InstructionsThis program is your primary source of information for the conference. If you lose it, there is a $1 fee to replace it. You will need this program and the Number Symbol on the upper right hand corner of your name badge to find your group assignments and workshop sessions.

For the Friday and Saturday Rotations, find your Number on Page 6, and then check under the various times. Find the location and session you should be in at that time.

You must wear your name badge at all times for admission to all workshops, shows, parties, food events and the awards ceremony. If you lose your name badge, you must get a replacement badge for $1 at the registration desk at Jerry Fay Wilhelm PAC. Workshops will be held at Bastrop High School and the PAC as designated on the Workshop Schedules (page 6) and shown on the map on page 7. The Awards Ceremony will be held at the Bastrop Convention and Exhibition Center on Sunday morning.

For non-conferees who wish to attend the shows, tickets for the show blocks are $15 and $5 for children age five (5) and under (must be accompanied by an adult), and may be purchased at the PAC box office 30 minutes before the show begins. For non-conferees who wish to attend the Sunday Awards Ceremony, the cost is $10.

Gregory Magyar (Commentator) - Though a Houston area high school graduate, Gregory has since spent most of his theatrical career in Santa Fe and Seattle working with a variety of theatre organizations as a director, actor, designer, educator and administrator. after receiving his BFa in acting at the College of Santa Fe’s Greer Garson Theatre Center, Gregory developed an acting resume with credits from Shakespeare to Pinter and musicals to film and radio drama.

as a director in the Seattle area, his credits include Gigi,TheGlassMenagerie,JaneEyre,TheLegendofSleepyHollow,Proof,DrivingMissDaisy, and PrivateLives to name but a few. Since returning to Texas in 2010, Gregory became the Executive Artistic Director of Katy Visual & Performing Arts Center (KVPAC), where he and his team produce almost 40 shows a year with their programming for children and adults. At KVPAC, Gregory has directed and performed in numerous productions, including his recent appearance as Henry in this year’s award-winning AACFest entry, On the Road With Hank the Horse.

Larry Adams (Improv-A-Thon) is currently serving as vice president of the board of directors of Brazos Valley TROUPE and is a volunteer staff member of BVT, coaching our resident improv team, the Oxymorons. In “the real world” Larry works at the TEEX Emergency Operations Training Center in College Station, and part-time for the Texas A&M athletic department.

Joyce Spivey Aldridge is a self-acknowledged third generation teacher whose heart lies in educating others through the transformative power of theatre. Through twenty-three years as an undergraduate theatre professor, Joyce gained a specific expertise in creating theatre from a combined emphasis on theory, history, and practice. Her pedagogical philosophy was developed in classrooms, rehearsal studios, and theater spaces across the nation where

she earned multiple teaching awards and citations for excellence in directing and acting. Joyce earned a Ph.D. from the University of Colorado/Boulder where her dissertation emphasis was on identifying national trends in the undergraduate actor’s training. As a result of her extensive studies and professional experiences, Joyce is able to provide comprehensive insights into the myriad of contemporary acting techniques. Getting to the Truth: Actions and Objectives This workshop focuses on the most complex and often misunderstood of the acting fundamentals--actions and objectives. Using exercises, improvisation, and written text, participants will learn specific techniques to use when developing active audition monologues and dynamic scene-work. Discover what it means to act with a truth that is grounded in the heartbeat of theatre.

David Allen III is a singer/actor/writer/director born and raised in Houston, TX. He was bitten by the acting bug in 1999 at 14 when a friend dragged him to

Youth Conference Bios & Session Information - continuedan audition. He realized he loved it and, since then, has taken every opportunity to hone his craft. He has acted on stages all over Houston and has a strong passion for teaching. He has taught at several theatres in the Greater Houston area and currently delights in the awesome privilege of being one of the founders of Iconotheatrix (ITX) Youth Theatre in Houston, TX. He strives to provide an exciting and interactive environment for children of all ages to learn and grow in their

love for theatre. Master Your Monologue!! - Monologues can be a challenge to tackle for actors of any skill level. This class will explore the tools needed to take on that challenge! Students will learn to ask the right questions when preparing a monologue for an audition or a production and to breathe new life into even the most challenging of pieces.

