President 2019 Annual Report This report will highlight some of the work done by the President on behalf of the Association over the past year. Having just completed my third year as your Association President, I continue to marvel at the complex roadmap that defines teaching today, and the fast routes, roadblocks and U-turns that go along with it. Serving as your President has continued to be an interesting, busy, rewarding, and occasionally frustrating experience. Many questions came across my desk via email, phone calls and texts. Even though all the answers may not have been what members may have hoped, I also found that in many cases, there are no simple answers. Pembina Trails School Division Budget and Staffing The Board approved a budget of $178,530,436 for 2019/20, an increase of about $5.0 million over 2018/19. This translates into a 2.9% increase in expenditures. The total government contribution through the Funding of Schools Program to the budget is $58,974,090 which is 33% of the total budget. This represents a 5.4% increase in provincial support over last year. This increase in funding is due mainly to an increase in enrollment over the past year and changes to the equalization calculation in the funding formula. The portion of the budget increase not covered by the province is being supported by the local tax base. The average homeowner with a house valued at $408,222 will see a $7 decrease or -0.3% in school taxes. The Board budgeted for an increase of 35.8 FTE teaching positions to accommodate a projected increase of 387 students. Over the past 6 years the student population, not including students from the international program, has risen from 12,595 in the 2013-14 school year to a projected 14,437 students for the 2019-20 school year. This is an increase of 1,842 students over a six-year span. Fortunately, our teacher FTE has also increased, rising from 896 FTE in 2013-14 to a projected 1030 FTE in 2019-20. Trail Talk Newsletter and Teacher Agenda Each member was emailed a link to the five yearly newsletters which are posted on our PTTA website. A limited number of paper copies were sent to each school/work site. This year also marked the first time that PTTA produced a Teacher Agenda for each teacher in the Association. The agenda books were very well received by our members and will be produced again for the upcoming school year. Thanks to Michelle Watson, our PTTA Administrative Assistant for her exceptional work in preparing our newsletter and the Teacher Agenda’s this past year. Contact Time, Timetables and Workload Contact time information was collected in the fall. This year, the information was once again collected online using Survey Monkey. For the second year in a row, the total number of returned surveys increased from just over half of our members responding to

Page 10: 2019 ANNUAL REPORT PTTA AGM Package.pdf · organization and as settlers to these lands in the Red River Valley. We are located on Treaty 1 land; the original lands of the Anishinaabe,

640 responses or approximately 65%. The survey will once again be done online next year. It is important for members to remember that contact time is NOT prep time. Contact time is the amount of time that a teacher is either teaching or supervising students. This includes any assigned duties that teachers may have, but excludes the mandatory 10 minutes before the start of school and 5 minutes before the start of afternoon classes, as proscribed in the Public Schools Act. The average contact time was originally calculated for the three levels of schools based on the schools in the Fort Garry School Division in 1999-2000. Grievances There were two grievances filed this past school year in response to violations of the Collective Agreement. One of the grievances was settled without arbitration while one is still in the process. Remember – Union Gives Strength! School Visits and Gatherings We continued to visit schools this year and achieved our goal of visiting all 34 schools. It is important to get out to schools to talk to our busy members and engage in face to face conversations. The dates for the school visits in the 2019 – 2020 school year have been set and appear in the PTTA Teacher Agenda that is supplied to all members in the Association by PTTA. Professional Development ASCD Conference on Educational Leadership I attended this conference hosted by the Association for Supervision and Curriculum Development (ASCD) in Nashville, Tennessee from November 2 - 4, 2018. The conference was informative and practical, bringing current issues that included:

• Several sessions on mental health

• Equity and social justice

• School leadership in the face of cultural diversity

• Culturally responsive schools and classrooms

• Reducing anxiety in classrooms

It was a very intense three days of learning. Thank you to the PTTA President Training and Development budget for supporting my attendance at this conference. Constitution and By-laws Due to a legal opinion, MTS had requested that all Associations in the province, including PTTA, review their Constitutions, By-Laws, and Policies to ensure that they line up with the Policies of MTS. Due to the ongoing bargaining scenario with the government and the Education Review, this constitution review by Local Associations has been moved much farther down the priority list and will take place when the future direction of public education in Manitoba becomes much clearer.

