prototypes addressing the problem statements. Our student from 3rd year Electronics and Communication discipline, Apurv Saha, got selected for the finals of TECHgium 2018. In addition to cash prize for the winners and other rewards, students shortlisted for POC round will be considered for pre-placement interviews at L&T TS after grand finale. mentioning that IIIT-Naya Raipur is among the premier institutes that participated in

Industry-Academia Skill-Building initiative.

7. Team SANGHARSH of IIIT-Naya Raipur participated in 'Halla Bol Event ' (Nukkad

Natak Competition) at IIT ISM DHANBAD and bagged the third prize.

8. As part of the on-going efforts to support and promote entrepreneurship, „The Global

Education and Leadership Foundation‟, launched the “Shuruaat Bus: Enterprising

India, Empowering India”. In celebration of the Global Entrepreneurship Summit

(GES) 2017, this official Road to GES initiative inspired them to organize a cross-

country journey, to encourage ethical entrepreneurship and empower India‟s young

innovators. The effort was to make it possible for students at schools & colleges all

across India, to pitch their entrepreneurial ideas, interact with successful entrepreneurs

and hear inspirational stories. Apart from other institutions in Raipur, the team also

visited IIIT-NR on April 19, 2018 to interact with and motivate our students.

9. Summer Internship 2018

The first batch of our students will graduate in 2019. Before this, the institute has

facilitated their industrial internship during their summer vacations. This summer,

several meritorious students have bagged opportunities of internship in foreign

universities like National Singapore University (Singapore), Kyushu University (Japan),

Robert Gordon University (Aberdeen), Politechnico di Milan (Italy), National Chung

Cheng University (Taiwan), University of Malaya, Kuala Lumpur (Malaysia), TU-Delft

University (Netherland) and Tamkang University (Taiwan). In all 18 students are

interning in reputed foreign universities,

while some students have bagged

internship opportunities in premier

academic institutions of India like IIT

Guwahati, IIT Palakkad, IIT Kanpur, IIT

Patna, IIIT Bangalore and IIM Lucknow.

Some of the students are interning in

reputed industries, research

organizations and public sector

organizations like C-DAC (Pune and

Kolkata), NTPC, Bharat Electronics Ltd.,

Chennai Petroleum Corporation, SEC

Railways and in private sector industries

like Tech Mahindra, IBM, Wakandan

International Outreach, Artifacia,

Investosure etc. 15 students of 2nd year

are also doing their summer internships

at IIT Kharagpur, IIT Hyderabad, IIT Bombay and IIST.

Such kind of prestigious internships in India and abroad indicate the quality and

aspiration level of IIIT-NR students, who look beyond traditional industrial training for

getting a job upon graduation.

10. Divya Krishnani, our B. Tech. (CSE)

student, underwent her research internship,

during summer vacation, at University of

Malaya, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. During

her internship, she participated in Data

Science Research Symposium 2018, which

was an international conference on Data

Analytics and its Applications organized by Faculty of Computer Science & Information

Technology, University of Malaya, Malaysia. Researchers and students from different

parts of the world presented their papers in this conference. She presented her work

which she did as part of her summer internship in the domain of “Computer Vision and

Machine Learning”, as it got accepted in this conference.

11. Startups

One of the Startups “NEARFIT” initiated by a group of students, including Abhishek Kripal of IIIT-NR; Priyanjit Ghosh, Arko Biswas and Anupam Dutta of IIM Raipur; Vinay Khobragade of NIT Raipur; and Anand Panchbhai of IIT Bhilai, featured in “YourStory” (India‟s biggest media platform for the startup and entrepreneur).

Nearfit aims to make fitness affordable and exciting for youths in Tier 2 cities in India. Nearfit is

a marketplace for local fitness and sporting experiences where customers can choose to opt for a

gym membership for a specific period, or avail the facilities on a per session basis for as low as

Rs. 99, or opt for a bundle of five sessions for Rs. 299. From yoga, cross-functional training,

swimming, to trekking, Nearfit has a host of indoor and outdoor fitness experiences to choose

from.

The biggest challenge of Nearfit startup is the fact that all its six founding members are

studentpreneurs. On most days, they attend their respective classes from 9 am to 5 pm and work

on Nearfit late at night. They are driven to make it work by constantly thinking of how they can

do it differently and efficiently. Recently, the team organized Raipur’s First Water Polo event,

which was a huge success with more than 100 participants attending this first-of-a-kind event in

the city.

12. A team of six IIIT-NR students has

developed an app for National Health Mission.

The main motive behind the development of

this app was to make people aware of various

types of diseases prevalent in Chhattisgarh. The

main requirement of the client was to have

pictorial notification and a dynamic app that

could be handled using their server. This app

was developed so that it can be pre-installed in

the mobile phones that were distributed under

SKY (Sanchar Kranti Yojana) scheme of CG

Govt.
