LETTER FROMTHE EDITOR
This COVID 19 pandemic has been controlling our lives for 2 months now but it looks like some relief is coming. At this moment, Vice President Mike Pence is in Orlando to discuss the current situation and how to go about reopening our state. Most businesses have begun partial openings in the last couple weeks in accordance with CDC guidelines. The thing that really bothers me is that bars have not been able to open. I am not in the bar business, but Thunder Roads Florida has MANY friends that are. These small businesses and the people they employ need to get back to work! This virus does not discriminate and from what I see, it can be as easily transmitted at Walmart, Lowes, and other big box stores that are packed with people, as it can be in a bar. If proper social distancing is practiced, common sense tells me that it shouldn’t be any more dangerous at the local pub. I like the way Governor DeSantis has been handling things, but I think he dropped the ball on this particular part of our economy. There are close to 50,000 bartenders in Florida and countless more servers that need to earn a living for their families. Tourism is the main economic driver here and our bars and restaurants are a vital part of it. Let’s hope they can get open soon.
Because of the chaos, we are still only able to print a smaller version of the magazine for the third month in a row. Next month we anticipate getting back to normal. We are still waiting for word on some of the summer activities and rallies. We are looking forward to OB’s Americana Custom Bike Show on June 28th. They are giving away $1000 for Best in Show, and we are featuring the People’s Choice winner in the magazine! And there is a bikini contest scheduled so definitely a reason to get out and ride! As always, you can get all the up to date info
on our calendar/events page but call the venue or bar to be sure the events are still on. In the meantime, please support our advertisers as they try to work their way through this difficult time, keep riding, and make sure to stay safe.
See ya on the road,
T.J.

On Main Street in Daytona Beach George Merced has a cool stop for purchasing premium cigars and miscellaneous gifts, T shirts and jewelry. Along with his brick and mortar location he also sets up booths at Froggy’s, Main Street Station and Affliction on Main Street and at other major rallies. George and his wife Kelly love to ride so stop in and meet them. They are in the process of moving from Ohio to Daytona and look forward to meeting new riding partners. You can also order online at chromepremiumcigars.com.

On a beautiful Monday evening a crowd gathered at the Flight 747 Lounge on Airport Road in Jacksonville. The air was bittersweet as we gathered to dedicate a chip table to the memory of our beloved Leather Lady, Patty Trantham, whom we lost on December 7, 2018. Patty had been collecting and trading Harley chips for years. Occasionally, she would sit out on her screened porch and arrange the chips on a wooden table, post pics on Facebook and comment about completing the table once she had enough chips.
Sam Bond offered to complete the table. He too had been collecting and trading chips over the years and spoke with Patty on numerous occasions about the table and that he would donate some of his chips to complete it. Patty’s family lovingly agreed to let Sam complete the table. The dedication was made on February 10th with a group of about thirty of Patty’s family and closest friends. Patty’s family wants the table to remain at the 747 Lounge as it was Patty’s favorite watering hole. If you are in the area, be sure to stop in at the 747, have a cold one, see the table and share a memory of Patty.

