In-Home Design & Color Consultation

Home is a space created from within. An expression of your personality, beliefs and how you live. More than an address, home is the place where you belong. This is the approach that Al-ice Pirsu takes each and every time she enters into a new relationship with her clients at Alice Pirsu Interiors.

Her passion for art, foreign languages and the richness of cultural diversity began in her hometown of Bucharest, Romania where she first became a professional tennis player at the age of 12. Later, she came to the U.S., attended university, earning an Economics and Interna-tional Relations degree. Later she earned her de-gree at the New York School of Interior Design.

In 2010, Pirsu created her own firm, with a mission to design safe, functional, elegant and timeless environments for families to grow and thrive in.

Whether her client wants a complete home renovation or simply one room, her designs incorporate the client's wish list and lifestyle, features and style of the home ensuring that the entire design concept is unified and consistent.

Anyone can sell you insur-ance -- we help YOU BUY IT!

This is the all important difference that de-fines the essence of Meridian Risk Management. Selling insurance is a transaction, managing your risk properly requires insight and under-standing. About the way you live, the hopes and dreams you have for your family, your profes-sional goals and more. When you work with Me-ridian, you work with people who have walked in your shoes, for four decades.

Their experience extends across the spec-trum of insurance risks, so they are uniquely qualified to accommodate your needs as your assets and responsibilities grow.

During your Spring Home Improvement project, you might be interested in consulting with Meridian about wide range of Home Insur-ance that is available today. Even an excellent home owners policy leaves exposure and that is true for all carriers -- Meridian offers solid Um-brella Insurance that protects you.

While you consider insurance for your home, think about Auto Insurance as well. Be-cause of all the unusual weather lately, your automobile is subject to falling trees and limbs from nasty storms. Meridian can help in this area as well.

Spring into Lawn and Garden Care with the Right Landscaper for You

If this crazy cooler weather has you longing for sunny days outdoors, take heart. Once spring kicks into full gear, you can safely begin the annual cleanup to prepare your yard for months of warm-weather enjoyment.

This year's Spring Home Improvement section is fortunate enough to have four wonderful local lawn care experts that are ready to assist you in this task.

They can start by helping your evaluate your lawn and gar-den, looking for bald spots where grass has grown sparsely and needs reseeding, or uneven areas that may need to be filled and leveled.

In addition, they may need to treat weed-infested areas with the proper herbicide. They will clear your garden and beds of any winter debris and gently turn the soil and work in fresh fertilizer.

Pruning is sometimes a overwhelming task. Let the experts take care of that for you. They can also make great suggestions regarding plants and flowers for your gardens...even a vegetable garden.

The warmer months are coming, so get out there and get your lawn and garden ready.

Spring Home Improvement Starts at the Top....Your Roof!

Update your home's appearance: If your home was not built recently, you may be pre-pared to renovate and bring your property up to date. A new roof can provide your house with the new look that you want while also enhancing your home's energy efficiency and weather dam-age protection.

Choose the style that best suits your prop-erty: Your home should be a reflection of your personal taste. While Paul the Roofer specializes in slate and tile roofs, they glad-ly work with all types of roofing and roofing materials so that the finished product is exactly what you envisioned.

Recover from disaster with ease: Nature can be unpredict-able, but cleaning up after a storm doesn't have to be a hassle. If your roof has been damaged during inclement weather, just call Paulie for expert repairs and patches to get your home back to normal. Insurance work is welcome.

Avoid costly damage: Even a small leak in your roof can re-sult in water damage to other parts of your home. Save yourself from the expense of major home repairs by contacting us at the first indication of a leak. Paulie the Roofer will locate the source of the problem and effectively repair the leak to keep your home and everything inside it safe and dry.

Leave the dirty work to us: If your gutters are full of leaves and muck, they can't do their job properly. On a rainy day, they could overflow and potentially cause water damage your home. You know they need to be cleaned out, but you just can't find the time. No worries! Paulie and his crew can clear your gutters out to ensure that they will direct rain water away from your property during the next storm.

Prepare for the next rainfall: Your home and yard are sus-ceptible to water damage if your gutters are damaged or if you don't have any at all. Get you home ready for the next rainy day by installing new seamless gutters that will keep excess water from running down the roof and walls and keep run-off from puddling and creating a muddy mess in your yard.

All loose leaves are to be placed curbside between through April 30 and again between October 15 and December 15. The Village DPW picks up every day and works their way around the Village picking up a section at a time on a revolving basis. No pick up after Dec.15. After Dec. 15 items must be held until loose leaf pick up begins again on March 15. Do not mix twigs, branches, rubbish or any other materials in the leaf piles as it contaminates the piles and they will not be accepted at the organic waste site.

Gas Powered Leaf Blowers: The Village does not allow gas-powered leaf blowers to be used from May 1st to

October 14th and from December 16th to March 14th. Violations by a property owner or your lawn maintenance provider can result in enforcement action against the prop-erty owner including a $250.00 fine, by Village Police.

Organic Waste: April 1 through December 15. All organic waste must be placed curbside after 7

p.m. on the night before collection date on specified days only.

April 1-October 9. Area A & B-Wednesday

October 15-December 15. Area A & B- Monday through Friday

Organic defined as all grass clippings, flowers, leaves, brush, small branches and twigs must be put in either a biodegradable paper bag or an open 30-35 gallon contain-er. Garbage cannot be mixed in with organic waste. All bags and containers must be placed at curbside for pick up on specified days only. Branches should be in 3’ lengths bundled and tied. Christmas trees are picked up by the DPW at the curb from Dec. 26th to January 31st only. No organic pick up between Dec.15 and March 15. Items must be held.

4 Simple Steps to RedecorateYour Landscape

· Choose a style -- formal, soft, woodsy . . .

· List what annoys you most -- no privacy, too dark . . .

· Note how much time you spend puttering around outside.

· Have some kind of budget.

Paulie the RooferPaul Georges

Slate & Tile Specialist and Expert on Stopping Leaks on any roof

516-621-3869Most homeowners take roofs for granted -- until they start to leak. Then they face tough decisions weighing cost, aesthetively easy to install and inexpensive, but are environ-mentally unsuitable since after about 20 years they have to go to a landfill. Real wood shingles (or shakes) are attractive, moderately expensive, but are not fire resistant and they attract insects. Real slate tiles can be very attractive and last up to 100 years, but are quite expensive.

Paul Georges, known professionally as Paulie the Roofer, has been fixing roofs in and around Pelham for over 25 years. His specialty is slate and tile roofs but he can stop leaks on any roof.

Professional roofers like Paulie are normally licensed by New York State, so that’s one credential homeowners might check for when comparing contractors. It’s also a good idea to get a written proposal and to check which neighbors for names of reliable roof-ers. No Pelham Village permits are needed if the work is limited to repairs.

Please call Paulie at 516-621-3869 for a free estimate. He has local referrals.
