This one-day conference will examine the impact of the Irish Volunteer movementin Ulster in the revolutionary decade, 1913-23. It will consider the role of politics,principles, partition, personalities anddivisions in the radicalisation of opinion and militarisation of the northern province.The personal accounts of first-handwitnesses at local level will be exploredin detail, paying particular attention to theFr Louis O Kane collection of interviews,in weighing up the historical legacy of this defining era after a century.
