However, Agassi Prepleadership has not submitted a distance education application to the State andtherefore does not have approval to provide a distance education program.

Agassi Prep uses Planned Parenthood to provide sex education instruction. AsPlanned Parenthood is not approved by the Sex Ed Advisory Committee to providethis service and personnel from Planned Parenthood are not licensed teachers orschool nurses approved to provide instruction in sex education, Agassi Prep is inviolation of State law. Information was provided regarding state law regarding sexeducation instruction and contact information for CCSD personnel who are more thanwilling to assist with reaching compliance on this issue.

To ensure K-5 students are receiving adequate instructional time in all content areas,it is recommended that Agassi Prep leadership provide teachers with a"recommended" or "required" daily or weekly allocation of minutes for each contentarea or subject area. The CCSD allocation of Academic Time document was sharedas an example of what might be provided.

13. A determination whether the charter school provides instruction in the prescribed courses of study for graduation from a public high school, set forth in NAC 389.450, as applicable for the grade level of pupils who are enrolled in the charter school.

Inconsistencies exist within the school's course of study document. For example,while health is listed in a paragraph as being a required course, it is not listed in theaccompanying chart. These inconsistencies could cause confusion about courserequirements. Also, the school's course of study document did not include a secondyear of Physical Education, a requirement for graduation.

Agassi Prep teachers have not followed the Nevada State implementation plan for theCommon Core State Standards in Mathematics and English Language Arts; they arescheduled to begin the rollout in the 2012-13 school year.

The Human Resources Division reviewed the files of ninety-six employees. All core-subject teacherswere appropriately licensed for their assignments. There was evidence that school administrationdocumented each teacher’s “highly qualified” status however many teachers were not "highly qualified"and did not have an established plan to become "highly qualified."

Evidence was found that indicated employees of Agassi College Preparatory Academy were enrolled inthe Public Employees Retirement System (PERS).

Employee files contained contracts, evaluations, transcripts, and copies of licenses, if applicable. I-9forms were made available for review. These forms were up-to-date and completed correctly.
