2020 - 2021
White Rock Concerts celebrates Beethoven’s 250th anniversary with a stellar performance of the famous Septet. That’s the work about which Beethoven wrote: “I wish they would burn the piece...nobody is listening to anything else I have written!” An all-star Vancouver ensemble headed by violinist Nancy DiNovo and clarinetist José Franch-Ballester will also present some rarely heard works: Beethoven’s Wind Quintet in E flat major, WoO 208 as well as the Sextet in E flat major, Op. 81b. Our Artistic Director Emeritus, George Zukerman will introduce the programme with a spoken blog.
Two dynamic quartets join forces to perform an energized and varied programme that features some of the most popular and beloved French music: Chabrier’s elegant and sprightly España, as well as the premiere of a new arrangement of Ravel’s Bolero. The juxtaposition of 4 percussionists and 4 pianists will dazzle and delight with a firework of 16 hands and 80 fingers!

Vancouver’s Chor Leoni Men’s Choir is known world over for their eclectic and adventurous programming, engaging stage presence and warm sound. The choir returns to White Rock bringing the best of their repertoire including works by Whitacre, Lang, and Esenvalds. Add to this, rollicking folk song and popular tunes and you will see why this choir is one of the most popular choirs in North America.
After Angela Hewitt’s highly praised performance for WRC during the 2011/12 season, she returns with a fantastic programme that includes Beethoven’s rarely heard Eroica-Variations, Op. 35 as well as the monumental Sonata in F minor, Op. 5 by Brahms. One of the world’s leading pianists, Angela Hewitt appears in recital and as soloist with major orchestras throughout Europe, the Americas, Australia, and Asia and we are thrilled to welcome her again to White Rock!
[Note: Programme subject to change at artist’s discretion.]
