Sub: Process for RDSO approvals of Tipplers as per G-33/ Rev 1.

The current process of wagon tippler installation approvals at Wagon Directorate, RDSO (as per

extant specification G-33/Rev-1) is being streamlined by this office. The modifications in the

procedure for approval are being communicated through this note for your kind information.

Clauses 3.0 & 4.0 of the specification referred at (1) above relate to Design & General

Requirements respectively. Your company has already submitted information, drawings and

documents in the initial stage in the form of tippler proposal referred at (2) above as per G-

33/Rev 1. These conceptual design and general arrangement documents are acknowledged as

duly received and will be kept aside for purpose of record. All doubts/ queries raised in this

regard will be replied by this Directorate in the appropriate manner through clarifications.

Clause 5.0 of the specification referred at (1) above relates to “Safety Requirements”

and has three sections of Construction, Installation and Utilization Stages which are the crucial

proving out stages. All RDSO tippler approvals will be pended until the new tippler has been

installed and the design is proved compliant to safety requirements as laid out in the

specification in real terms on-site after actual installation. An approval in the proforma of

Annexure 1 of the G-33/ Rev-1 spec will then be issued as a type approval for the candidate

conceptual model design of tippler. All subsequent installations of identical design will be

covered by this type approval, subject to location specific approvals by the concerned Zonal

Railway and RDSO need not be approached for case-by-case tippler design approvals for

identical tipplers.

Parallel approvals for project location and siding design etc. as currently done by

concerned Railway divisions/ Zones may continue as before. These must however, be

completed well in time prior to the final approval of tippler by RDSO.