Guillermo De Leon received his Bachelors from Texas A&M University and his Masters from Texas A&M University-Commerce. An international playwright, Guillermo has written and produced over 30 plays in the US and Mexico. as a member of the nationally known, award-winning latino Comedy Project in conjunction with MTV3, Guillermo was nominated for a Daytime Emmy in 2009. He has served as a Guest Artist (Playwright in Residence) for Texas A&M and Missouri Southern State University. Currently, Guillermo serves as the Manager/Technical Advisor at the Jerry Fay Wilhelm Center for the Performing Arts and as one of the Theatre Directors at Bastrop High School. Quirky People to Quirky Plays - In this workshop, we’ll work from character to script! Come create quirky characters, establish relationships, improvise some dialogue, and then put it on paper! a fun way to create new scripts for the stage. Be prepared to write, act, and imagine!

Jeanie De Leon received her degree in theatre from Texas A&M University-Commerce, and has been heavily involved in educational theatre for the past 20 years. She has taught and directed secondary theatre arts in Houston and austin, as well as playwriting and improvisation workshops to elementary, secondary, and college undergraduates. She has served on the Texas State Thespian Board and has adjudicated performers at the state and international level. Professionally she has worked

with the Austin-based Latino Comedy Project, The Paramount and State Theatres, and Stone Mountain Productions, among others. Jeanie believes that raising the next generation in creativity and artistic expression is a vital and worthy cause. If You Can See It, They Can See It - Come explore the magic and freedom of a performance space without props! Establish fundamentals of character, mood, and plot without that pesky script--bring a meaningful piece of music, and be prepared to move!

Youth Conference Bios & Session Information - continuedRoberta Elliott has her degrees in Theatre and

Comparative Religions. She began volunteering at Circle Arts Theatre at age 14 and upon graduation from Trinity University became the artistic Technical Director. Thirty years later she is now the Executive Director. Roberta has written numerous plays: children’s, high school, melodramas, and adult. Her experience ranges from choreography to acting to anything technical. Vocal Gymnastics: There’s a lot of emphasis on

how an actor’s body moves on stage. Did you know your voice can be as active as your body? Have fun finding out all the ways your voice can paint the picture of your character and add dimension to your play.

Lauren Fickey works for Nikki Pederson Talent and has been a member and staff assistant of Brazos Valley TROUPE for seven years. She graduated from the University of Sam Houston in 2013 with a BA in Mass Communications. This will be Lauren’s third time teaching and fifth time attending the TNT Youth Conference. Scene Study - a cold reading technique class for auditioning.

Jennifer Godfrey has been in the theatre business for thirty years. She started her theatre career at Samuel Clemens High School as a theatre student and is now a theatre teacher at Robert E Lee High School in San Antonio. Jennifer is a graduate of Texas State University as a theatre education major specializing in Technical Theatre and Directing. as well as teaching theatre in the public school system, Jennifer also teaches in the community theatre in

New Braunfels at Circle Arts Theatre. When not teaching, she is on stage as an actor and director as well. Some of Jennifer’s favorite roles are; Stepmother from Into the Woods, Beline from Imaginary Invalid, and Vera Sanders from Smoke On The Mountain. Favorite shows directed; Crossroads,AChristmasCarol, and GreaterTuna. It’s all about the Ensemble - How many times have you been cast as an ensemble member and had no idea what you were really cast as, or what part or parts you are going to play. let us dive into how to invent those memorable characters without upstaging your cast members!

Jade Greenough was born and raised in Austin, Texas. She began dancing at the age of 4 at Shirley McPhail School of Dance and continued her education at D’Ette & Co Dancers. She studied in ballet, tap, jazz, musical theater, contemporary and hip hop. Jade began teaching for D’Ette & Co Dancers in 1998. In 1999 Jade was accepted as a member of TaTD (Texas Association Teachers of Dancing), with an exam in Jazz. In 2008 she successfully passed her Examiners Exam in Tap and currently serves as the 2nd Vice President of TATD. Jade is the artistic director of Rhythm Force, the performing troupe of D’Ette & Co. Dancers. Jade also teaches master

Youth Conference Bios & Session Information - continuedclasses and choreography to high schools and middle schools in the austin and Bastrop areas. She has served on faculty of Tap It Up and TATD. Each day Jade is thankful for what dance has brought into her life. Hip Hop - High energy Hip Hop dance class for all ages. Hip-Hop is a broad collection of urban street dance styles including Breaking, Popping, Locking, and more. Hip-Hop dancing evolved from Hip-Hop culture and includes elements from Jazz, Rock, Tap, american and latino dance cultures.