Committee Work and Annual Meetings As President, I sit on the following PTTA committees: Association Council on Education (ACE) and Board-Association Council on Education (BACE), Collective Bargaining, Education Finance, Resolutions, and Joint PD Management. As President, I am also an ex-officio member of all PTTA committees. We held our PTTA Executive Training Workshop on September 11th, 2018 with Norm Gould, MTS President, presenting an update of the political climate and MTS priorities regarding bargaining and the Education Review. We also had a half-day meeting on April 9th, 2019 for the PTTA Executive to discuss the 2019-20 draft budget. Our annual PTTA Head Council Representative Training Workshop was held on October 16th, 2019. Head Council reps met with MTS Staff Officer, Dan Turner, who presented a workshop on Social Media Awareness with explanations of how media is increasingly being used by our members and the pitfalls to avoid as a teacher when using social media. I also provided a quick review of the Head Rep binder. Our Substitute Information Meeting was held on February 13th, 2019 at Shrine House. Many thanks go out to Rachel Hallson, Smart Find Express operator, who once again answered many of the questions posed about substitute issues. Rachel also provided an updated sheet of FAQ’s that have been posted on the PTTA website. Manitoba Teachers’ Society At our MTS Annual General Meeting, 21 PTTA delegates and two alternates spent three days deliberating the many issues in our profession. The AGM was held May 23, 24 and 25th, 2019 at the Fairmont Hotel. This year was the 100th Anniversary of the Manitoba Teachers’ Society and was celebrated with a gala evening. The evening was very well received by delegates and guests alike. This AGM also included participation in the Solidarity Forever Parade in conjunction with other Manitoba unions to celebrate the 100th Anniversary of the 1919 Winnipeg General Strike. The Collective Bargaining Protocol which was developed over the past year by the Collective Bargaining Standing Committee, was passed in its entirety by Provincial Council. The Protocol now becomes the MTS playbook that will guide our actions if and when the government legislates Bill 26 - Teacher Centralized Bargaining. The Provincial Executive has the authority to make changes to the Protocol as needed this year with debate and approval of any changes at the 2020 AGM. On January 10th, 2019, we held our annual Pre-Retirement Seminar for teachers and their partners. Registrants were provided with personalized pension information. TRAF made a presentation on the structure and health of the plan. TRAF also made a presentation on the various retirement payment options available to teachers when they retire, as well as optional insurance that is available. There is a pension seminar for PTTA members set for January 16th, 2020.

On December 5th, 2018, a Pension Sustainability Seminar for early to mid-career teachers from PTTA, STJATA and MITT sponsored by MTS and held at McMaster House. TRAF made a presentation on the current health of the pension plan. Glen Anderson from MTS also led a discussion on what was happening with other similar plans in Canada, and what might be some possible changes to our plan in the future. Retirement Reception The PTTA Retirement Reception was held on June 11, 2019 with 78 people in attendance. Special thanks to Michelle Watson and Sandy Welbergen for all of their work in making it a success again this year. Retirees were gifted with an original, hand carved soapstone owl by Aboriginal artist George Bird. I wish to thank Bob for his positive leadership skills and support. I also wish to thank the Executive members and Council Reps for their involvement, dedication and commitment to PTTA. PTTA Professional Development Committee On January 23, 2019 the restructured PTTA PD Committee met and concluded that it was apparent that the goals of the PD Committee were being met though other avenues - due in part to advances in technology such as the Divisional calendar of PD events, email sharing between schools and members and PD posts as well as information sharing at Executive and Council meetings, Trail Talk and MTS newsletters. As well, the PD Committee no longer assists in the organization of an annual divisional PD activity which was one of the main activities of the committee. It was decided that at PTTA Council meetings, the Vice President – Professional Development would include a 5 – 10 minute Spotlight on PD presentation. PTTA members or guests would highlight and share information, personal experiences and opinions on past, present and future professional development topics, conferences, workshops, activities, trends, ideas, sessions or presenters. I would like to thank Sandy Welbergen and Jo-Anne Gibson for their input and dedication to promoting the importance of PD for our members. I would also like to thank all Spotlight on PD presenters:

• Jo-Anne Gibson, Library Learning Commons Consultant and Middle & Senior Years Literacy Consultant at Pembina Trails

• Jarrold Wiebe, Middle Years/Senior Years Numeracy Consultant at Pembina Trails

• Cheryl Chuckry, Professional and French Language Services at MTS

• Val Wood, Principal of Whyte Ridge School

• Chrislyn Fontaine, PTTA Equity and Social Justice Chair

Professional Development I attended and participated in the following professional development opportunities:

• The international Traveling Together Towards Inclusive Education Conference Dublin, Ireland in March, 2019

• The 2nd International Conference on Bilingualism in Malta, in March, 2019.