As the Co-Vid hell drags on, I worry for some of our friends and their businesses they have worked and struggled to keep afloat through recessions, lawsuits, fights with city officials and hurricanes. Some of their trials and tribulations have been self-inflicted…bad business choices, bad employee choices, failure to comply with the city, others have been beyond their control such as our redundant hurricane season. BUT this corona
mess I am starting to believe is more than just a viral bug on steroids. And our clients have absolutely no control over their destiny. The government can’t possibly believe that it is okay to open-up restaurants and serve
drinks, while keeping the bars who pay TOP dollar for their liquor licenses shut down. That isn’t fair at all! Why can’t they figure a way for social distancing just like the gyms, golf courses, restaurants, and the mall. I am much more afraid of the strangers in line at Wal-Mart than the folks I sit next to on a barstool at The Boat Bar in Port Orange. Often my fellow drinkers are more family than friends! This shut down has hurt everyone but Lowes and Amazon Prime. If I must catch Co-Vid, I would hope it was while I was having fun drinking with friends and not buying toilet paper. I had to fly to Louisville to take care of my sister after a knee-replacement. The flight on Allegiant was incredibly cheap like 58 bucks roundtrip. I was told the plane would be empty by the news channels. I was also told that I would need a mask. So, I bought a box of masks from the pharmacy. Shoved a few in my purse and TJ dropped me off in Sanford. The staff all wore masks. Some passengers did and some didn’t. I decided to keep mine on, because the plane wasn’t empty and the crazy thing is they loaded us like sardines in the back of the plane…right next to each other…no empty seats in between…the front of the plane was empty. I stood up and snapped a photo of it with my cell phone and a steward came and asked what I was doing, and I told him putting the photo of our non-social distancing on Facebook. He said, “Oh we are getting ready to allow you to move anywhere you want on the plane!” I replied, “Well that is nice, but what moron came up with first loading us like cattle to rub shoulders before separating us?”. He was quite nice and didn’t take my camera or make me delete the photo. The whole world is screwed up right now half is caused by the left’s insane hatred for Trump, the other half is a bunch of doctors and government officials acting like they know what to do when obviously most of us have more sense than they do!
Try to ride to a local watering hole as soon as they open, buy a stranger a beer and don’t forget even with a mask you still need your sunscreen!

By luluOB’s in Deland has become one of the most happening hot spots in Volu-sia County with theme parties during the year, monthly birthday bash-es for the regulars, huge Wednesday night bike nights and live music Wednesdays, Fridays, and Saturdays. Two times a year their bike shows are bigger than most rally events anywhere. The Russ & Bob Knuckle/Pan show in November and the Americana Bike Show in June fill the HUGE parking lot and property. And do not forget the food they dish out at OB’s! I love their burgers and cannot wait for them to open back up to the masses!! Bike Week was a party all 10 days with great live music! Do not forget them as a spot for poker runs. Kristi and crew love to host your events so give them a shout out!

A short ride from the Bike Week central madness, which is Main St. Daytona, out on Rt. 44 at Volusia County Fairgrounds in Deland is a very “HOTT” event called the Burning Bike. There is camping and vendors all week to create the party, and on the final night they torch a massive wooden motorcycle. This is the biggest and most amazing bon fire you will ever see. Word must be spreading because over the last few years the crowd size has really grown. Troy at Fastlane Productions puts on one hell of a show with a band and bikini contest rounding out the evening. The “Sgt. Will Gardner Harley Fundraiser” was also there raising awareness for their military veterans’ support campaign. See more about this effort at specopscharity.com/harleyfundraiser/. Put the Burning Bike night on your calendar for next year and enjoy a fun time.

So, a bunch of freedom loving Renegades decided in April it was time to get out and ride for our freedom to do so. Meeting up at OB’s Cochise Chops from Chop’s magazine and Cap Wilson gathered and led us all the way across the Sunshine State with stops at Pirat’s Oasis in Umatilla and Swampy’s in Dunnellon before landing at Scooter Haven in Inglis. The host at Scooter Haven had hamburgers and hot dogs for us. The group really enjoyed making the three stops at places they had never been. I overheard many saying they would be back to camp at Scooter Haven in the future. Even Willie from Tropical made the ride!! Thanks Cochise and Cap for reminding us of the power of freedom!

DRAGGIN’ AT FLORIDA
SUNSHINE NATIONALS
By T. J.On the last Sunday of Bike Week when the Corona cancellation was in effect, I did something different and took a ride to Orlando Speed World on Rt. 50 in Bithlo to watch the Sunshine Nationals Drag Races. It was extremely exciting to watch these racers reach speeds well over 200 mph and cover a ¼ mile in 6.5 seconds. The engine sound is deafening, and the horsepower can be felt from a distance. What a rush if you have never seen it up close in real life. Qualifying day was open to anybody that felt the need to test their bike and skill, but the finals were dominated by the pros and it was awesome to see. The crowd in attendance loved it. Keep up with the AMRA (American Motorcycle Racing Assoc) schedule this year and consider attending next year’s event for one memorable afternoon. I’ll see ya there.

