Lulovs & Etrogs
We will be selling Lulovs & Etrogs this year. Unfortunately, we had to use a new company and the Lulovs & Etrogs prices went up. The cost is $50 per set. If you would like to order one, the office needs your order and payment immediately.
Mah Jongg ladies enjoying bagged lunches outside every Tuesday this summer.
This summer we had Mah Jongg with some of our regulars. Everyone who attended had a wonderful time. Lunches were eaten outside and bagged lunches were provided. The tables inside were at least 6 ft. apart and when everyone arrived, their tempera-tures were taken and waivers were signed. It was extremely safe and an enjoyable time was had by all. Kudos to Sandi Shechtman and her crew.

SHANA TOVA
Beth El 2
From Rabbi Krauss
The Jewish year 5780 is rapidly becoming history. How different it is from last Rosh Hashanah. Future generations will probably say that 2020 was a year of dramatic change. An unseen virus has affected the world. Governments are caught between ministries of finance and ministries of health. Effects vary, but nearly all of us have experienced life style changes. Many are faced with serious financial worries. Others have been infected or faced the loss of dear ones. Some are hardly affected at all. There are even those like war profiteers who have made money.
As Jews our concerns deal with synagogues, Jewish institutions, charities and schools and uncertainty still remains. From Mel Brooks to Jerry Seinfeld, Jews have out of proportion become comedic entertainers. This may very well stem from our unique history. An example of this was sent to me by a dear friend, Prof. Yitzhak Sharon.
What sort of Yom Tov is this? Like Purim we wear masks Like Tisha B’Av we wear slippers Like Sukkot we will eat outside Like Pesach we clean with wipes When will it end so we can make Havdalah? Among our precious possessions is time. We will have to
spend much of it to return to the old normal. L’Shana Tova!
MISSION STATEMENTMISSION: It is the mission of Beth El Synagogue to meet the individual and collective, spiritual, religious, educational and social needs of its members within the framework and principles of Conservative, egalitarian Judaism; to further the causes of the Jewish People and the Jewish community; to support the State of Israel; AND TO DO SO with the purpose of Torah, Prayer, and Acts of Loving Kindness. GOALS: • As a House of Prayer: to provide valued, inspiring religious services, in a
strongly-guided Conservative and egalitarian atmosphere where every member may pray and meditate to the level he or she chooses.
• As a House of Study: to provide high quality education and educational experiences for every member through a religious Hebrew School for children that values learning and leadership participation in services; through adult study of Talmud, commentary, and values; and to assist members to grow in their Jewishness and to celebrate their Judaism.
• As a House of Assembly: to encourage and provide opportunities for members to be warm, embracing and caring; to facilitate Jewish growth through programs, activities, and shared contribution; and to provide an environment which strives to value and ensure mutual consideration, respect, care and assistance

Oy! What a year it’s been. Covid-19 stopped us all in our tracks. We had to stay in our homes for a month and then slowly we were able to come out to shop, go to the beach and to dine out in the Paris like cafes.
It also stopped our fund raising events – no huge Mah Jongg/canasta game days, though we did have a small group with lunch outside. There will be no Sisterhood Luncheon, no Boscov's Friends Helping Friends and no holiday bazaar. All the “no's” do not mean Sisterhood is not working to raise funds.
We are selling Beth El masks, taking orders for next year’s Mah Jongg cards and the gift shop is open every day for all your gift giving needs. The letter for Sisterhood dues will be coming soon and it is more important than ever for EVERY women of Beth El to join. Beth El needs your help now so please come back to services, shop our gift shop and join us.
Stay healthy and stay safe. You are safe at Beth El.