• Six meetings as a Board member of the Science SAGE group STAM and attended the STAM SAGE MTS PD Day

• Five meetings as a Board member of The Peaceful Village

• Two MTS EAL workshops ACE/BACE – Association Council on Education/Board Association Council on Education The ACE and BACE Committees met five times in 2018 - 2019. I chaired the ACE Committee that provides an opportunity for teachers to express issues, concerns and policies that will be directly addressed to Trustees and Superintendents at BACE. This

• Request to automate/update the process for booking buses

• Tri-Conferences and other event scheduling concerns, i.e. breaks/supper/leaving

• Violent Incident reporting

• Class size

• Busses and substitutes for gym teachers away for events

• School Councillors – decrease/lack of divisional meetings/networking opportunities

• Impact of the 2019 – 2020 funding announcement

• Updated information request from previous BASE meetings

• ESJ Survey results and information sharing

• Watson implementation/impact on teachers

• Clevr TM

• Hiring of substitutes

• Education Review - information sharing

• Administration positions/appointments and Divisional Policy

• SRO’s in schools

• A Year in review-shared feedback from BACE members ACE Committee members: Debra Morrissey (Chair), Bob Mauthe, Lise Legal, Rob Rutledge, Chrislyn Fontaine, Kent Whiteside and attendee Mary Ferguson. BACE Committee members: PTTA members Bob Mauthe, Debra Morrissey, Lise Legal and one other ACE member as decided/volunteered. Senior Admin. members are Ted Fransen, Elaine Egan, Iain Riffel and Board Trustees are Jaime Glenat and Kathleen McMillan. I wish to thank the members of the ACE and BACE Committees for their commitment and dedication to work together to achieve goals. “A teacher’s workplace is a student’s learning place.” I value the direct communication we have with the Board and Trustees to discuss issues and look forward to continuing to chair the ACE Committee. PTTA/Pembina Trails Joint Professional Development Fund Management Committee This committee met six times this school year and it was my responsibility to take the minutes for each meeting. The committee is comprised of four members of the Senior

Administration team and four members of the PTTA Executive. During the course of our meetings, the committee reviewed the applications submitted by members to receive support for various local and non-local PD opportunities. All applications that met the required criteria were approved for funding. As per our Collective Agreement the Fund allocation for 2018-19 was $495,927.00. The revised balance for 2018-19 (which includes the 2017-18 carryover of $456,900.03) was $952,827.03. I am happy to report that we have reduced our carryover from previous years by $149,421.98, leaving $307,478.05 to be carried forward to next year. There was a total of 515 applications in 2018-2019 in the following categories:

• 111 in Category 1

• 126 in Category 2

• 224 in Category 3

• 45 in Category 4

• 9 in Category 5 Guidelines for the fund are reviewed annually. The following are changes for 2019 – 2020:

• Category 2 applicants can now apply to Category 1 in the same year

• Category 4 applicants can now request an additional one-time payment of $1,000.00 for an outside expert presentation, collaboration/classroom offsite visit which is only for the PLT participants.

The Joint PD Frequently Asked Questions document is posted on our PTTA website at www.ptta.ca and there is also a link to the FAQs on Pembina Trails’ website and updated with the new changes. I assisted and offered input, feedback and edits for the 2018 – 2019 Joint PD brochure. The brochure can be viewed on the PTTA website www.ptta.ca . 25 Year Celebration Luncheons It was my pleasure to attend a luncheon this year celebrating two members who reached their 25th year milestone in teaching. School Visits During the course of the year, I attended almost all scheduled 35 school visits. I enjoyed meeting and networking with our members, listening to their concerns and sharing PD information with them. Response and feedback from members are such that they appreciate us coming to their schools and having the opportunity to ask questions and voice concerns. Trail Talk I wrote articles, provided information and assisted in editing for all five editions of 2018-2019 Trail Talk. I found this to be an effective vehicle to share interesting articles and to provide timely information about professional development issues to our members. Pembina Trails Board and Budget Meetings I attended two Pembina Trails Board meetings this the year. Social Media The Twitter account for PTTA, @ptteachersassoc, continued to be used this year. Tweets have been made from this account celebrating the work of the PTTA, highlighting various PD opportunities, notifying followers of events in Pembina Trails, MTS, and Manitoba’s Department of Education, and informing followers about current educational issues and trends. PTTA is currently following 467 people and has 452 followers. I would like to thank those members who follow us on Twitter and those who forward me articles and pictures to be shared on our account. I would also like to thank Ray Job at MTS for his expertise and assistance. New Teacher Orientation and Booklet In August 2018, I attended Pembina Trails’ New Teacher Orientation, welcoming approximately 70 new teachers to PTTA and highlighted information about the workings of PTTA, Professional Development, the Joint PD Fund and SDC. I reviewed and assisted in updating and editing the New Teacher Booklet for the 2019-20 school year which will be distributed in August, 2019. Thanks to Michelle Watson for all her edits! Council Head Representative Training I was part of the Executive team that prepared and delivered the head rep training for PTTA’s Head Council Reps in October 2018.

