In the spirit of love, I want to share with you my top 10 gifts with which to impress your Valentine this year:
1. Tickets to the Monster Truck show! 2. A big box of laundry detergent! (nothing says “love” like soap) 3. Vacuum cleaner! 4. Any good appliance! (women love power tools) 5. Paper shredder! 6. Electric fry pan! 7. Can of soup! (portable, tasty, one of a kind) 8. A gift certificate for laser hair removal! 9. Gas station flowers! 10. Gym membership! (says more than you might imagine) 11. A weekend get-a-way trip to see the In-laws!
Yes, Valentine’s Day is just around the corner! And now is the time to start planning for this momentous occasion. Are you ready? Have you even put any thought to the matter? Let me give you some expensive advice on the subject.
The best gifts come with no strings attached. Romans 6:23 says, “The wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.” There are no strings attached. You can’t do anything to get God to love you more or provide you with any more than He already has. Jesus paid it all. God designed His love to be presented in such a way that only He could cover the cost of our sin. It had to take a God-worthy sacrifice to cover a God-shaped void created by our sin. The best gifts come with no strings attached.
You can afford the greatest gift. What could be better that to give someone you know the oppor-tunity to hear about the one person that has changed your life forever! Just cover these three main things: Your life before you met Jesus; Your experience of meeting Him (when and where); and how your life has changed since you met Him! This won’t cost you much to share. The rewards are eternal and magnifi-cent! Cheap jewelry and mylar balloons are a waste of money. Instead, give the greatest gift.
The best gifts are powerful. Be careful, because if you choose to share your faith this Febru-ary with someone you might encounter a changed life. Romans 10:9-10 says, “if you confess with your mouth Jesus as Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you shall be saved; for with the heart man believes, resulting in right-eousness, and with the mouth he confesses, resulting in salva-tion.” When you share your faith with someone you love, a pow-erful change might occur in their life. The best gifts are powerful.
So, are you ready? Do you have the tools to make a good choice? I hope so. Have a wonderful February!
James