Husband to Wife: “How many people have you slept with?” Wife: “I have only ever slept with you.” Hubby: “Wow, really?” Wife: “Yeah, the rest managed to keep me awake.”
Lil’ Joey was talking with his teacher about whales. Teacher said it was ‘physically impossible for a whale to swallow a human because even though it was a very large mammal, its’ throat was very small. Lil’ Joey stated that Jonah was swallowed by a whale. Irritated, the Teacher reiterated that a whale could not swallow a human; physically impossible. Lil’ Joey said, “When I get to Heaven I will ask Jonah myself.” The Teacher quickly asked, “What if Jonah went to Hell?” Lil’ Joey replied, “Well, in that case, you ask him.”
A guy in a library asks a college aged young woman if the only open seat in the library is o.k. for him to sit in. The girl yells out very loudly, “No! I do not want to spend the night with you!!”Everyone in the library looked up, staring at the guy, then looked back down. The guy was extremely embarrassed. The guy sat down in the only empty seat and waited for a few minutes to pass. The girl very quietly whispered to the guy, “I’m learning psychology and wanting to experience first-hand the theory of cause and effect. So you were obviously very embarrassed by my outburst, am I right? The guy turned towards her and with a booming voice announced, “$200. just for an ‘afternoon delight’, forget it, that’s way too much!! Every single person, including the Librarian, looked up in total shock and just stared at the girl. The guy whispered in the girl’s ear as he rose to leave, “I’m married to the most manipulative bitch in the world, and I definitely have already learned how to make anyone feel guilty. You’re extremely mortified, am I right?
Guys at the local watering hole talking about anyone every seeing an actual U.F.O. A regular whom everyone likes and respects his opinion stopped talking while he spoke. I personally saw a flying saucer this morning. It appeared right after the flying cup that my wife threw at me during breakfast.
She wears my Harley t-shirts to bed. She wears my leather jacket when she’s cold. She even wears my boxer shorts when we cook breakfast together on Sunday mornings. But I put on her panties one time when we’d both had a tad too much to drink, and parade around the living room and suddenly, out of nowhere, I have “serious mental issues and I’ve “overstepped my boundaries”. Women! go figure.
Little Mary Margaret was not the best student in her Catholic Sunday School class, but she did have a perfect attendance record. She’d show up and sleep through the entire class. The teacher Nun thought she’d test her to see if she was just listening with her eyes closed. Teacher Nun inquired, “Tell me Mary Margaret, who created the universe?” When Mary Margaret didn’t stir, Lil’ Joey, her best buddy, took his pencil and jabbed her in her butt. “God Almighty!” Mary Margaret shouted out. Teacher Nun was very pleased. A while later Teacher Nun asks, “Mary Margaret, who is our Lord and Savior?”. Once again Lil’ Johnny came to the rescue and stuck his pencil in his friend’s butt. “Jesus Christ!!!” Mary Margaret again shouted very loudly. “Very good” was Teacher Nun’s reply. Teacher Nun in closing out class for the day and asked of Mary Margaret, “What did Eve say to Adam after she had her 23rd child?” Lil’ Johnny yet again came to the rescue. Mary Margaret jumped up and screamed out, “If you stick that damn thing in me one more time, I’ll break it in half!” Teacher Nun fainted.
I heard the government is wanting to put chips inside of people. Wow! I hope I get Doritos.
During these trying times I feel we’ve all learned a valuable lesson; Hangovers are temporary, but Drunk stories, yeah, those are Forever!
My neighbor just got arrested for growing Weed. Apparently, my property line isn’t quite where I thought it was. These diva-wanna-be chicks acting like they’re too good for McDonald’s fries be all, “I actually care what goes into my body”. Bitch please, I’ve seen all your exes, so yeah, no you do not.
Things That Make You Go Hmmmm?? Why does your OB-GYN leave the room when you get undressed, only to sit down in front of you and see all you got to see in plain view, when they return to the room?