Dan Grimm has been improvising for 20 years. Starting in college at Texas A&M with Freudian Slip and then training in Chicago with iO and The Second City. He has also taught at comedy festivals around the nation and continues to perform with Never Pickles, most recently at the Houston Improv Festival.In addition to improvising, Dan has also worked in live entertainment, touring and managing technical aspects of shows including stage managing The Second City Tourco.

Dan has a BA in Theatre Arts from Texas A&M University, and currently works full time as Production Manager at the Jerry Fey Wilhelm Performing Arts Center in Bastrop Texas. Scenic Improvisation for Actors - Using human observation and simple technique we will explore improvised scenes and help create our own working style to help enable scripted material as well as creating longform improv for performance.

Todd Hart is the former Executive Producer for Theatre Arlington and former Associate Producer for Casa Manana. He now lives in las Vegas and runs his own production company producing and directing corporate events, production shows and theme parks. Some of his former students include Brian Gonzales (Babkak - Aladdin, the Musical), Jay Armstrong Johnson (Chip - On The Town), Miguel Cervantes (If/Then, American Idiot), Jennifer Stone (Harper - The Witches ofWaverlyPlace) and Mitch Grassi, Scott Hoying and Kirstie Maldonado of the Grammy Award-winning vocal group, Pentatonix. He is overjoyed at being at this conference! Why Act a Song - Ever hear a director or teacher say, “Stop singing!” when performing a musical number? Ever wonder why? Learn how to break down a song so you can communicate it effectively for an audition or a role in a show. learn how to analyze a piece and make it your own.

Emily McNabb earned her BFa in dance performance from the University of North Texas, where she graduated Magna Cum Laude, ambassador of the College of Arts and Sciences, and vice president of the dance honor society Chi Tau Epsilon. After graduating, Emily moved to New York City where she furthered her studies in dance and received her RYT certification in vinyasa yoga. Emily has had the privilege of studying under Dallas Black Dance Theater,

acting technique teacher Nicholle Walton-Durban, and teachers for the Central Pennsylvania Youth Ballet. In addition to her performance background on the stage, Emily has also appeared in film and commercial work in Austin and New York City. As a company member of Verge Dance Company in Austin, Emily performs with artist director, Hannah Brightwell, and is also active board member for Dance International, travels with Hall of Fame Dance Challenge as a regional and national judge, and teaches masterclasses and sets choreography on competitive dance companies in many cities. Musical Theatre Dance - Upbeat Musical Theater Dance Workshop to enhance your technique, improve your performing skills and broaden your horizons to the world of Broadway.

Becky McCants has a B.a. degree in Theatre from Henderson State University. Since graduating in 1987, she has performed in numerous productions. Some favorite roles have been Chava in Fiddler on the Roof, Shelby in Steel Magnolias, Ado Annie Carnes in Oklahoma, and Minnie Fay in HelloDolly. Becky was a co-founder, and the artistic director for Word of Mouth Productions, directing and producing such shows as School House Rock, Treasure

Island,SleepyHollow and many more, and teaching theatre classes and summer camps. Currently a freelancer for various theatre groups she has directed 1776, To Kill a Mockingbird, Narnia, and CaptainLouie,Jr.as well as continuing to teach acting and theatre classes. Also working on a career in film and television, Becky has appeared in Walker,TexasRanger and Wishbone, and is currently in Final Voice and UnconditionalLove, two series to be released in 2015. Acting Tools of Trade (Voice, body and mind) - What tools are in the actor’s tool belt? How do we identify them and use them to create characters and communicate with the audience?

