IMPROVISATION AND THEATRE GAMES AFTER SCHOOL PROGRAM
(September – December 2019)
(DESIGNED FOR 2ND, 3RD, 4TH AND 5TH GRADERS)
This is a semester Program that is designed to introduce
students to the art of Improvisation and Theatre Games.
This course is for students who are truly interested in
the foundation of ‘Acting’! It is also for students who
have a true interest and curiosity of Theatre Arts as a
whole.
From the beginning, students will be thrust into an
environment of creative expression!
Improvisation trains students to use their instincts in a manner that
creates and sustains a creative moment while offering appropriate
and realistic action/movement and dialogue to move a scene forward.
Within the boundaries of the playing space, students are encouraged
to think and act without preparation in order to present a vivid
interpretation of the scene that they are attempting to convey.
Theatre Games incorporate focus exercises that will aid in assisting
students in finding a comfort zone as part of the group as well as
finding their own unique manner of expression. As the students
explore the world of Improvisation and Theatre Games, the exercises
will give each student an opportunity to learn about and bond with
fellow students enrolled in the program. As they develop creative
dialogue to express themselves, students will also be given guidance
on proper speech techniques in order to enhance their voice and
speech. Students will explore these techniques through a variety of
exercises, individual and group projects.
The goal of this semester program is to build the confidence level of
each student and to establish a comfort level in navigating creatively
as an individual, as well as in a group setting. The students will
complete this program having discovered or having a clearer and
more in depth understanding of their own unique talents and abilities
that can catapult them into being more creative, effective and
believable in their creative expression.
NOTE:
• This semester Program WILL NOT culminate in a performance.
• The course will be held every Monday from 3:30-4:30pm in the
Theatre Room with Mrs. Flanders. Please call 415-637-6395 with
any questions that you may have.
• Program is scheduled to begin on Monday, September 9, 2019
• SEMESTER COST: $200.00 per student. Payment must received
by Friday, September 6, 2019
• Payment can be made by Cash, Check or via Pay Pal
• ONLY students that have paid will be enrolled in the course.

INTRODUCING ANN MILLER ETIQUETTE
Ann Miller’s etiquette classes are based upon the studies and facts that if young boys and girls are taught how to properly interact with others early in life, their chances of developing into responsible, positive and productive citizens are increased.
“You can never have enough etiquette skills,” is why this program is being offered at Briarmeadow Charter School beginning September 19 through December 11 from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m.
The children will master social awareness in all aspects of etiquette with creative role-playing in real-life skits. Students will learn the importance of first impressions, how to get along with each other, how to communicate with friends, family and adults, how to be helpful at home, proper dining manners and much more!
The parent of a former student stated, “I am looking for poise, basic manners and proper interactions with people.” This is exactly what Miller’s classes deliver. And it doesn’t take long for the children to get hooked on participating in these lively, entertaining classes. The children sense how much Miller, a former school teacher, cares about them and their future well-being. She has taught etiquette at T.H. Rogers School since 2001.
The students will be presented with certificates after the classes.
FALL CLASSES Wednesday Classes: September 18, 25; October 2, 9, 16, 23, 30;
November 6, 13, 20; December 4, 11 All classes are from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m.
The cost of the September through December session is $150 per child and is due at registration. Please make check out to Ann Miller Etiquette.