Substitute Information Meeting Along with Bob and Lise, I attended the Substitute Teachers’ Information meeting on Thursday, February 13th, 2019 held to share information and hear feedback from substitute teachers. There were approximately 30 substitute teachers in attendance who had the opportunity to ask questions and share concerns. Special thanks to Rachel Hallson for attending this meeting on behalf of Pembina Trails School Division. As the SFE Systems Operator for teachers, her expertise and knowledge were greatly appreciated. Retirement Celebration I attended the PTTA Retirement Celebration on June 11, 2019 held at De Luca’s to honour our retiring members. I congratulate them all! Thanks to Sandy Welbergen and Michelle Watson for all the planning for this celebration that made it a great success. Grade 12 Graduation Ceremony I will be attending the Fort Richmond Collegiate Grade 12 graduation Ceremony to present the PTTA scholarship. Acknowledgements: I have been most honoured to serve as PTTA’s Vice President – Professional Development again this year and appreciated the opportunity to work on behalf of all our members. I would like to thank our Executive who are a dedicated and knowledgeable group of professional educators and demonstrate commitment and concern for teacher needs and the teaching profession. I would like to express gratitude to PTTA’s President, Bob Mauthe, who is a strong steadfast leader – qualities that are so necessary during this very uncertain and complex time for teachers. I also thank Lise Legal, PTTA’s Vice President - Collective Bargaining for the work she does on behalf of the Association. Special thanks to PTTA’s Administrative Assistant, Michelle Watson, for keeping everything on track and having the answers to the many questions I ask – again and again. I would also like to thank this group on a personal note for their continued kindness, patience and extension of support and friendship. I wish everyone a fun in the sun kind of summer! Vice President-Collective Bargaining

2019 Annual Report Thank you again for allowing me to serve you as Pembina Trails Teachers’ Association Vice President – Collective Bargaining. My portfolios included Chair of Collective Bargaining, Chair of Workplace Safety and Health, and Chair of Education Finance. I was also a member of the MTS Collective Bargaining Standing Committee as well as a member of the Canadian Teachers’ Federation Advisory Committee on the Teaching Profession. PTTA Collective Bargaining With the expiration of our current Collective Agreement on June 30, 2018, your PTTA Collective Bargaining Committee spent much time in 2017 - 2019 designing and refining opening proposals and planning for negotiations. With the legal goal and responsibility of establishing a new Collective Agreement, PTTA invited the Pembina Trails School Board to negotiate a new Collective Agreement on multiple occasions. Our first letter to open negotiations was sent to the Pembina Trails Board Chair in February 2018. The Board declined our invitations well into the summer of 2018. At the end of July 2018, PTTA informed the Pembina Trails School Board that we were applying for interest arbitration as per The Public Schools Act. The Board initially took the position that arbitration was unnecessary and proposed for both parties to commence negotiations. Nevertheless, PTTA requested the Board appoint an arbitration nominee and provide PTTA with the name of this appointee. The Board ultimately provided their arbitration panel nominee. The Arbitration Board was finally established in January 2019 and hearing dates were subsequently set for April 2020. Simultaneously, in response to the Board’s proposal to commence bargaining, the PTTA Table Team presented our Opening Package on December 18, 2018. The Association made it clear in its opening reservations that it took the position that The Public Services Sustainability Act (Bill 28) remains unproclaimed and therefore does not have the force and effect of law, and is in any event, contrary to The Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms. Nevertheless, PTTA and the Board further met on February 12th, April 10th and May 17th, 2019. No more meetings are scheduled at this point as the Board has expressed that they cannot offer a sufficient settlement proposal and that third-party adjudication through the interest arbitration process will be necessary to resolve an amended Collective Agreement. Essentially, this is the same position the Association has held since last July. Nonetheless, PTTA continues to remain open to resume bargaining at any time should the Board contemplate offering a sufficient settlement proposal beyond the parameters of Bill 28. Collective Bargaining Standing Committee I served as Metro Region Coordinator with CBSC. We met frequently to discuss and plan for collective bargaining in the complex bargaining landscape created by this current provincial government announcements. PTTA member and CBSC Chair,

