Identification Statement of the Wyoming CRC We are the Wyoming Christian Reformed Church. Standing on the infallible Word of God, in the tradition of the Reformed faith as it’s expressed in the Heidelberg Catechism, Belgic Confession and Canons of Dort, we boldly proclaim and celebrate the coming of God’s kingdom in Jesus Christ. By the strength of His Spirit we gather and enfold newcomers into His covenant of grace. We teach and equip believers and their baptized children for obedient, loving service in all areas of life to the praise of our heavenly Father. Regarding Worship: Amidst the wide range of worship practices in our culture today, we maintain that worship is a meeting between God and His people in which God is praised and His people are blessed. Worship must center around the preaching of the word – the primary means of grace. We deem it a blessing to assemble twice on the Lord’s Day to praise His name. Worship is our highest calling and joy. Regarding Moral and Ethical Living: the Bible is our guide for life. It addresses the sanctity of life (Ex 20:13), the roles of men and women in the church and home (1 Tim 2:11-15; Eph 5:22-23), the proper attitude toward material possessions (1 Tim 6:3-10). In short, the Bible addresses every aspect of our lives. In our world ravaged by moral relativism, we affirm that all the principles for Christian living revealed in the Bible and summarized in the Ten Commandments, remain normative for our lives today. The church’s task is to proclaim these principles and to call sinners to repentance and faith in Jesus Christ. With love and compassion we practice church discipline and encourage penitent believers in their continual battle against the kingdom of darkness. To strengthen our identity in Christ, we seek contact and fellowship with churches of like mind. Welcome to the Wyoming Christian Reformed Church on this Sunday, May 20th , 2012! A special welcome to all our visitors! We hope you will feel at home among us and receive a blessing from the Lord. As we come to bring the gift of our worship, we place ourselves before our Maker who formed our heart. He is the One who knows our name, our every thought, who sees each tear that falls, and answers us when we call. Everyone is warmly invited and encouraged to go downstairs after the morning service for coffee or juice and a time of Christian fellowship.

Children aged 3-8 are invited to

go downstairs for Sunday School after the children’s song and a short prayer of blessing. There is also a class for those with special needs. Parents, please feel free to follow the teachers out and ask them any questions you may have. As we obediently “train children in the way they should go,” may it be our prayer that “they will not turn from it when they are older” (Proverbs 22:6).

If there is any way we can be of service to you (if you have a prayer request or would like more information about our church and the programs we offer), please do not hesitate to get in touch with an elder or a deacon.

Today’s Worship : We join the global church in bringing Almighty God our praise on this day of rest and gladness! Today we welcome Rev. Norman Jones from Aylmer to our pulpit for the morning service and Exhorter Mr. Martin Bosveld for the evening service. May our prayers and worship be an acceptable sacrifice of praise to our great God and Heavenly Father! The Almighty One meets and greets us here and anoints us to be his prophets, priests and kings in our daily lives and activities.

Pre-service Hymn Sing: Next week Sunday, May 27th, please plan to come early to church and join in singing God’s praises before the service. With the scheduled Profession of Faith of seven individuals from our church, we have much to celebrate!

Next Week: Next Sunday, May 27th, our morning service will be led by Rev. John Hellinga. Our evening service will be led by Rev. Jack Westerhof.

Our Church Family:Our prayers are heard, not because we are in earnest, not because we suffer, but because Jesus suffered. ~ Oswald Chambers

We continually “keep on praying for all the saints” (Ephesians 6:18) here at the Wyoming CRC, trusting that we are loved of God, elect in Christ, empowered by the Spirit.

Having celebrated Ascension Day, reassured of the triumph and victory of our Lord Jesus Christ, may we continue diligently in our prayers and service to our

King. R.C. Sproul explains, “In the Old Testament the idea of ascending was linked to two activities. First, it described drawing near to the presence of God. The Tabernacle was set on a hill and people went up to it. Later, the Temple was built on a mountain in Jerusalem and there is a section in the Book of Psalms, called the Psalms of Ascent (120-134), which describe the worshippers’ approach to the Temple at the festival periods of Israel. So Jesus, when He ascended, entered God’s presence.” Now that Jesus is seated at the right hand of God, we too, have unlimited access, through Jesus our Head, to the almighty power and majesty of the Father. Our prayers will be heard and will be effective.

So pray about anything on your mind personally. Then pray for our church. Pray for those who are planning to make profession of faith: Jared Bos, Katie Dekker, Kim Kaldeway, Jen Philips, Jess Soepboer, Mike Schenk and Christine Deboer. Pray for our VBS Co-ordinators, Brenda Beintema and Michelle Greydanus. Pray for the HANDS team. Pray for the young people and leaders of our SERVE group and their summer plans to go to Washington. Pray for Rev. Bill and Grace Hoogland as they ponder the possibility of a call to our church. Pray for those who experience health issues and struggles from day to day. Pray for our shut-ins. This weekend is the All Ontario Youth Convention. Much work and preparation goes into this wonderful, often life-changing event, for teens and young adults. Pray that it might be a time of vibrant worship and fellowship for the many attendees. Pray that the gospel might be proclaimed far and wide today and that many might claim our ascended Saviour as theirs, too!

Christian Reformed World Missions asks us to pray for Ukraine and our CRWM missionaries there. Sisters Lyuda and Valya grew up keeping certain religious traditions and going to church on Easter. But they did not know much about God or what it meant to follow him. It wasn’t until they started visiting Mukachevo Christian Reformed Church that they came to know Jesus. Praise God that these sisters are now

using their gifts to serve God and His church. Pray that they may continue growing in him.
