2021 Jesuit Celebration Auction

Canee Schmidt, Auction Chair

Since the inaugural event in 1984, Jesuit’s Celebration Auction has raised nearly $20 million for the Jesuit Dallas endowment, and provided crucial financial aid for deserving students as well as funds to support faculty development, operations,

and program enhancement. In short, many of our students and alumni would not have been able to attend Jesuit without your wonderful generosity, and the

student experience would certainly not be the same.

Jesuit Dallas thanks everyone who contributed items, services, time, and talent to the 2021 Celebration Auction. To those donors, underwriters, and volunteers

whose names were received after the program published, please accept our deepest thanks and appreciation for your support. We regret all omissions that

may have occurred due to deadlines.

CHAIR’S LETTER

What a year this has been, and what a future we anticipate!

This year has been a time of retraining and reinvention. It has been one of resilience and perseverance, loss and discovery, and strong community. The trials and triumphs of this past year have reflected life in a microcosm. Through it all, Jesuit’s singular focus on graduating Men for Others has been a steady, reliable, and proven constant. That is Jesuit’s secret sauce. That is the essence of Jesuit. That is why generation after generation of families entrust their sons to this special and formative experience.

Welcome to the “Let’s Get Groovy” ride! Buckle your platforms and heat up the fondue pot, because you are

about to take a far-out trip to the 38th annual Jesuit Celebration Auction! Feel tonight’s good vibes and cool energy as we all enjoy some “off-the-hook” entertainment and feel a sense of renewed gratitude to be part of this Jesuit family.

Did you know that Jesuit provided critical need-based financial assistance to nearly 30% of the student body this school year? All proceeds from tonight’s event benefit the Jesuit endowment, and pave the way toward providing the gift of a Jesuit education to every qualified student regardless of their ability to pay.

Thank you for your crucial financial support tonight. Let’s have fun AND do good together. “It’s all about the love.”

It has been my privilege to have served as this year’s Auction Chair. This year’s reimagined events would have been impossible without our stellar auction committee chairs, exceptional Jesuit leadership and administration, and so many generous donors of time, talent and treasure. I am deeply grateful for each of you. On behalf of our extraordinary Jesuit students, thank you.

So tune in, boogie down to some groovy tunes, and feel that 70s spirit as we support a mission that is timeless. “Catch you on the flip side,” my friends.

Peace and love,

Canee SchmidtChair, 2021 Jesuit Celebration Auction

One of the most cherished parts of the Celebration Auction each year is our paddle raise. In hosting a virtual auction, we can’t easily replicate the energy and joy created in the room through this life-changing appeal, but the need for these critical funds has never been greater. This year’s “paddle raise,” which we are titling Support our Mission, funds our most noble endeavor: ensuring that the young men who apply to Jesuit Dallas are considered solely on the merits of their academic ability and character, and that the need for financial aid has no bearing on admission. With students originating from over 100 zip codes and nearly 50 cities in the State of Texas, the makeup of our student community is unique. This is important, as a diverse population encourages dialogue, growth, and inclusivity, which are vital elements in forming young men to become true community servants as Men for Others. Thanks to our deeply devoted and generous community, Jesuit Dallas granted more than $3 million in financial assistance to 28% of the student body during the 2020-21 academic year. On the flipside, 72% of the Class of 2020 received college scholarships and awards totaling over $35 million. Please help keep the gift of a Jesuit education available for all. Register online and Support Our Mission on March 27.