Ashley Deeley Michaluk, MTS Assistant General Secretary, Tom Paci, and MTS Teacher Welfare Department Head, Arlyn Filewich as well as MTS Economic Analyst, Mike Bell provided current information regarding economic indicators and trends. As directed by Resolution BA1 from Provincial Council 2018, the main mandate of this year’s CBSC was to operationalize Provincial Bargaining Protocol. The Protocol was passed at the 2019 Provincial Council. The success of this work is a result of extraordinary collaboration within the CBSC. It is significant to identify that our very own PTTA member, Ashleigh Deeley Michaluk spearheaded the CBSC through this very complex and daunting process. Ashleigh’s great leadership and poise were key factors in the incredibly productive climate of the CBSC. Thank you, Ashleigh, for your indispensable talent and tireless dedication! Education Finance I attended the fall and spring Education Finance Seminars at MTS. Joseph Worbanski, MTS Policy Analyst, and Mike Bell, MTS Economic Analyst, provided detailed information about public school funding as well as information regarding population growth trends, etc. Pembina Trails School Division continues to have the privilege of a strong economic tax base which helps compensate for a low provincial government funding level. These Education Finance meetings are of tremendous value in a climate where the current provincial government continues to propose various austerity measures specifically targeting education and funding of education. Note that there will again be growth in both student and teacher populations in Pembina Trails Schools. Workplace Safety and Health I attended two regional WS&H meetings this year covering information about workplace reporting, investigations and harm prevention. There was also a special WS&H presentation on November 14, 2018 regarding violence in Manitoba schools. School safety continues to be of paramount importance to all members of a school community and we will continue to work diligently to support healthier, safer schools. Thank you to everyone who communicated ideas to me. Thank you also to all 2018-19 WS&H representatives! Public Education Review Consultations and Preparation On May 4th, I attended the “Write to the Review” workshop at the University of Manitoba. Presenters from MTS, MASS and U of M discussed best ways to prepare and highlight recommendations for the provincial government to consider as they try to redesign public education. I also attended three Public Education Review Consultations – one in Carmen, another in Steinbach and the third in Winnipeg. Connecting with Schools Thank you to every PTTA member who has connected via email, phone or during personal visits to share information, concerns or questions. As in previous years, I had many opportunities to connect with PTTA members. Along with Debra and Bob, I had the privilege of visiting PTTA members at their schools. These visits are an extremely

The business of MTS members involves countless hours of profound attentiveness and discernment to protect and enhance the rights of all MTS members. We are fortunate to have so many PTTA members give selflessly in the professional care of teachers. Lastly, another great AGM highlight is that our very own PTTA member, Carla Bouchard was elected as a member of Provincial Executive! Bravo Carla! MyProfile PTTA members continued to register at MyProfile. MTS is planning to use MyProfile frequently in the months to come. It is likely that all Manitoba teachers will need to be promptly informed and mobilized in response to announcements by this provincial government regarding public education. Appreciation

• Public Sector Advocacy Thank you again to all PTTA members who continued to advocate for public education throughout the year; thank you to each member who communicated with elected officials to express recommendations regarding public education. Employee Benefits Annual Report 2019

Pension Sustainability Seminar - December 5, 2018

• MTS expressed great concerns over the “unknown” factor created by the recent government actions. While there have been many suggestions and rumours about benefits and pensions, no details have been shared to the time of this report. This means that there is continued concern and uncertainty regarding the future of our benefits and pension packages.