Jason Moats is a program director for the Texas A&M Engineering Extension Service by day. But on nights and weekends, he can be found working as the set designer and sometimes technical director for Brazos Valley TROUPE. Occasionally, he even ends up in a production or two. For the last 4 years, he has been responsible for creating commercials for many of BVTs productions. He is an experienced sound engineer who has worked with groups like Aerosmith, The Preservation Hall Jazz Band, Three Dog Night, Garth Brooks, and REO Speedwagon to name a few.

Using Video to Tell Your Theater Story - This workshop is a crash course on designing and creating video to tell a story to promote and publicize your group. During this workshop a video will be written and recorded by the participants for possible playback at the end of the conference.

Ocala Civic Theatre in Florida and The Slightly Off Center Players in Deer Park, TX. Her husband Jeff Sensat and she founded SOCP, a nationally-acclaimed, internationally-traveled theatre. She has danced with the Southwest Jazz Ballet Company for ten years and has worked with Chris Wilson’s, APM Studios, Clear Creek Country Theatre, Pasadena Little Theatre, Theatre San Jacinto, Art Park Players, Center Stage, SOCP and OCT. She has choreographed, directed and/or acted in over 100 productions. Mandy has been awarded All Star Cast and choreographic recognition in All in the Timing during AACTFest ’05 Quad, State and Region fests. Mandy is the founder/artistic director for Puppet Playground. She has also served as Texas Nonprofit Theatres’ Quad IV Co-Chairman. This marks her eighth directorial appearance at TNT Youth Festival. The Circle of Life - Join us as we travel to the african safari and the world of TheLionKingJr. Learn choreography and stylized movement of the wildabeast in “The Stampede” and the Lionesses of “Shadowland”. Be inspired by the African and modern movement of one of Broadway’s most beloved musicals.

Reb Sibley has been teaching middle school Theatre Arts for 6 years, after receiving her Bachelor of Fine Arts in Theatre Education from Texas State University in San Marcos in 2008. She returned to the stage last spring in Boerne Community Theatre’s production of Nunsense as Sister Mary amnesia. She hopes to continue to build her community theatre resume this summer! Classic Mime Techniques - In this workshop, you will learn four classic mime techniques that make your audience amazed! We will talk about what it takes to be a mime, the history of the makeup, and the difference of mime and pantomime, but mostly we will be on our feet working on mini scenes together!! Come ready to move and create!

Robin Williams, a graduate of the University of Texas with a BFa in Theatre Studies, is no stranger to the TNT Youth Conference. She performed with Inner Circle of Circle Arts Theatre in the very first year that the conference started, and returned for many years afterward, eventually moving up to a leadership position with the group. She has taught in Central Texas for the past 20 years and is currently a stage director, music director and choreographer for Circle Arts.

As the Artistic/Technical Director of Circle Arts, she teaches adults as well as kids. Improv Characterization - Create big, memorable characters in a moment’s notice with just a few helpful tools. We’ll work on how to create and how to make big choices that will allow you to be a different character every time you’re on stage.

The Baron’s Brigade is a new youth company for the Bastrop Opera House being inaugurated with this TNT anniversary event and anticipating two shows to follow Rock Bottom with new actors for Twelve Dancing Princesses in July and Butterfly in August. Cast members are home, private and public school youngsters of Bastrop County with the

vision of an Academy for the Theatre Arts beginning fall 2015. The Baron in the company name refers to the Baron de Bastrop whose ability to create a character that he was not, but one who so impressed the Mexicans and Texians of the 1800’s, that he is revered today. after all, life is a Masquerade regardless of your age. The BCT Teen Troupe came under the direction of Patricia Hausman in august 2007. What started with three teens interested in doing theatre has turned into a full program with over 75 kids on the roster. BCT Teen

Troupe is for individuals 13-19 years of age in the Boerne/San Antonio area. We have monthly meetings, workshops, and perform at special events as well as doing two main stage productions and a travelling show every year. Teen Troupe began attending the TNT Youth Conference in 2009 and was the host of last year’s conference. We are excited to be in Bastrop to celebrate the 20th anniversary of this great conference.
