Keynote speakersKathryn Nell, EGM, Talent, Capability & Organisational Development, People & CultureNBN Australia

Kath Nell is the Executive General Manager for Talent, Capability and Organisational Development and has been with NBN for 4 years with the sole purpose to make NBN a high performing and great place to work. Previously Kath has worked in a variety of sales and human resources roles in Australia and the USA in the media, technology and consumer packaged goods industries leading transformational change. She works flexibly during the netball season to coach one of her three daughters’ netball teams.

Genevieve Looney, A/Director, Workforce Planning and PerformanceWorkforce Planning & Development

Genevieve is the Acting Director of Workforce Planning and Performance at the Ministry of Health and is responsible for leading, coordinating and contributing to the development and implementation of workforce planning and workforce performance processes and systems. Previously Genevieve’s substantive position is at eHealth NSW as the Implementation Manager working on the statewide rostering program. Genevieve has a clinical nursing background and has worked in various health management roles and also holds a Master in Human Resource Management.

Jim Kelly, Director, Health and Return to WorkSafeWork NSW

Jim Kelly is the Director of Health and Return to Work at SafeWork NSW. He is responsible for leading a range of specialist areas of behalf of the work health and safety regulator including workplace health, ergonomics, mental health and return to work.

Jim has extensive experience across many industries leading regulatory services and human resource teams in workplace health and safety (WHS) prevention, injury management, and rehabilitation.

When Jim is not working, he loves to spend time with his young family, getting active in the outdoors and enjoying the sun and surf.

Paul Scott, Manager Mental Health Counselling and Support ServicesNSW Rural Fire Service

Paul Scott is the Manager for Mental Health and Counselling & Support Services at the NSW Rural Fire Service. Paul is a Crisis Intervention Mental Health Specialist with around 30 years’ experience that includes suicide intervention, crisis counselling, traumatic incident response and hostage negotiation. Since 2006, he has undertaken consultancy assignments with World Vision International (Staff Care Program) in Eastern Europe, South East Asia, Africa and the Middle East. Recent deployments include Turkey near the Syrian Border and Bangladesh for the Rohingya refugee humanitarian crisis. He holds tertiary qualifications in Community Organisations Management, Adult Education & Group Work, and Counselling & Psychotherapy.

The Plan aims to address the long-term forcasted workforce needs of NSW Health to ensure that the system educates, recruits and retains appropriate numbers of doctors, nurses and midwives and allied health professionals in the appropriate locations.

Community of HR Professionals (CoHRP)

The CoHRP is a Community of Practice supporting the HR profession from across the NSW Public Sector to be a key contributor in delivering business outcomes through workforce management, by information sharing and professional development. Rostering is a critical enabler for patient safety, quality of care, staff wellbeing and organisational efficiency. The Framework for Rostering in NSW Health 2018 – 2023 outlines a collective commitment to continuous improvement in rostering practice and provides the vision for a program of work to educate, promote and support roster managers in developing their rostering capability.
