EDGE COVID-19 RESPONSE

COVID-19 RESPONSE

In these uncertain times and after the impact Covid 19 has had on our way of life and on our economy locally, we wanted to share some positive updates with you – our factory is again working at full strength and EDGE’s expansion and development plans are back on course.

As of 15th June, 90% of our factory employees returned to work. Machines are being manufactured daily and sent out to customers around the world. We have introduced measures in the factory and office to keep everyone safe, including staggered start and break times, additional PPE, one-way systems, additional hand wash and sanitising stations and as much social distancing as is possible.

We have strict policies in place for contractors/suppliers entering the site and have minimised the number of visitors allowed at any given time. Some office staff continue to work from home and are successfully communicating with customers through video and phone.

Our sales and aftersales team are continually talking to customers through Zoom and conference calls, with ongoing technical and parts support still provided.

2020 brought its fair share of challenges. Covid-19 was been the biggest challenge of all. Keeping our team and their families safe has been our number one priority. With a huge investment in new protective equipment and processes, EDGE has thus far been successful in minimising the spread of the virus within our workplace.

As a team we have really pulled together and worked hard to alleviate the impact of the virus on our customers and suppliers. With a forced shutdown in the spring we were able to return to work with a renewed vigour and determination to pull back on our stretched delivery dates. With much of the world in the same situation, our team worked closely with our distributors to deliver our products to end customers in record times.

The threat of Covid has not disappeared and although there is light at the end of the tunnel in terms of a vaccine, as a company we remain vigilant and ultra-careful throughout our operations to ensure we help curtail the spread of the virus.

2020 has seen the completion of our new paint shop and the launch of several new products. Our team has grown too and our revenue has also increased. In the face of the global pandemic this growth is testament to the work ethic and commitment of our team. It is also a demonstration of the strong relationships we have with our distributors and customers.

2021 EXPANSION PLANS

2021 will also see an expansion of our product offering. An investment in our fabrication facilities as well as a new equipment demonstration area and ‘Customer Training and Welcome Centre’ will further help us improve our levels of service.

As a team we look forward to 2021 and the challenges it will bring with confidence, in the meantime take a look back at 2020 with us in our review video – https://youtu.be/DyvEZ0faYFU

EDGE INNOVATE BOOST PRODUCTION CAPACITY WITH ONSITE INVESTMENT

At the beginning of 2021 EDGE Innovate saw the completion of one of the programmes main goals, with the opening of a new 37,500 ft² factory at their Dungannon facility. The new facility will see production capacity increase by up to 30%.

The facility will house a new stores area, a state-of-the-art paint shop and blasting facility complete with an automated blasting line. Through a close working relationship with their current paint supplier, the new paint shop facility will enable EDGE to achieve a much superior paint finish, leading to a more durable product for their customers. Additional training coincided with a strengthened internal Quality Control system will guarantee an already high standard paint finish, first time, every time. The new paint facility is controlled via an advanced PLC control system that will capture live data on production cycles. This process enables painters and fitters to get the correct colours and parts in place allowing for builds

to move through the factory much more efficiently and increases productivity.

EDGE state that “every aspect of the coating process is regularly audited by our internal team and paint supplier to ensure compliance to our now increased internal & customer requirements. With the imminent transfer to our state-of-the-art painting facility we are confident that our investment will ensure EDGE remain market leaders and innovators”.

ENVIRONMENTAL BENEFITS

The new paint facility will see several environmental benefits. With shorter drying cycles & superior heat retention properties of the new paint booths installed; EDGE Innovate’s onsite energy consumption will be improved. Wastage generated via the painting process will also be greatly reduced, as too will the level of organic substance emissions.

Darragh Cullen, EDGE Innovate Managing Director commenting at the completion of the new factory, “With an ever-increasing customer demand for our products, it became abundantly clear that we needed to expand our manufacturing capacity. Having the ability to satisfy that demand was important, but so to, was the process of improving the quality of our products. This investment will allow EDGE to create a best in industry paint finish, allowing our customers to enjoy a much more durable product in the field”.

EDGE Innovate will now turn its attention to the expansion of their final assembly production facilities along with a new Customer Welcome Centre to house their ever-expanding sales, marketing, and aftersales departments.