• TRAF has expressed concern over the rising number of retired teachers in relation to the number of active teachers. They expect that by 2035 the number of retired teachers will outnumber the active teachers by a ratio of 10:7. TRAF has suggested the following alternatives may have to be considered in order to maintain the health of the pension plan:

o Reducing ancillary benefits like bridging for early retirement o Increase premiums

MTS/TRAF Pre-retirement Seminar - January 10, 2019

• TRAF suggests that people attend at least three of these sessions before retirement as there is so much information to process.

• Active teachers can register online for TRAF services at https://www.traf.mb.ca/

• Active teachers on leave are reminded that they can continue to make their pension contributions if they want to.

• Additional voluntary payments to the pension plan can be made if it works for you financially. Use the online guides to help you with this.

Prescription Drugs

• Members are reminded that if they take medications for chronic conditions, they can go through Express Scripts and get the medications mailed directly to you. Sign up at https://www.express-scripts.ca/

Employee Benefits Metro Region Meeting - April 17, 2019

• There has been a restructuring of the disability benefits payout plan to fix an inequity that had occurred under the old structure. Our level of coverage will stay the same, and there is no anticipated increase in premiums resulting from this change.

• The Benefits Plan is looking at adding glucose monitoring machines as an allowable medical device and the test strips added to the drugs coverage.

o In places where this change has occurred, plans saw a substantial decrease (the number 86% was mentioned) in the health costs for those members living with diabetes for related diseases or health care issues.

• Short Term disability premiums will increase in 2020. The premium rate rose from 0.17% to 0.18% on March 1, 2019.

• MTS has provided several vignettes on their website called LifeSpeak, that deal with several topics such as mindfulness, eating well, sleeping well, etc.

o These videos are available in both English and French and are available at www.mbteach.org/mtscms/2019/01/07/lifespeak-wellness-platform/ .

Public Relations Annual Report 2019

This year was one of calm for public relations. I had attended the MTS PR seminar the

previous year and was unable to attend this year, however was able to obtain the power

point for the session.

PTTA will once again be providing five $600 scholarships, one for each high school, to

deserving graduates who are entering education studies.

This year we once again were able to support the I Love to Read Month by providing a

gift certificate to each school to purchase a book for their libraries.

I will not be on executive next year due to family commitments. I have enjoyed my time

working on executive for all members in the Pembina Trails School Division.

Respectfully submitted,

Jennifer Paszkat PTTA Public Relations Chair

Member-at-Large Annual Report 2019 I would like to take this opportunity to tell you what an honor and a privilege it was to serve on the PTTA Executive as Member-at-Large. Throughout the year I have had many opportunities to speak to knowledgeable members that are passionate about issues, affect all teachers and strive to improve, inform and update various aspects for all involved. In these volatile times, I have had the luxury to empower myself with information and surround myself with professionals that have made a difference in the lives of other colleagues throughout the PTTA. I have had the opportunity to attend Council meetings, PTTA Executive meetings, attend MTS AGM, assist in nominations for Provincial Executive, and participate in MTS PRIDE activities as well as attend a regional meeting regarding the issues that teachers face with our current government. All these events have allowed me to prepare, discuss and inform others of the changes that are occurring in our professional lives as well as the changes that affect our students. I feel that the work done at PTTA has continued to give strength to members by working as a collective for the betterment of our professional duties and responsibilities. I would like to extend a huge thank you to all the reps and members for their time and efforts in promoting PTTA and in supporting other members. All their work has been invaluable and has not gone unnoticed. Wishing you a well-deserved summer ahead and many happy adventures for you all. Respectfully submitted, Mishelle Russo PTTA Member- At- Large

Member-at-Large Annual Report 2019 I am privileged to have completed my second year as Member-at-Large on the PTTA Executive. It has been a pleasure to continue to get to know council representatives from across the division and I look forward to furthering these connections next year. I am excited to have the opportunity to represent our association and to continue to grow in this role as a member of the Executive. Throughout the 2018-2019 school year I have attended council meetings, executive meetings, a school board meeting, and the MTS AGM. On November 9th and 10th, 2018, I attended Indigenous Chairs’ Training where I had the opportunity to connect with representatives from across the province. On May 25, 2019 I participated with hundreds of members of MTS in the parade commemorating the 1919 Winnipeg General Strike alongside various unions from across the city. It was such a unifying experience of support and solidarity. As a member of the Executive, I look forward to continuing to support our membership. Many thanks to all of our reps, your time and efforts are greatly appreciated. Wishing you a wonderful summer!