If Jimmy cracks corn and no one cares, why is there a song about him?
Can a hearse carrying a corpse drive in the carpool lane?
A passenger in a taxi heading for Tampa Airport when he leaned over to ask the driver a question and gently tapped him on the shoulder to get his attention. The driver screamed, lost control of the cab, nearly hit a bus, drove up over the curb and stopped just inches from a large plate-glass window. For a few moments everything was silent in the cab. Then, the shaking driver said, “Are you o.k.? I’m so sorry, but you scared the living daylights out of me.”The badly shaken passenger apologized to the driver and said, “I didn’t realize that a mere tap on the shoulder would startle someone so badly.” The driver replied, “No, no, I’m the one who should apologize, it’s entirely my fault. Today is my very first day driving a cab. I’ve been driving a hearse for the past 25 years.”
GearHead returns home a day early from Sturgis as his bike broke down and he caught a lift just inside of town, and then grabbed a cab. It’s after midnight. While on his way home, he asks the cabby if he would be a witness. The man suspects his wife is having an affair, and he wants to catch her in the act.For $100 bucks, the cabby agrees. Quietly arriving home, the husband and cabby tip toe into the bedroom. GearHead switches on the lights, yanks the blanket back and there is his wife, in bed with another man, just as he suspected! GearHead puts his gun to the naked man’s head. The wife shouts, ‘Don’t do it! I lied when I told you I inherited money from my Aunt Sarah. HE paid for the Audi I gave you on our Anniversary. HE paid for our new cabin cruiser. HE paid for your season tickets. HE paid for our house at the lake. HE paid for your African tour with your biker buddies and your new ATV. HE paid for the custom rims for your Ultra-Glide. HE paid for our Family WaterWorld membershipAnd, HE even pays the monthly dues on the kid’s Private schooling. Shaking his head from side-to-side, GearHead low-ers his gun. He looks totally confused over at the cabby and says, ‘What the hell would you do? The cabby never skips a beat and replies, ‘I’d cover his ass with that blanket before he catches a damn cold.’
Mildred, the small town gossip and self-appointed monitor of church morals, was always one to stick her nose into other people’s business. Most mem-bers of the congregation did not approve of her intrusions, but she was feared due to her lethal forked tongue, so everyone maintained their si-lence. She took that fatal step too far one day, when she accused “Lightning”, a biker, and new member of the Church, of being an alcoholic after she saw his old Chevy pickup parked in front of the small town’s only bar all morning and late into the night. She emphatically told Lightning in front of the entire congregation that “Everyone seeing that pickup there would know what he was doing”. Fact was, Lightning had volunteered to help Gus, the bar owner, repair a leaky ceiling in the kitchen. But Gus was not a member of the congregation so nothing was brought to light. Lightning, a man of few words but plenty of action, stared at her for a solid minute, then just got up and left the church. He said nothing. Later that early morning; around 1:00 a.m., Light-ning parked his pickup directly in front of Mildred’s house, walked home, and left it there all night long and late into the lunch hour.
One year, I decided to buy my mother-in-law a cemetery plot as a birthday giftThe next year, I didn’t buy her a gift. When she asked me why, I replied,“Well, you still haven’t used the gift I bought you last year!”Hello! Some people are so dense.
“Putter” and all his golfing buddies are standing on the green while he’s got a very important shot to win the game that’s not over 15 feet to the hole; straight in. “Handicap” yells out, “come on, already, Putter, we all want to finish up and grab a drink”. Putter replies back, although in a hushed tone, “don’t bust my balls here huh? My wife’s upon the Club’s veranda watching us and I want to get it right”. Handicap yells back, “Nah, forget about it, that’s way too far off, you’ll never hit her from here”.