EDGE COLORPRO Dye Trommel doubles production for recycling company! You might be surprised to know a 25-acre recycling yard in an industrial area of Wilmington, N.C., filled with big equipment processing giant piles of old trees and vegetation, also is a model of neatness and efficiency.

In the case of Wilmington’s American Property Experts (APE), all the equipment not in use at the recycling business is clean and lined up perfectly. Even the huge piles of unprocessed plant waste are smartly arranged.

That’s due to APE being owned by Jason Thompson, a former Marine given to crisp efficiency and orderliness that he believes is one factor in the success of his dynamic company. His agile business sense has fashioned APE into one of North Carolina’s largest wood debris recycling companies.

“Then, I bought the most impressive mulch coloring machine I have ever seen in my life, the EDGE ColorPro”

THE PROJECT

American Property Experts is a 25 acre recycling yard based in North Carolina. The business employs 22 people across two locations in the coastal city, from which it provides a variety of services, including processing vegetative debris for fuel, creating bulk mulches and soils and recycling old concrete into stone and gravel.

Boiler fuel had been their main business for 20 years with colored mulches becoming a secondary product for the last several years. After conversations with his boiler fuel customers and their intention to phase out this type of fuel, APE quickly realised their need to grow the colored mulch section of the business.

To process the tremendous amount of raw vegetative material APE takes in to make mulch, the owner Jason Thompson carefully selected equipment he believed would create products that meet his specifications.

THE SOLUTION

To process the tremendous amount of raw vegetative material APE takes in to make mulch, the owner Jason Thompson carefully selected equipment he believed would create products that meet his specifications.

APE operate grinders and trommels associated with mulch production but for the coloring of the mulch he turned to the EDGE Colorpro.

Then, I bought the most impressive mulch coloring machine I have ever seen in my life, the EDGE ColorPro,” he said. “We bought it a few months ago and went from producing 250 to 300 yards of colored mulch an hour to now being able to make 750 yards with that machine.”

THE PROCESS

After the grinding process is complete, APE trucks move the material to a processing area where it moves through the EDGE dye trommel and comes out as either black, chocolate, or red mulch.

The ColorPro is a highly efficient mulch dyingtrommel that produces a high-quality end product at the lowest cost per yard!

THE EDGE COLOR PRO With unmatched production rates of 500 yards³/hr and high efficiency; the EDGE ColorPRO offers operators the highest return of any coloring system available on the market. A self-contained portable coloring system, the EDGE ColorPRO is ideal for those operators seeking a large capacity, coloring solution.

Designed completely for the coloring of material, the ColorPRO dye trommel from EDGE Innovate incorporates impressive design features such as a 2m X 6.9m (6’ X 22’)

long spiral drum with built in material detection system to ensure against color wastage. A large hopper capacity of 12.6m³ (16.5 yards³) complete with forward / reverse feed conveyor, variable speed feeder and drum rotation allows for differing workloads.

Combining the aggressive force of both the turn shaft auger system and drum barrel, ensures for an efficient delivery of colorants to the feed material.

• Engine Options: Tier 3 / Tier 3A / Tier 4 Final

• Power-source: Diesel/ Hydraulic, Electric / Hydraulic

• Reversible fan – Engine

• Reversible Fan – Cooler

• Various water and dye pumps

• Various spray nozzle attachments

COLOR PRO OPTIONS:

After the grinding process is complete, APE trucks move the material to a processing area where it moves through the EDGE dye trommel and comes out as either black, chocolate, or red mulch.

The quickness and efficiency of the ColorPro is boosted through a 5,000-gal. water tank, buried in the ground next to the color trommel so it can operate with an unlimited water supply.

Fitted with a unique material detection system to prevent colour wastage, the ColorPro is a highly efficient mulch dying trommel that produces a high-quality end product at the lowest cost per yard!

“I looked at a lot of different machines in five years and I am a big believer that the best technology and the best efficiency gives you the best results,” Thompson continued.

In APE’s first year they produced between 25,000 to 30,000 yards of colored mulch. In 2020 that figure will have increased to 150,000 yards. All made possible by higher market demands and increase production capacity thanks to their EDGE ColorPro Dye Trommel.

Colored mulches now account for roughly the same revenue as boiler fuel and APE have a high market share of the wholesale mulch business within 175 miles of their base.
