About the Last One: Bowie swept Saturday's doubleheader over Reading, winning game one 5-1 and game two 4-1. In game one, Kyle Stowers, Johnny Rizer, and Toby Welk all homered for the Baysox, and Steven Klimek earned the win in relief. In game two, Welk recorded an RBI triple, and Patrick Dorrian later added a triple of his own. David Lebron pitched four scoreless innings out of the bullpen to earn his fifth save of the year. With a win Sunday, Bowie can win their 11th series of the year. Playoff Push: The top two teams in the Double-A Northeast League by winning percentage, regardless of division will compete in a Best-of-5 playoff series beginning the Tuesday after the regular season concludes. With 26 games remaining in the season after today, Bowie is in sole possession of the second playoff spot, with a one-game advantage over the Portland Sea Dogs. Akron holds the top spot in the league. New Week, New Faces: The Baltimore Orioles announced sweeping changes this week to their minor league system. There were 14 transactions that impaced the Bowie Baysox roster. For all of the latest transactions, see page 15. Rodriguez on the Rubber: Making his second start of the season against Reading, and his first start since being named MLB Pipeline's No. 1 pitching prospect, will be right- hander Grayson Rodriguez. In game one of the series on Tuesday, Rodriguez tossed five innings and allowed just one run on two hits, with one walk and six strikeouts. It was his third start in a row with at least six strikeouts, and in his last three starts combined he has struck out 23 batters. For more information on Rodriguez, see page two. In the Other Corner: Looking to earn a series split, Reading will send righty Tyler Phillips to the mound. He was claimed by the Philadelphia Phillies off waivers on July 24th. He has split time this year in the Rangers' system between Double-A Frisco and Triple-A Round Rock. With Frisco, he had a 1-2 record with a 4.70 ERA in six appearances, five of which were starts. He has only recorded one appearance and thrown two innings for Reading, and they were two scoreless innings in the series opener against Bowie. This Day in Baysox History: In 2019, Cedric Mullins went 1-3 with a home run and two RBI as Bowie beat Altoona 9-2 and snapped a five-game losing streak on August 22nd. 2021 BOWIE BAYSOX GAME NOTES Sunday, August 22, 2021 - 2:15 p.m. FirstEnergy Stadium - Reading, PA Bowie Baysox (56-37) @ Reading Fightin Phils (36-59) RHP Grayson Rodriguez (5-1, 2.33 ERA) vs. RHP Tyler Phillips (0-0, 0.00 ERA) Game #94 / Away Game #53 UPCOMING BAYSOX SCHEDULE AND PROBABLE PITCHING MATCH UPS Date Time Opponent Pitchers Monday, August 23 Off Tuesday, August 24 6:35 p.m. vs. Erie SeaWolves TBA vs. TBA Wednesday, August 25 6:35 p.m. vs. Erie SeaWolves TBA vs. TBA 2021 TEAM LEADERS Statistic Name Total Statistic Name Total Batting Avg.
