Hi everyone!

Today the Year 5/6 students and I travelled to Ballarat for our combined Small Schools annual excursion. We will be

staying at Sovereign Hill until Friday. Expected time of return is 4.30pm. I’m sure we will have much to report for our next assembly and newsletter!

Mrs Miller will teach Waratah all week for her last week

before she goes on maternity leave. We held a special afternoon tea for Rachael on Monday. Thank you to all who attended, (and added items to her baby hamper), to

wish her well. We will miss Mrs Miller, and thank her for her dedication to teaching in both Banksia and Waratah classes. Her technology expertise and advice has been

much appreciated, as well as her knowledge of science and environmental education. We hope to see Mrs Miller back at Burrumbuttock when her new family is settled.

We hope she enjoys the quality time with her daughter and new baby boy!

We survived the first week of our Intensive Swimming Program. In fact the water confidence and swimming

skills of our students is to complimented. The second half of the program will be held during Week 8.

Yesterday Mrs Koschitzke and I attended Finance Professional Learning meetings. The new system can be challenging, but it is great to be kept up to date with the

latest information and reports.

The Expression of Interest process for the 2020 Temporary Teacher positions is completed. To ensure that I took a transparent and professional approach to this process, I sort the advice and expertise of a colleague who is an Instructional Leader. It is with pride that I inform you that the teachers seeking employment at our school were of a very high quality and the decision was not easy. The Temporary Teacher position for 5 days per week, teaching Waratah in 2020, will be filled by Mr Chris Powys. Mr Powys is currently teaching in the Griffith area, has experience in small schools and is moving to Albury next year. He will visit Burrumbuttock to meet the school community before the end of the year. Mrs Amanda Church will be teaching Banksia Class 3 days per week, and I will teach Banksia 2 days per week. I would like to thank Miss Joanna Merrilees for her dedication and contribution to Burrumbuttock PS. I wish her all the best with her future teaching career and I will be supporting Miss Merrilees as much as I can to gain experience in other school settings to further develop her teaching skills and expertise. She will be missed and hopefully will return to Burrumbuttock in the future. Next Wednesday at 3pm our School Assembly will be led by the Year 3 students. All welcome!

Regards Lynne Johnston, Principal

He is able to work independently, and as part of a group. Izack shows initiative and seeks ways to get involved. He maintains constant focus when instructions are being given, and this helps him understand what is required. Izack self-regulates emotional responses when faced with learning challenges and is learning to do the same in challenging social situations. Remembrance Day

On 11 November 1918, the guns of the Western Front fell silent after four

years of continuous warfare. On the 11th hour on the 11th day of the 11th

month, a minutes’ silence is observed and dedicated to those soldiers

who died fighting to protect the nation.

What’s Happening;

Intensive Swimming Program Last week the students completed week 1 of the

Intensive Swimming Program at Gould Swim School, with the second week commencing on

Monday 2nd of December. All students have been very respectful towards their swimming

instructors, developing their swimming skills and water safety awareness!

We started with a busy lesson on Monday doing 1 min of treading water it was harder than it looks. Then on Tuesday we had a 100m swim and then 2min of treading water. Wednesday we learnt about tumble runs, which is a summersault in the water. We also did butterfly, breath stroke and freestyle. By Rhys, Wil and Jordan First, we had to wait until the people called our group. I was so excited they finally called my group. We lined up. Will went first, then Charlotte, then finally me. We dived into the pool and did freestyle. Next we did froggy kicks with a noodle. I made it to the end, it was hard. Finally, we went to the big group for a relay race. I had to race against Toby, it was hard and my team lost. Lastly, we did the biggest bomb. Ella, Taylor and I did the biggest bomb. I was tired out by the end of the day. Savanah Lindner- Year 2

I had a paintbrush, I did freestyle with them.

Tyson Johnston- Kinder

First, we jumped in the pool and did freestyle. Then, we did backstroke. Next, we did froggy legs. Finally, we did a bomb, it was good. William Frohling – Year 1

newest bundle of joy! We wish her all the best with the safe delivery of a healthy little boy and can’t wait to meet him for

cuddles!

Uniform Now that winter is over & school jumpers are put away, could all parents check that their jumpers don’t have another families name on them as a number of jumpers are missing and therefore could be in the wrong cupboards. Please also label all hats and summer uniform!
